Hotels with Breakfast in Umhlanga

We had an Amazing experience at the Holiday Inn Express, Umhlanga. This has to be one of the best service I've experienced (local and international included). Wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this Establishment. Check in was awesome. Brendan and team were extremely Welcoming, Friendly and Efficient. We were settled into the room in no time as well as informed of all the amenities. We traveled as a group and the team helped us to get rooms close to each other which was so convenient. Breakfast was scrumptious and the service exceeded our expectations. Trisha and the team take their work and service to customers so seriously - like it's their own company. My son wanted Chocolate muffins and they baked it specially for him - how amazing is that! We were leaving early to the airport and Trisha offered to have breakfast ready from 5am - was so impressed and grateful. This has to be one of the best hotels across the world. Kudos to the team and leadership. Highly recommend anyone to not hesitate to book here. Thanks so much guys

The hotel is in a great location and the staff were helpful and friendly. I didn't particularly like the restaurant/ room service menu as it ONLY had milkshakes on their drinks menu. You have to inquire about other drinks like wine, juices, coffee etc. It would be nicer if all the drinks prices were listed. The kettle in my room was dirty but housekeeping and the front desk were apologetic and replaced it with a clean kettle quickly. Every cafe or restaurant around the hotel opens at 9a.m, so I recommend paying for the hotel breakfast buffet if you're an early bird like me. I learnt about loadshedding after coming back from a day out and finding no power except a light and the tv in my room. For foreign guests who don't know about it, it might be a nice touch if the hotel could place the loadshedding schedule in guest rooms so it doesn't come as an unwelcome surprise. The bed was comfy and the wifi was usually fast. Overall, I had a good stay at the hotel.

The Beverly Hills is and always has been a wonderful experience. Staff are above and beyond in their service. Rooms overlook the sea and have spectacular sunrise and sunsets. All meals are exceptional, breakfast on the terrace with its amazing buffet is a delight to start the day.

I thought I’ve been to the best in Durban until visiting The Oyster Box. All I can say is wow! This place is truly remarkable. There is so much of character and warm hospitality everywhere. The staff here are what make this place so special. Rooms - I’ve stayed in the Classic Garden Facing, Classic Sea Facing and Luxury Sea Facing rooms. All of them are luxuriously appointed with all the comforts one would require. Garden facing rooms are actually huge and overlook the lush tropical gardens (except for the room at the end of the hallway, this has practically no view so be sure not to take this room). There is not much difference between classic and luxury sea facing except that luxury has both a bath and shower and the bed faces the ocean. It’s definitely worth paying extra for the sea facing rooms. Being literally a few steps away from the Indian Ocean makes the views outstanding. There are many different design variations per room and all are beautiful. My favorite were the neutral beiges and grey tones though. I initially thought that the rooms would not feel warm and hotel-like enough since they are tiled in ice white, but it was actually just perfect. Pools - there are two pools. Both temperature controlled with excellent poolside service. One is set in the lush tropical gardens nearby to the spa. This is quieter and is lovely for a morning swim. The other is an infinity pool which is beside the Ocean Terrace restaurant. It overlooks the ocean and lighthouse which is absolutely gorgeous. The staff around the pool are really wonderful and obliging. Thanks to Thobile and her team. My only gripe with this main pool is that the area feels a little bit tight and not private enough. Loungers are packed really close together. It’s also adjacent to the Ocean Terrace restaurant where a lot of outside guests frequent so this area can feel crowded at times. I guess there isn’t much that can be done here because of space constraints and it’s still a lovely experience nonetheless. Spa and gym - visited the spa previously and it’s a destination on its own. Staff are amazing and treatments are lovely. It is on the pricier side though (possibly more geared towards foreigners). The Hammam and steam room are great and is complimentary for hotel guests in the mornings. Gym is basic but has all the necessary equipment and offers complimentary water and towel etc. - I love that it overlooks the greenery. Had a massage at the poolside which was fabulous. Lusanda is a true gem. Dining - we’ve only had the breakfast and no other meals since there are no halal options available. Breakfast was lovely but honestly nothing special or unique. I do feel that given the rates charged per night, the breakfast spread could be bigger. There is room for improvement here if I compare to other SA hotels like The Table Bay. This is a comfortable business hotel. Rooms are decently sized and bathrooms are okay too, the washbasin is a small one though. Couple of bummers : Gave one glass bottle of water, replenishments were in the form of plastic bottles. If you ask for the same glass bottle (which I do because of environmental reasons), they don't give it. Breakfast was very decent and overall service was good. A big issue is that they dont have room service for food. They have only beverages that can be ordered to your rooms! The reason is 'we have many restaurants around us'. I found this to be funny. Hotel is well located and opt for higher floors for good views.

My first time at this hotel. Very disappointing. Lets elaborate: 1. The initial meeting when checking in was very pleasant, but unfortunately dealing with the morning crew was just painful. L*nd* was just plain uninterested when I asked about room options, I almost got the impression that he was being spiteful because I was taking up his time. No*iph* was also unpleasant to deal with. Even though I am a gold member she just demonstrated a rigid attitude to any of my requests. Thanks to Basheer who I escalated to and who upgraded and even discounted my parking. 2. It seems that unless you escalate even a simple thing like requesting a towel to a duty manager then it doesnt happen. We were ignored when we asked for liquid soap and a replacement iron and only received towels after escalating. Thanks to duty managers both named Andile for supporting me in this regard but these are really not things that I ask for that require begging. Overall this hotel didnt make me feel like a gold member or like someone who visits Durban on average 8 times a year and is always looking for a hotel. It seems that its only Hilton by name and soap products and not by culture. I would like the Hotel GM to contact me to discuss how this hotel will actually make me feel like a (Gold) guest going forward.

well! The best hotel in the class, the neighborhood is very safe, fast food, Chinese and Western food are available, the beach is very beautiful, but a bit expensive, but it is worth it, five-star worth experiencing

Apart from being allocated the Cheetah room as opposed to the Yellowood room our booking was confirmed for, we were impressed with the quality of accommodation, offering secure parking albeit a little tight, and the location which is well within walking distance of Umhlanga Village. Although we did not take the breakfast option or make use of the pool and bar, we would highly recommend Anchor's Rest as an ideal establishment for a short stay.

What an elegant hotel. Beautiful spacious rooms, the staff is attentive and friendly. There’s a lot of restaurants around the hotel to choose from, the ocean is within a walking distance. I’ll definitely stay here next time I’m in Durban!
