Holiday Inn VA Beach-Oceanside (21ST ST)

With summer standard rates for late August weekend in excess of $400 per night, you would expect a clean room. Not this place... What can I say good...early check in allowed and the decor is updated. That is where it ends. The room had a pungent musty/smoky smell. Hair found in the and shower walls. Dirt/sand on the floor. Sticky residue on the TV remote. Restaurant only had one cook if you didn't want the breakfast buffet, therefore it was a 20 - 30 minute wait despite many empty tables. Holiday Inn, you can do better.

So we were celebrating our 30th anniversary. It was our first vacation in six years. After we traveled over 187 miles for over three hours, we were told, "cash check ins are not accepted--cash check outs are accepted. I'm sorry ma'am this is our policy--credit card check in only." I asked the young lady at the desk to show me where it is written only because she said this policy could be found on the reservation portion of their web site. That was on June 13. It is now June 27, and I'm still waiting. I did see that a credit card is needed for incidentals and I had that covered. You may wonder why didn't I use my credit card. Well, I didn't have $1,700 available because I had in cash in my hands. I couldn't deposit the money because there is no USPSFCU branch in Virginia Beach. Her manager said "cash is unacceptable because cash is not kept in the hotel and if we were to cut our visit short, there would be no way to reimburse us." Call me bitter, angry or disappointed. But I believe something could have been worked out if they were interested. Our reservation was canceled and they provided me with a penalty-free refund to the credit card used to reserve the room. Then had the nerve to thank me for being a member. Being an IHG member did me absolutely no good!

Great hotel, great staff. Very clean and family friendly. Highly recommend. The location is perfect, the view is amazing and the restaurant is affordable but delicious! Best burger I’ve probably had! The restaurant is high class but affordable. The rooms were clean and spacious. I really don’t have anything negative to say. The valets were absolutely the best! Keive, Brian and Clark were so helpful with helping us find a parking spot and even recommending places to eat! Highly recommend this hotel. We will definitely stay here again!

This has got to be the friendliest hotel I've ever stayed at! We had to wait about 20 minutes before our room was ready, but we got compensated by having TWO free breakfasts! Our room was cleaned daily, which seems to be a rarity these days. Everyone who worked there was all smiles and was very happy to help us with whatever we needed. We would definitely stay there again!

The GOOD - The room was very nice, bed comfy, not much noise from rooms above or below. View of the beach from the balcony was gorgeous. The BAD - Every day we had to message the front desk for toilet paper and coffee even though the cleaning staff came in and brought fresh towels and emptied the trash. Or last day there we decided to have breakfast at the restaurant in the lobby. We elected not to have the buffet breakfast and instead each ordered an omelette. IT took almost 20 minutes for the breakfast to arrive and both omelettes were over cooked, brown and very tough. They were quite obviously under-staffed as there was only one waiter for the entire restaurant. Overall we would recommend this place. It is close to a lot of restaurants, shopping, and the beach.

We booked several rooms for a family visit and the customer service was A++. Linda at the front desk was so helpful and attentive . Rooms were clean and spacious and you cannot beat the location as it is right on the beach/boardwalk. We ate breakfast twice and the food was hot and fresh.

I don't travel that much for business but on occasion need to attend meetings out of state. I selected the Holiday Inn Oceanside as the reviews, very positive. It was a great experience, room and hotel looked like newly renovated, very clean well appointed room, on the 6th floor great ocean view, all rooms face the ocean, nice. Staff very friendly always spoke as I entered and exited the hotel. On other occasions I have stayed at Holiday Inn hotels in the past, but by far this was the best experience I have had at a Holiday Inn hotel. The food is outstanding, I stayed 5 nights and went to dinner at the bar each night, the girls working the bar, Paige and MJ I think , very nice. After having dinner the first night and was so pleased with the food decided why go out when it was so good here. Fish and Chips outstanding .Not sure if my work will take me back to VB but no question would stay here again.

I really liked this hotel and the decor of the entire property. Rooms and lobby areas felt very fresh. And the oceanfront balcony was wonderful. I'm a platinum member with IHG and much appreciated the warm welcome from the staff and the upgrade to a high floor. The nice, complimentary breakfast was great. I'd love to return soon.

Came to Va. Beach for the Neptune Festival for the third year, and this is the nicest hotel we've stayed in. Great location, all oceanfront rooms very nicely appointed. Good restaurant and very friendly, helpful staff.
