Step into the legendary site where King Fouad once entertained and Agatha Christie sipped cocktails: the 5-star Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Aswan Hotel. In the Nubian Desert on the banks of the Nile, opposite Elephantine Island, the majestic hotel sits on a pink granite cliff overlooking the world's longest river. This ravishing hotel with its legendary guest list of royals and dignitaries is both ideal for romantic getaways, and a perfect venue for small summits and corporate meetings.

"Many celebrities have stayed at this hotel, where I enjoyed the view worth seeing from anywhere while staying in a fabulous room. Especially the view of the Nile from the rooms is breathtakingly beautiful. I can't help feeling how much effort goes into maintaining the hotel's facilities, including the garden. Moreover, as an attention to detail, towels in the room are embroidered with the hotel logo, and the cotton package containing the hair dryer is also embroidered with ”Wonderful hair begins with a little wind” . I would like to express my respect to all the people who have continued to put such attention to detail into their work! I would highly recommend this hotel and I look forward to visiting again in the near future!"

"This is a very contradictory B&B hotel that I don't know if it is worth recommending. Its shortcomings and advantages are very prominent. It is suitable for Internet celebrities to make photos (the following photos are all original photos without retouching), but it is not suitable for anyone who has certain requirements for ”accommodation” itself. If you can find any cheap + clean + similar scenery alternative hotel, it is recommended to change it, but if it is just for taking pictures and scenery, it may be ranked at the top in Nubian Village. First of all, you have to be able to tolerate: 1. The hotel price is not cost-effective in the peak season, and the B&B offers the price of a five-star hotel. 2. Poor room facilities, rough-style furniture and narrow rooms, worrying bed sheets, bathroom shower water overflowing and drainage is useless, no slippers, toothbrushes, hair dryers (phone front desk can provide). 3. The breakfast is self-service and extremely simple and unpalatable, unlike some people who commented on the set and inexplicably praised it. 4. Tolerate or pay more to continue to tolerate the complaints of the chartered driver to drive into Nubian Village, and then contact the hotel by yourself in the middle of the night to change to a three-wheeled motorcycle in the deserted and dark mountains for 15 minutes to doubt life and reach the mountaintop hotel. 5. Other prices are very unreasonable. We originally wanted to book dinner for the New Year's Eve party, but it cost 100 US dollars per person... What did we get here? 1. The balcony of the room can see the unbeatable sunrise on the west bank of the Nile. We witnessed the first light of 2025 here at 6 am. 2. The various poses in the cultural buildings of the Nubian Village are very photogenic. 3. The desert next to the hotel is very photogenic. 4. A very special cultural experience of a group of tourists jumping up and down the mountain in a row of three-wheeled vehicles. 5. The hotel service staff is relatively friendly. Finally, it is explained that Egypt is not a country where tipping is allowed. Carrying luggage is a basic service of any hotel in their country. No one asked for tips during the entire stay."

"The hotel was beyond my expectation. First of all, when we checked in, the front desk saw that we were a family of three and upgraded us to a three-bed room for free. In Egypt, where prices are high, this service is particularly good. Secondly, the hotel has a beautiful river view. Although it is not at the old waterfall, the river view here is not bad. There is a pier next to it, so it is also convenient to take a sailboat. We made an appointment for a sailboat at the pier outside at night, and the boatman took us directly to the hotel's pier after the end. It was super convenient. The downside is that the breakfast is white rice, which is not delicious and barely full. But I didn't eat anything delicious in Egypt."

"The scenery is quite good. The service attitude is quite average. I went to the front desk and asked if I could pay for the room in Egyptian pounds. My attitude was extremely harsh. I didn't want to move to the hotel on the second night, so I inquired about extending my stay. The front desk asked me to go back to the room and call me. In the end, I didn't receive a call, so I checked out directly. The rooms in this hotel are quite large, and the facilities are relatively old. It feels like they are chosen by locals. In addition, you must choose the number of people according to the actual number. I accidentally selected one person, and ended up paying a price difference of dozens of dollars."

"The check-in process became a bit unpleasant as their stated policies did not match what was written in our trip.com booking confirmation. This included check-in time and number of guests for the room. We included our children and even had their ages listed in the confirmation. Upon check-in we were told that it was only a room for two adults. We were then instructed to pay extra for one child. Policies should be conveyed clearly when booking so we can know what to expect. Otherwise, the room had a beautiful view and the kids enjoyed the large pool. The breakfast buffet had a great selection."

"It was late at night when we landed on the island. We left before dawn. I felt a bit disappointed that I didn’t see the river view. I hope I can come again next time. After all, it’s only over a hundred dollars. It’s good to have an outdoor private bath."

