The LaLit Grand Palace Srinagar

My wife and I visited The Lalit Grand Palace Srinagar, India from Jan. 18-23, 2025 to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. This was our 12th visit to the hotel in Srinagar. We are extremely fond of this specific property of The Lalit. Just to give a background, we've celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary, the 29th and now the 30th. Earlier, we had also celebrated the 50th wedding anniversary of my parents, and these are stories for another day. Coming back to our recent visit the entire staff was so courteous right from the moment we landed in Srinagar on the 18th. The in-house hotel chauffeur Irshad bhai, was an amazingly wonderful person and was with us during our stay ready to go wherever we wanted too. So understanding and patient and not to mention his driving skills. At no point of time did we feel unsafe or concerned for our safety. Well mannered and an appropriate trained chauffeur. The welcome reception was traditional and warming. Mr. Pintu, the Manager in- charge and his supporting staff were full of warmth. The traditional Kahwa is always a delight to sip upon this time of the year. The hospitality of the Food & Beverages department was out of the world and we were truly blessed to have been receiving such attention. Executive Chef, Mr. Sudarshan Sharma, the Manager in-Charge Mr. Amit Dwivedi, Mr. Shyam and the staff of whom I can recall a few names i.e., N.S. Negi Sahib, Wasim, Santosh, Aijaz, Dhanish, Safiya etc. Aryan, the young bartender was full of ideas and his new list of his own innovative cocktails were refreshing and the presentation itself was an eye candy. The taste of his unnamed Tamarind cocktail and the home-made Baileys was simply out of the world. With a little more encouragement this guy can make the bar rock around. The Spa was relaxing with the masseurs, Ms. Ishrat and Chandan doing a wonderful job & the Saloon services obtained from Ms. Ishrat were satisfying for My Lady. The sudden meeting with Mr. Vijay Handa (the Advisor-Hotel Operations), all set, waiting and eager to discuss with us on what more the hotel could work upon to enhance the tourist experience. Frankly, I’ve been probably the 12th time to The Lalit Grand Palace with my wife and it’s always been a wonder experience. However, we did discuss avenues of interest and was an amazing person to have taken so much of interest in us for the same. Since the morning of the anniversary the entire entourage of the staff wishing us all day through and the evening was full of surprises with a wonderfully baked delicious cake and a photo of us on a chocolate made photo frame. The attention to detail just made the entire celebrations memorable. And as if, that was not enough, the next morning we receive a beautiful paper mash photo frame with the staff during the in-room celebrations. Finally, as every tourist the day to return back home arrives and the farewell was so touching with the Front Desk and Mr. Pintu and Mr. Handa (the Advisor-Hotel Operati

Thanks so much for the beautiful experience during our stay at this property of Taj Dal view Srinagar. Sunny Sharma from the restaurant treated us like family and he made sure all our requests were taken care of. Payel from restaurant was very welcoming and always greeted us with smile. Sohail from IT department was extremely quick in responding to our queries regarding tv cable. Iqbal Ji was very helpful in getting my kids Maggie when the Taj property didn’t service the meal like Maggie. He made sure that he gets it from outside and get it prepared asap for the kids. I mean there is so much I can talk about people and staff that pleased us during our entire stay. The spa was available to be used for steam even when the staff wasn’t available for massage due to their personal issues. I will highly recommend staying with TAJ Dal view Srinagar for such a memorable experience. Truly unforgettable

A hotel inside a shopping complexes. The whole complex was shabby and cold. When we arrived the receptionist had poor understanding of English. The hotel was completely empty and the restaurant had a sign saying “Opening Soon” printed on paper and stuck with tape. This was like a warning of a poorly operated establishment. Rooms: Warning Noise: look outside your window and check for the generator next to it. The first room we were put in was right next to it. When I asked to move they said it was not a problem it will be off in 30 minutes. It did go off but we had to bear that noise for too long. Warning Cold: the room was like a fridge. It is large and sparsely furnished. There was no way the heater/AC was going to make it bearable. After two hours of complaining and multiple visits by “technicians” and other foolish people they moved us to a smaller room where at least a tiny bit of heat was coming from the heater/AC. They supplied another tiny fan heater and by about 11pm the room was bearable. The bathroom remained like a fridge. Warning Dirty Bathroom: the bathroom had long hairs in the sink and on the floor. You could see dust in various places. The water that filled the bucket was yellowish! Rusting pipes or worse? They didn’t switch on the hot water so we had to ask them. It obvious there is some pressure pump on the hot side but none on the cold supply so it was difficult to get warm water. It was either scolding hot or freezing with a tiny movement of the adjustment. Warning Restaurant: the place had a forlorn and empty feeling. All the tables had a layer of dust which showed that they had no guests for a long time and nobody expected they would come. The food was pathetic. Service: this place was like a comedy sketch. The characters were surly and not at all understanding to the meaning of dealing with guests and seemed completely oblivious to the obvious failures as though this was normal and to be expected. The owner must be loosing in crores their investment in this pathetic attempt at running a hotel.

Brilliant service. Loved the hospitality from the staff. Staff was very caring and always willing to look after the guests. We had one of the best Thai green curry. Overall food quality was excellent. I would strongly recommend this Hotel. Afreena, Ishfaq Bhat, Sajad, Mujeeb, Tanveer and Abid were all very helpful.
Golden Tulip Srinagar

The hotel is very good in Srinagar. It is built against the mountain and is very safe. There is the only entrance to the mountain below, and the UN observer camp is below the hotel. There is a place to eat when you go out, and it is very convenient to go to the center of Srinagar nearby, walking to Banda Lake. The room is not small and hot water is enough. The breakfast was good.
