The hotel is not in the town of Vik, but very close to the black sand beach, a five-minute drive away. The facilities are very comfortable, and it is the best configuration I have ever stayed in Iceland. My baby happened to have a fever at the time, so she rested in the hotel for an afternoon, and recovered the next day. I didn't take pictures of the room, but the interior is very warm, and it also has a kitchen counter. The hotel has a good view, and I also saw a beautiful sunset. After a night of rest, I continued on the road the next day with full energy.
Nice hotel property in beautiful little Vik. A very welcoming and pleasant staff greeted us. We chatted with the check in person plus bartender and both were easy to talk to and shared their experience of living in Iceland. The room was reasonably priced, comfortable and just right for our one night in town. The restaurant is situated so diners have a nice Mountain and church view, plus the food was very good. Breakfast buffet was way above average and included in the price. Our only regret was our lack of time we could spend in Vik, so many places, so little time.
The apartment was more spacious than we imagined, more than enough room for 2 adults and 2 children. Very clean and the laundry room was an extra bonus. Location was directly on 1 walking distance to restaurants, grocery store, black sand beach, etc. staff was very helpful even when we had a late check in. I’d highly recommend this place as a stop over between Golden Circle and Glacier Lagoon!

This was probably the biggest disappointment of our trip. It was the stay we were most looking forward to. The photos posted online led us to believe these cottages were in a quiet seaside nook where we would be able to sit on our deck and watch the ocean. We were shocked when we arrived. The cottages are in the busy little town core (lots of road noise), and between the cottages and ocean are commercial buildings and new hotel builds completely cutting off any ocean view. What’s more, directly in front of the cottages is a giant lot that filled with a huge field of no less than 50 families in campers outside our front door for the night. The cottage itself was plain with no artwork, beds were hard. Our TV did not work. Despite many tried we couldn’t get it to connect to Netflix or anything watchable other than BBC news. Our friends froze in their cottage. There is no soundproofing. Our friends shared the adjoining cottage (they are all joined with one another) and we heard every noise, their tv and most especially any time they left their room to go outside it would wake us up. The lock didn’t work properly so we couldn’t lock the front door at night. The bathroom is postage stamp sized without room for a shower so swing doors get popped out to shower. I spent the next 15 mins wading in 2 inches of water as I tried to dry off and get ready for the day. My husband had to use towels to stop the water flowing into the bedroom. Everyone else chose not to shower because of it. Hours later the floor hadn’t drained fully still. If you are going to stay here, taper your expectations.
Self-driving Iceland did not do a Raiders map in advance, and booked this hotel. Breakfast is average, the health looks pretty good, but there is hair on the bed, and I don’t know if the sheets are replaced, and the surrounding mines are empty. The most unexpected thing is to take off the shoes at the door, but do not provide disposable slippers. Put a few pairs of dirty slippers at the door and say that you should wear slippers. If you have already booked it, you can't cancel it. Although I don't dare to book a hotel in advance during the tourist season in Iceland, I can live in the road after I experience it.
My visit to Vik, Iceland, will be etched in my memory forever. The hotel was a reflection of the spectacular land that surrounds it, with impeccable cleanliness and exceptional quality. The owner, a young woman who was attentive and friendly, made me feel at home. But the true spectacle was witnessing the Northern Lights, a phenomenon that defies description. This place was not just a stopover; it was the stage for one of nature's most magnificent displays that I had the privilege to witness.
We stayed here as the mid-point stop on our way to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. It is true that because it’s one of the larger hotels in the area, it is used by large tour groups, but that did not interfere with our stay at all. It is a roadside hotel, don’t expect any luxuries, but perfect for a one or two night stay. The rooms are very spacious and clean (because it’s a busy hotel, your room may not be ready before check-in time). The restaurant is large and they were able to accommodate us with no problem for dinner, and their breakfast buffet (included in the rate) is fantastic. It also has a great view. The location is great, close to Dyrholaey, Vik and Reynsfjara (black sand beach). Pro-tip: if you have dirty laundry, they will do it for you for about $25 per bag regardless of the size. I thought it was expensive so didn’t do it, and regretted it - everywhere else was either more expensive or didn’t offer the service at all. The staff works so hard - I saw the same person cleaning my room helping out at the restaurant, and everyone was very pleasant.
Hotel Katla is located a few miles outside Vik. There is a central building that houses the restaurant and a number of separate buildings with guest rooms. There is an outside hot tub and a small lake. The rooms are good quality and spacious. The breakfast room is large and the breakfast was fine although we often had wait for items that had run out to be topped up. There is plenty of parking on site.

GGuest UserGentle people in the reception desk, clean place, really comfortable beds and soft bed sheets. Nice architecture design and aesthetics. I booked one night in the Hostel part, so I slept with lots of different people in the same room. This means that you will have ofcourse the other people's sounds in the bedroom, and it;s ok when everyone is showing some empathy for the others around. But even if you are with other people, there are these perfect minimal curtains on each bed which can create a dark warm place for you to sleep like when you were in your mothers belly ^_^ hehe There is also a ”private lamp” inside of each bed space which you can use with your curtains close and have some privasy iwith light at night too! I assume that the private rooms will be nice, as well. I totally recommmend it if you need a place for a night. The sourrounding view is awesome, too as well as the places you can visit in this area!

Vik Town
JJQKABBQSee point one: the black sand beach, the black sand beach where the waves are tumbling, is legendary as a place to seal the trolls. In its dark series, there is also a gentle part of it that is integrated, perhaps the red of the sunset. Walking on the beach, rubbing with black sand and stone, making a "sand noise", even the soft stone is love your shape. Waiting slowly, I enjoy the process, the sunset, the coastline, the door of the island in the distance seems to be opened. The tumbling waves, black sand and white foam, and the red sunset, make this ancient lava flow purely natural formation of columnar joints and natural Renes rock add a mystery. See point two: the red-top church in the church town is a landmark building of Vic, nearly 90 years ago, but you can see its full view from the hill, backed by the mountains, facing the sea, and you can see Ren Li on the coast in the distance. Wide view point three: Dijolari to the peninsula mountain top road is more potholes, driving should pay attention to avoid, the end of the mountain top platform is the Dyrhdlaeyjarviti lighthouse; there is also the coastal reef horn (specific arched door) here is also called the island gate. , a good place to watch birds in summer Puffin. Standing above the Dihorari Peninsula facing the sea, the left bank overlooks vik black sand beach and Rennes rock; the right bank is an endless coastline

CCindywxyzVolcanic rock moss landscape Iceland has a unique tundra landscape, many places covered with dense moss, soft texture. Because of the cold climate in Iceland, moss grows very slowly and, once damaged, it takes decades or even hundreds of years to recover, so it cannot be trampled or pulled at will.
