Egypt | Abu Simbel Temple

🌅Due to changes in the itinerary, we had to depart in the early morning and unexpectedly witnessed the sunrise, which was still very satisfying. The dim morning light shone on the towering statue, adding a touch of mystery. 🏯The Abu Simbel Temple is said to be named after the guide who first took Westerners to the site. It consists of a gate built into the cliff, a giant statue of Ramses II, rock carvings, front and rear halls, and a shrine. 🗿The Abu Simbel Temple was built in the 13th century BC by Ramses II, the 19th dynasty of the New Kingdom of ancient Egypt, and has a history of 3300 years. The temple consists of two giant temples carved from rock, dedicated to the gods Ptah, Amun-Ra, Harahty, and the deified Ramses II, and the nearby small temple dedicated to the goddess Hathor and Ramses II's favorite wife, Queen Nefertari.
