Compared to other luxury brands I found Grand Hyatt customer service to be extremely unaccommodating and lacking in care. In my email correspondences I was addressed as a woman even though my first name is clearly a common male name, Michael.
I ended up just booking my usual hotel to stay in from the Shangrila-La brand because my initial correspondences with the Hyatt made me feel like I would not be taken care of. Hyatt just wasn’t for me.
So yes, I paid for a room and never showed up because I don’t want to put myself in a situation where I’m uncomfortable.
