房子不甚大，白牆藍窗，極是素凈。推窗便見海，海水藍得發黑，又透着碧，浪頭一排排推過來，在礁石上撞得粉碎，散作無數白沫。初到時，正值午後，陽光斜射在水面上，跳動着萬點金星，晃得人睜不開眼。 屋裡陳設簡單，一床一桌一浴缸 被褥卻有陽光的氣味，想必是常曬的。 最妙的是院子裏的吧枱 不過三尺見方，擺着兩張藤椅，我常於傍晚時分，泡一壺本地的茶，坐在那裡看海。海水漸漸暗下來，由碧藍而深藍，而墨藍，終於與天色混作一團。漁火次第亮起，搖搖晃晃，像是被浪顛醉了的星子。 清晨，是被濤聲喚醒的。潮水一陣陣漫上來，又退下去，永不知疲倦似的。赤腳走到沙灘上，細沙從趾縫裡溢出，涼而軟。早起的漁民已經駕着小船出海了，在遠處縮成幾個黑點。 偶有風雨，便躲在屋裡聽雨打窗欞。海上的雨來得急，去得也快，轉眼又是晴空萬里。這時候空氣格外清新，帶着鹹味，吸一口，五臟六腑都舒展了。 住得久了，竟忘了時日。日曆上的數字，原不過是人自己畫下的牢籠。在這裏，時間是以潮汐計算的，生活是以日出日落為度的。 臨行前夜，月光極好，海面鋪了一條銀路，彷彿直通到月亮裏去。我想，大約蘇子瞻當年所見，也不過如此罷。

I chose this B&B on the last day of my trip and it was a great experience! The environment is also wrong. I booked a suite with a small balcony where I can hang clothes. There is a washing machine downstairs. I originally wanted to go to the sea. The B&B provides sea-going tools and there are free bicycles at the door. We rode to the coconut grove in the eastern suburbs. I went to catch the sea, but the tide didn't go out, so I played on the beach for a while, rode along the Huanhai Highway, and walked around Dongjiao Town for a while. It was really lively at night. There were many people outside the milk tea shops, reflecting the leisurely life of Hainanese! We thought about going back to the B&B to watch an outdoor movie, but it rained unexpectedly, so we decided not to do it. The next day we went to eat the breakfast rolls provided by the B&B. I have to say that the breakfast here was really rich and plentiful. I can’t choose between them, Dad’s tea is delicious and I recommend the iced coffee! Bonus points for being the most satisfying hotel I stayed in after traveling to Hainan for so many days!

This is really a very nice hotel, unexpected in a relatively small town. The room looks new and is very comfortable. I especially liked the cosy seating area near the window. Staff was exceptionally friendly as well. The immediate surroundings of the hotel are not very interesting, but the location is very convenient nonetheless: walking distance (20-30 minutes) to Qilou Old Street, only 2 bus stops away from the train station and also close to local buses to tourist areas such as Tonggu Ridge (though I've read not all sites there are open to foreigners, I mainly wanted to see Gusong fishing village and that's no problem) and Gaolong Bay. The only area of improvement is that this hotel has a tendency to keep calling customers before their stay (3 times I got an SMS in Chinese saying something like ”Meilin Hotel is going to call you, please pick up”, followed by a call from an unknown number). I can communicate in simple Chinese but am not great at doing phone calls in Chinese and in any case I hate this kind of insistent phone calls. I didn't pick up but after the second call checked with Trip.com what was wrong, expecting some major problem. It turned out the hotel just wanted to confirm a small change I had made to my booking, which had already been confirmed in the app anyway... While this attitude is perhaps meant as service, I perceived it as annoying and superfluous and I would strongly suggest the hotel stops harassing customers with phone calls unless there's a real emergency. Having said this, the staff on site in the hotel was exceptionally friendly and polite; this is one of the few hotels in China where staff members actually greeted me when I walked past reception, which was much appreciated! I definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again if I ever visited Wenchang again.

The room is very clean and large in size. The guy at the front desk upgraded the room type. The room is also on a high floor. The sound insulation effect is very good and you can have a quiet rest without being disturbed. The price is convenient and very affordable. It is very suitable for business trips and tourism. The room was small but clean and tidy, enough. The hot water is very sufficient, we are on the side of the residential building, very quiet and comfortable to sleep. The best thing is to walk ten minutes from Wennan Old Street, and there is a dad tea about 30 meters on the left hand side of the downstairs. It is delicious for two days. The front desk and floor aunts are very kind and friendly. Still very good.
