Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Inca citadel located in the Eastern Cordillera of southern Peru on a 2,430-meter (7,970 ft) mountain ridge. Often referred to as the "Lost City of the Incas", it is the most familiar icon of the Inca Empire. We took the earliest bus at 5.30am up to Machu Picchu entrance from the gateway town of Aquas Calientes to see the gorgeous sun rose above the mountains before the beautiful clouds disappeared revealing the breathtaking Incan ruins of Machu Picchu. We spent a good 3 hours walking around and taking amazing photos. There’s no toilet once you’ve passed the entrance so make sure you use the toilet at the entrance before hiking up. Also once you’ve started one of the hiking routes, you cannot turn back but must keep moving forward till the end of the route which takes you back to the entrance where drinks, food and toilets are available so pack a bottle of water or snacks if you need them along the way. There are many ways to reach Machu Pichu from Cusco which can cost from 20$ to 400$. You can take direct bus from Cusco main square which starts from early morning, You can take Direct Train from Cusco, or you can take half route with bus and half by train. Bus starts just a walk away from Plaza De Armas and around 3-4 am. Bus journey takes around 2-3 hours and drop you at Railway station. From there you will be boarded on a Train which again takes another 2-3 hours. Snacks are provided at Bus station and in train. Train will drop you at Machu Pichu station from there you can hike or take bus. It was comfortable and scenic ride. #hikingtrails

Travel To Machu Picchu One of the most visited sites in the world today by travelers is Machu Picchu. It is located in Cuzco, Peru in the high Andes Mountains. It is approximately 724 miles away from Lima, the Peruvian capital. A typical trip by land on a bus takes about 20 hours. One could also take a flight and arrive there in a heartbeat of one hour. The starting point usually begins in Lima. The ruins sit surrounded by the Andes Mountains at about 11,024 feet above sea level. The name Machu Picchu literally means “old peak”, translated from the Quechua language. It was discovered by Hiram Bingham on July 24, 1911 while he was in charge of a Yale University expedition. It was in this landscape that the Incas built Machu Picchu at the end of the fourteenth century. The climate is mild, warm and damp. It has a year round average temperature of 55F during the day. There are typically two seasons, a rainy season which lasts from November to March and dry season, which lasts from April to October. Visiting my last ancient world wonder was no cheap feat. Of course, there are less expensive ways to arrive to the citadel but I prefer speed and efficiency so I can maximize my trip. Here's the breakdown of how I did it and what it costed me in USD. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ I flew into Cusco airport and took a $30 Uber to Ollantaytambo so I could use that as a base. The town itself has some Inca sites to explore but I opted not to. I just wanted to be close enough to the @qhispikay.glamping site and the train station. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ Everything about your visit is pretty much time stamped. I suggest you book online in advance so you can choose the best train times for you before they get sold out (because they will). There are two trains you can take; PeruRail and Inca Rail. They offer slightly different times so it gives you a bit more options which is good. My train ride there was $104 (higher class) and coming back was $81 (slightly lower class). You ABSOLUTELY MUST have your passport on hand to board the train. Don't forget this! ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ After the 1.5-2h train ride, you'll arrive at the base of Machu Picchu in a town called Aguas Calientes. From here, I met my English speaking guide ($70 for groups up to 8 people) and he led me to where I needed to catch the bus ($32 round trip) for a very twisty but epic ride up to the entrance of Machu Picchu. Once there, the only restrooms are outside of the entrance. There are no in and out privileges on a basic ticket ($65) so refresh yourself before you go inside. I recommend purchasing a ticket to have lunch at the buffet once you're done exploring ($26). The food was very good! ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ Lastly, you have to be VERY mindful of the time you leave Machu Picchu because the line up to catch the bus to go back down can be like a mile long. There is a bus from Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Village, to the entrance of Machu Picchu, which costs $24 round trip and takes 30 minutes one way, but we had plenty of time so we decided to walk. If you go down a little from the town along the river, you will see a bridge and a hut on your left (second photo). Your Machu Picchu entrance ticket will be checked at this hut. After checking, cross the bridge and you will see a sign for the entrance to the mountain climbing on your right. The bus meanders up the mountain, but the trail route goes straight up. It is recommended for those with good stamina as there are many stairs. However, the distance is not long, so if you have time, it is good to take breaks as you go up. Looking back, you can see the magnificent mountain scenery, which makes you feel good. A word to people you pass: it is important to greet and give way to others. We had read in advance that it would take 3 hours, but in the end it took 55 minutes to get from the sign below to the top, so we ended up waiting for 2 hours. If you are in good shape, you should be able to see it for an hour and a half from the trailhead. If you are not confident in your stamina, it will take 2-3 hours plus the time from the town to the foot. On the way back, we went down in a quick 40 minutes. From what I saw, it seems that many people take the bus on the way there and walk down on the way back. There is a line for the bus on the way back, so you have to wait, and you don't need as much leg strength as you do on the way down. One thing to be careful of is that it gets dark under your feet later, so if you have bad weather or bad knees, or if it looks like it will get dark, you should wait for the bus. People were gathering at the entrance gate at the top of the climb about 30 minutes before the reservation time, but it opened right on time. There is no need to rush to line up. While we were waiting for our time, we saw a group that had eaten at a restaurant, went to the gate about 30 minutes late, and entered smoothly without waiting at all. Maybe it's a smarter way than standing on the left and waiting for 30 to 40 minutes? In fact, we were excited to line up at the front to take good photos, but in the end, the group from the previous time slot was stuck there and there were always a lot of people around. The train route to Machu Picchu, the round trip price is around 5,000 baht, about 2,000 baht per trip. The price depends on the season we went, if you look for the season, the round trip price will be around 5,000 baht. The price is quite high, but the view is worth it. It feels like looking at the view in Europe. It is a view of the Andes mountains and the Ulubamba River, an important river in Peru that brings together Inca culture here. Absolutely amazing experience!

