My daughter and I stayed in a twin room for a night while we visited York University. The Hotel staff were warm and welcoming. They were kind and helpful and more than happy to let us leave our luggage there as we were too early for check in. The main lobby area is just like it looks in the photos. There is comfortable seating, a bar and a place to get food. The rooms are clean, comfortable and feel new. The whole place felt modern and fresh. It was a 15minute taxi ride from the station and a 5/6 minute walk to The Shambles area in York where there are loads of restaurants and cafes. I literally have nothing bad to say about it. We will be back to stay again hopefully in September.

The Grand Hotel boasts an excellent location, making it a convenient choice for exploring the city. However, the service fell short of expectations, especially considering its five-star rating. While it may be due to the busy tourist season, the level of service provided was inconsistent. In particular, the doormen and porters left a lot to be desired, with some interactions being notably poor. This detracted significantly from the overall experience, as such issues are not expected at a hotel of this caliber. Overall, while the hotel's amenities and location are commendable, the service quality needs improvement to truly match the standards of a five-star hotel.

The urban areas of small British cities are not large. This is an authentic-sized hotel. One side should be by the river. It is within walking distance of major attractions, including the train station, so it is very convenient. The hotel is good in all aspects. The only drawback is that the room I was assigned faces the side of the road where Mill House is located. The cars passing by in the morning were very noisy and I couldn't sleep in. The double-layer soundproof glass may not be used.

Stayed here for 1 night to watch a show at the Barbican, the hotel overall is great showing some signs of wear and tear but you can see this is being worked on. All main communal area looked great and well presented. We stayed in a basic double but there was more than adequate room for our stay and the cleanliness in the room was great. Bathroom again was small but very clean and usable with an amazing rain shower. Reception staff, housekeepers and Measure facilities staff were all very pleasant and wanting to give a good experience. The only area that I believe needs improvement sooner rather than later is the stair carpet from the car park into reception which doe not give the best impression of what you are going to find inside as it appears very dirty and worn. Would highly recommend, once past reception steps you will find the Milner Hotel fantastic

Good location and nice hotel. what a good day it’s a really super cool apartment which was great for family to stay and enjoy the holiday. LoL long time travel suitable and it’s worth to try and visit the city of york. There’s a supermarket which is enough for cooking dinner in the apartment kitchen. Quite good so far. That’s why I choose this hotel.

Great location. It's very new and clean. There is a round the clock bar with snacks and hot drinks which is a plus. The breakfast was better than most hotels of this category. It has got a gym as well. It's great. Staff are very friendly and helpful as well.

Great reception staff. The room was advertised as a ‘cosy double’ but it was a huge bed, huge room and small bathroom. The breakfast had an excellent selection which you could help yourself to. The one downside was that the walls were quite thin so you could hear people in the next room or talking while passing along the corridor.
