Strolling in Bad Ischl - Encountering the Romance of Austria

Bad Ischl, this Austrian spa town, is like a lost pearl, exuding unique charm. Here you can find tranquil natural scenery, profound historical heritage, and mouth-watering food, waiting for travelers to explore. Caesar Villa: Witness to Royal Romance As the summer palace of Emperor Franz Joseph and Princess Sissi, the Caesar Villa carries the romance and luxury of the royal family. The villa was designed by the emperor himself and its interior is beautifully decorated, from gorgeous crystal chandeliers to exquisite murals, all of which reflect the glory of the past. Walking in the garden, you can seem to see the emperor and princess walking there, and feel that romantic royal time. Katrin Cable Car: A panoramic view of the Alps Take the Katrin Cable Car and slowly ascend, and the magnificent scenery of the Alps will slowly unfold before your eyes. At your feet are rolling mountains and verdant forests, and the lakes in the distance are like mirrors, shining with charming light. Once you reach the top of the mountain, you can explore the nature reserve on foot, breathe in the fresh air, and immerse yourself in the embrace of nature. Relaxing time on the banks of the Traun River Take a stroll along the banks of the Traun River in the city center and feel the leisure and tranquility of the town. There are cafes and restaurants scattered along the riverside. Find a seat at one of them, order a cup of fragrant coffee or an authentic Austrian dessert, look at the gurgling river, listen to the sounds of nature, and time seems to slow down. Bad Ischl Thermal Baths: Enjoy the healing warmth Bad Ischl is famous for its hot springs, and soaking in the thermal baths is an experience not to be missed when visiting here. The warm spring water wraps around the body, washes away the fatigue of the journey, and makes people relax completely. The hot spring water here is of excellent quality and is said to have unique therapeutic effects. Municipal Museum: Touching the vein of history The Municipal Museum is located in the former Austrian Hotel, which witnessed the engagement ceremony of the Emperor and Princess Sissi. The museum houses a rich collection of historical relics, from old photographs to traditional handicrafts, which vividly showcase the town’s development history and cultural heritage. Bad Ischl on the tip of your tongue If you want to taste authentic Austrian desserts, you must go to Konditorei Zauner, which has a history of nearly 200 years. This was once the royal cake shop and was also Princess Sissi's favorite. The signature dessert, Zaunerstollen, has a rich chocolate outer layer wrapped with sweet sugar, hazelnuts and nougat. It has a rich taste and is full of happiness in one bite. If you want to enjoy a full meal, Restaurant Weinhaus Attwenger is worth a visit. The restaurant is located in an old house by the river with a small garden and a traditional European country style interior. The menu has a rich selection of dishes, including Viennese schnitzel, Mediterranean fish fillet and other specialties, paired with Austria's representative white wine Grüner Veltliner, which is unforgettable.

#tripaway If you are visiting the Salzkammergut you will likely pass through the spa town of Bad Ischl on the way to the lakes. Emperor Franz Joseph l spent his summers here and it's where he met Sissi, so it must be lovely! It's certainly worth the stopover. Which isn't complete until you indulge at Cafe Zauner (of which there are two - but the riverside is more romantic).didn't have the chance to visit the Kaiservilla this time, so it's an excuse to go back, as well as pick up another Zaunerstollen! #tripaway