Tickets were reserved through the official site two and a half months in advance. The only available slot for the popular Route 2 was at 3 PM. For those planning a solo trip to Machu Picchu, it’s best to secure your entry ticket as early as possible. After booking the entry ticket, there were no issues reserving buses, trains, or accommodations. Around 2:30 PM, people with 3 PM reservations started gathering at the gate, but entry was strictly allowed from 3 PM onwards. We lined up first, hoping to take photos with fewer people, but quickly caught up with the 2 PM group, making it pointless to be at the front of the line. If you need a guide, there are plenty available at the entrance, including some who speak Japanese. In hindsight, it might have been better to explore with a guide for detailed explanations. Inside, there were lines at photo spots, but since there are many scenic spots, there’s no need to focus on just one. You can enjoy breathtaking views from various locations. Restaurants and snack bars are outside the entrance, but they are priced for tourists. Essential items to bring include your entry ticket (online tickets on smartphones are acceptable), passport, hat, sunscreen, water, and comfortable walking shoes. Although it’s crowded, taking your time to explore is recommended. Machu Picchu is truly an incredible and magnificent place, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It’s definitely a destination that can be visited independently.

・9am Bus from Ollantaytambo The bus journey reaches altitudes of over 4000 meters above sea level, offering stunning views. We sat next to the driver, which was ideal as the road was winding. If you're prone to motion sickness, I recommend taking medication to fully enjoy the scenery. ・20-minute Break at Arqueologico de Huamanmarca There’s a small shop where you can buy food. The bathroom facilities are very basic and not recommended. The archaeological site is just 100 meters away with free entrance, so you can opt for a quick visit. ・1:45pm Arrival at Hydroelectric Power Plant 10km Trekking Begins The first 200-300 meters involve steep steps, which some people may find challenging, but that’s the only difficult part. The rest of the trail is flat and easy to walk. Many people walk along the tracks, so you can simply follow the railway lines without needing a map. We encountered a train once but quickly noticed the signal and moved to the side of the tracks. 4:15pm Arrival at Aguas Calientes We are fast walkers, so it might take longer for the average person. The bus costs 80 soles per person for a round trip. We booked it at a shop in Ollantaytambo, which was easy to find. 9am Friday: Ollantaytambo to Hidroelectrica 2pm Sunday: Hidroelectrica to Cusco You can choose to return to Cusco or Ollantaytambo for the same price. The choice depends on the timing of your Machu Picchu ticket. If you can book an early morning ticket, it’s possible to book the next day’s bus. However, since our tickets were for the afternoon, we had to book the bus for the day after. The town of Aguas Calientes is very touristy and westernized. Prices are higher than in other towns in Peru. There’s not much to see apart from Machu Picchu. The town is filled with gift shops, restaurants, and currency exchange shops catering to tourists. On the positive side, they use electric cars, and the area is surrounded by greenery, so the air is fresh and free of pollution.

Machu Picchu is a well-known and highly coveted destination. You also need to plan your time to get to the spectacular views. From Lima, Peru, take a plane for about 1 hour to Cusco, then a bus for about 2 hours from Cusco to Ollantaytambo Station, then a 1.5 hour train ride from Ollantaytambo Station to Machupicchu Village, then a 30 minute bus ride from Machupicchu Village. On the way to Machupicchu you go along the valley, but it is best to avoid the rainy season from November to April as there is a risk of landslides and rising rivers. Machu Picchu sells 1,000 tickets for the next day. After arriving at Machu Picchu, I went to the cultural center immediately and was able to get a numbered ticket. I was in the 800th place. I will post how to get one for reference. 1. Numbered ticket Numbered tickets are apparently distributed from 6am. Someone who lined up from 4:30 said they were in the 160th place. The early bird catches the worm. 2. Sales time The sales time is assigned according to the number on the numbered ticket. Return to the cultural center at the designated time. As you can see in the photo, the number of tickets is assigned to each circuit. There seem to be 600 tickets in total for the popular 2-A and 2-B. 3. Shuttle bus ticket Once you have your admission ticket, buy a bus ticket. You can purchase them at the bus ticket center along the river near the bus terminal. 4. Bus There is a designated waiting area for each admission time. You can also walk there, but you will have to climb a steep staircase. I wasn't able to get the 2-B ticket I wanted, but luckily I was able to get a ticket for 3-A. The mountain climb was tough, but I was very happy to be able to see Machu Picchu from the top!

I came to Machupicchu Village in Peru. The first village mayor here was Japanese, so it is similar to Japanese hot spring towns. There is actually a hot spring, so if you have time, I recommend you go. A river flows through the center of town, which is very charming. It is also very enjoyable to walk around. In Machupicchu Village, there are many shops, restaurants, and markets, so you can go to Machupicchu. Sightseeing the day before or after you return is also fun. I visited Circuit 1B in Machu Picchu, Peru. Circuit 1 in Machu Picchu only allows you to enjoy the view from the terraces and does not let you walk inside the site. The scenery is quite stunning, offering views reminiscent of the iconic photos of Machu Picchu seen in textbooks. Along the way, you can spot llamas within the ruins. However, this course is relatively short compared to others, and the fact that you cannot enter the interior of Machu Picchu is a major downside. The most recommended circuit is Circuit 2. However, since Circuit 2 is very popular and may sell out, if that happens, avoid Circuit 1 and opt for Circuit 3 instead.

I went to Machu Picchu, Peru. There are several circuits in Machu Picchu, but the courses have been revised since last year, and each one has been made worse. This time I went to Circuit 2 B. This place does not have a terrace course to view Machu Picchu from above, but you can walk inside Machu Picchu.
