BEWARE!!! The photos posted must be from 10 years ago. This is the most disgusting hotel in Iceland. stay anywhere else. SEE MY PICTURES. No hotel attendant to help just a phone number that does not answer. could not even sleep here the beds are caving in and the bathroom is utterly disgusting. They refused to issue a refund or partial credit

We had a good stay at the volcano hotel. Overall the experience was good except for some nickel and dime’ing by the management. The hotel looks like a shack from the outside but that’s how most of the houses in that part of Iceland are. Bathroom was good. Beds very comfortable. Hotel did not have any staff after 8pm and they never come back until 7am. So you are on your own with just their number. The connectivity in Iceland is good so I am assuming if we had a problem, the staff would come immediately. We were charged for our kids while we were never told about this in the beginning when we booked. I would suggest staying inside vik and maybe not in this hotel which is in a farm of sorts some 8kms before Vik. Hotel offers free breakfast but we had to leave before the breakfast. Overall a decent stay in a modest hotel which is well maintained.
