Grovefield House Hotel

We had a wonderful Ruby Wedding lunch party celebration for 70 people at Grovefield House Hotel on Sunday. Our guests were able to choose in advance from a three-course menu and commented on how delicious each of their choices were. The children were also able to preorder choices from their own three-course menu. Hotel Manager Ashley was helpful, efficient and highly professional throughout. We were grateful to him and to Lauren, Shelley, Chinwe, Adam, and all the lovely team on the day for their friendly, professional and generous hard work. They could not have done more for us. Guests with families also commented on how helpful they were with the children. The tables were laid out beautifully and we loved the pretty flowers and candles added by florist Debby Connell. Thank you all so much for a fantastic and memorable day, we couldn’t have enjoyed it more. We look forward to seeing you again before long and enjoying more of the exciting new things on offer at Grovefield!

Well I am not sure where to start - it was one of the nicest hotel stays I have experienced (I travel a lot and stay in lots of hotels) The staff are so well trained and none of them miss a beat. Shortly after I made the reservation online I received a call to ask me if there was anything special we were celebrating (my husband and I have been together 30 years) or if there was anything we wanted to prebook such as spa and dinner reservations (I have never had a call in advance before. The arrival was equally smooth, we had barely stepped out of the car when the doorman asked if he could unload our luggage. The check in was quick and almost as soon as we arrived to our room the doorman was putting our bags and my garment bag in the wardrobe for us. We had been upgraded to a deluxe room which was spacious with a sitting area. There was also ample coffee pods and a kettle. - so many hotels cant even provide these items these days or 1/2 coffee pods. We both had a massage and I had the sleepy one which was one of the most relaxing I have had. Before dinner in the Astor Grill we had drinks in the cosy bar, dinner was great. Breakfast was very great and the setting was very grand, I dont think I have had breakfast in such a grand setting. After breakfast we did a lovely 2 hour walk around the grounds and along the river. As we had a guaranteed late check out we made use of the spa again in the afternoon. I dont think any member of staff put a foot wrong- hats off to their training manager.

Tried to check in at desk but couldn't. Someone came out and went to a cupboard and spoke to us with their backs to us so we couldn't hear them. Pleasant enough chap, but a silly place to have their computer located. Got in to room Friday 4pm. Came downstairs to meet family. No one behind bar. All serving at a wedding. Had to keep looking for staff to buy a drink. So many people waiting. So very expensive too. Had dinner in the Brasserie about 20 of us. The staff were amazingly helpful, although not enough of them so very slow. Got up and couldn't get out of our room. Called 0 to call reception. No response. ( This was the case every time. ) Thank goodness there was not a fire, apparently the phone had been disconnected to reception. I had to call a friend who went to reception. Someone came to room, got someone else, maintenance called, they came and basically kicked the door in. We were told to go to breakfast, they would locate us elsewhere and keep an eye on stuff in room. Breakfast was delicious, plenty to eat. Hubby went back to room while I met another member of family. When I got back to room we had not yet been moved. Waited another 20 mins. Hubby went down. Moved to room on 2nd floor. Said they would help us down when leaving Sunday. We then had a mad rush to get ready as parents of groom and got to wedding at Tudor Barn with minutes to spare. Checking out and, of course, no one was answering the phone in reception. A cleaner helped us down with our stuff. Upon checking out we were told no phone was connected to reception. So dangerous to lead people into believing help is at other end of phone when, in reality, this couldn't have been further from the truth. So glad they wedding was not held there. The staff did their best and were apologetic. Certainly would not recommend at all.

The Hotel was incredible good located, the Garden surrounding the Hotel was amazing. The breakfast was quite full and also the food was fresh. The bar tender Silvester was amazingly kind, and he was really keen on preparing all cocktails. The receptionist Walmer was also so kind, we forgot the charger adapter and he gave us one! Also he was always prepared to solve any questions we had!! Our experience was much more of what we were expecting. I definitely recommend this Hotel, not only for the building but for all the staff!! Definitely my Number one come back 🇦🇷
