Khor Virap Monastery - A UNESCO World Heritage Site in Armenia.

[Khor Virap Monastery] In 287 AD, St. Gregory, who led the Armenians to convert to Christianity, was imprisoned by the Armenian king in a dungeon for 13 years. After 13 years, the king saw that St. Gregory, who came out of the dungeon, was still the same, so he believed in the power of God, and since then Armenia has become the earliest Christian country in the world. Today, visitors can still enter the underground prison through a very narrow passage to see the miracle. The underground prison has no windows, and it feels stuffy after staying for a while. The towering snow mountain behind the monastery is Mount Ararat in the hearts of the Armenians. It is the place where Noah's Ark is recorded in the Bible. Currently, Mount Ararat belongs to Turkey and is only a few kilometers away from the Armenian border. The unearthed fragments of Noah's Ark are now in the Etchmiadzin Cathedral in Armenia. Khor Virap Monastery was listed as a World Heritage Site in 2000.
