⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “An Unexpected Maze of Delight” If you’re looking for delicious food, sparkling clean rooms, and the kind of hotel layout that makes you question whether you’ve accidentally entered a witness protection program — this is the place for you. Let’s start with the food: Chef’s kiss. I’d drive across three postcodes and two mildly illegal U-turns just to have their breakfast again. The scrambled eggs? Fluffy little clouds of joy. The bacon? So crispy it filed for emancipation. And the dinner? Let’s just say I proposed to my dessert. The room? Immaculate. Clean enough to perform surgery in. I dropped a piece of popcorn behind the bedside table and found absolutely no dust, no suspicious stains, and no mystery hair. 10/10, would snoop again. Now… the layout. Imagine booking a room at a lovely hotel. You check in at the front desk, all smiles and suitcases, and then they hand you a map that looks like it was drawn by a drunk pirate. “Just follow the driveway, take a left at the third bush, go behind the laundry shed, ignore the goats (they’re decorative), and your room is the one just past the third time you question your life choices.” I drove around the back like I was trying to escape from the FBI. Every turn felt like a side quest. I found myself in areas where I wasn’t sure if I was still on hotel property or had entered Narnia. Google Maps gave up. Even Siri was like, “Dude, you’re on your own.” BUT — once I did find my room, it was like discovering a hidden treasure. Peaceful, quiet, with views of a tree that may or may not have judged me. And honestly? It was all part of the charm. You don’t forget a place like this. Would I stay again? Absolutely. I just might drop breadcrumbs next time so I can find my way back.

probably great if you're planning on spending a weekend there but for somewhere to just spend the night, it is a bit expensive. it was clean and nice and the beds were comfortable.

If booking online, you need to take a physical credit card with you as identification. Only found out once I arrived at location.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wairakei Resort. Room was very clean even though they were super dated. The facilities were awesome - we loved the playground and the pools! The spa was set in a beautiful location and the grounds were very pretty. Would have loved to have been off the ground floor though. Weren’t enough parks for the wing we stayed in was the only issue I felt.

The room is standard size but quite dated, the heated pool is a joy to use. Location is 10 minutes drive from the lake side.

I like the facilities available, got my room on a special rate but the room is definitely not worth the rate they charge. Room clean but is tired.

The hotel has many resort facilities, but I didn't use them because I was not well prepared. I will learn more next time.

The hotel is a historic resort with a beautiful and natural environment, hot springs, Victorian architectural style, and well-arranged villas and buildings. There are also entertainment and leisure facilities for children. There were no twin rooms when we checked in, so the front desk upgraded us to a family villa and added an electric heater. The service was very thoughtful and meticulous, the room was clean and warm, the bedding was comfortable, and it was a very good stay. I recommend everyone to stay there.

The price/performance ratio is relatively high when breakfast is not included, but it is just average when breakfast is included 🙂

The room was very hot and could only be cooled by an electric fan. The front desk did not find the order when checking in, and it took a long time to check in. The room was old, but the location was convenient.

The resort is a bit old, so the facilities are a bit worn, but the grounds are spacious and there are a variety of activities to enjoy, so it's a great place to spend time with your family!

It’s rare to see a hotel of this size in New Zealand~ It’s a bit like an old five-star~ There is a small outdoor hot spring, but when we went there the temperature was about zero at night and the water temperature was not too hot. It takes courage to start the water~