"This trip to Egypt was five stars throughout. This hotel is indeed unique. I will record it for your reference: 1. There are not many employees, and they are generally gentle. They are not like old-fashioned people, not overly enthusiastic, and not cold. 2. The hotel is on the mountain. You have to cross the bridge to play, so it is more convenient to drive by yourself. The house is converted into a villa style, and there is no elevator. When you check in, they will help you move your suitcases, and you need to walk down the stairs when you check out. 3. The air conditioner is on the wall; the bedding and towels are clean, but the bed is soft and collapses when you sit down; one leg of the desk is loose and shaking, the toothbrush in the bathroom is very hard, it is best to bring your own, the toothpaste is in a bag, and some of them have dried up after being opened, and have become toothpaste dry; the lotion attached to the sink is separated from the water and oil. Maybe the room temperature is too high? When flushing the toilet, a little water will gradually come out, and you have to lift it up every time to flush it. 4. There is no telephone in the room, and room service is not available. It is said that you can add Xiaohongshu to contact. After adding, I sent a message but no one responded. It may also be that they saw that the language is not fluent and no one replied. No one answered the phone in the public area on the first floor. We didn't know what the problem was. We had no choice but to call the front desk or run there in the hot open air. 5. When I asked where the breakfast place was, they refused to tell me and I had to call the front desk for golf pick-up. I called on the first day and made an appointment. After waiting for a few minutes at the agreed time, they didn't come. I had to call again. This trip, I used the international long-distance roaming phone exclusively for this hotel. When we arrived at the restaurant, we found that it was not far from our room, so we simply walked back after eating. 6. The breakfast was as shown in the picture, simple and edible. You had to ask the staff for milk. 7. The following is a weird air-conditioning experience: When I checked in on the first afternoon, I felt that the room was warmer. I thought it was because of the sun. When it was night, except for the air conditioner right below, other places were warmer. The air conditioner was always on, and the room temperature did not drop. The temperature was set to the lowest and the wind was set to the maximum. The wind was very small, but I didn't sweat straight. I could bear it, so I thought it was okay. Who would have thought that a five-star hotel in this era would still have insufficient air conditioning? Before going to bed at night, it was so warm that I moved the quilt off the bed. I was woken up by the heat in the middle of the night. I felt that the quilt was hot, and then I realized that there must be something wrong with the air conditioner. I went to the front desk to repair it in the morning. The response was quite fast. They came to repair it immediately. We were in a hurry to go out, so we let the repairman fix it himself. After returning to the room at night, I turned on the air conditioner and felt that the sky had fallen. It was still the same. The air outlet was slightly cool, and other places were warm. I had to go to the front desk again. The front desk was kind and could continue to repair it or change rooms. They discussed it for a while and said that it could be repaired. In the spirit of repairing it if it can be repaired, they repaired it again. The maintenance worker took apart the filter of the wall-mounted air conditioner to wash it. The filter was full of dust and dirt. After the filter was washed and installed, it was tested for a while. The fan was adjusted up and down and responded, and the temperature adjustment also changed. This is a normal air conditioner. Could it be that we had been blowing a little weak wind through the gap of the dirty filter the day before? 8. After repairing the air conditioner, I found that a corner of the quilt cover near the air conditioner was hanging on the ground. It was already dirty because of people walking around. I couldn't bear to bother anyone anymore, so I just wiped it myself. Because we were with children, three towels were put in the bathroom today. This aspect was more careful, so I didn't have to go to the front desk or international long-distance room service. But the area over there for toothbrushes and toothpaste was not cleaned up or replenished. Thanks to the cleaning staff for folding beautiful peacocks, and please be more careful when tidying up. In summary, the soft and hard furnishings of this hotel are different from other five-star hotels. I don't know how the platform rates hotels with five stars. It feels like a homestay."

"Old-style hotel. On a slope. It's OK to walk to the dining area. It's really inconvenient to be on the slope. Compared with the hotel in the previous trip. The facilities of this hotel are really old. But it's still clean and tidy. There's nothing wrong with it. It's just that compared with the new equipment, the cost performance is really not high enough. Because the price of the hotel in the previous trip is similar, but the experience is better. The room has its own balcony. It's OK to dry clothes. The hotel has its own restaurant. The breakfast variety is also quite satisfactory, but I personally feel that there are not many things I can eat. Generally, I just eat omelette and fruit. Other bread slices or some beans, I don't like to eat. My friend booked a room facing the river. But because it is on the slope and not so close to the river, this river view room is not so cost-effective. The view of the swimming pool. It is indeed a good place for this hotel to be photographed. We also saw someone holding a wedding here that day. It's really unfriendly to take a taxi in this city. Compared with other cities, the drivers here are really..."
