I love the scenery! The atmosphere is great and the pool is great too! However, replies are so slow that it is very difficult to communicate via email.

hotel done fixed their mistake from the website I booked. When we arrived they told us we need to pay extra tax & no bkft included. But we showed them the itinerary that we payed. Hotel( Guillermo ) initiatively solve the mistake for us, which is a very good move! Allow us to enjoy more in the beautiful trip. Restaurant waiters are super kind and pay attention on their guests which is five star service we expected all the time. Thanks Walter giving us a wonderful experience. Also the one who assisted us bring luggage downstairs in this morning, Axel was super detail oriented in service, perspected our needs!! He deserved more! Thanks for those beautiful exp. your colleagues made our trips easy & enjoyable!

As the Banyan Tree service did not have to say, that is, the charges are expensive, even the expensive is not good for hygiene, the pool villas, the small collapse in the yard can not lie, placed in the corner of the eaves do not say mosquitoes There are many ant bugs and a lot of spider webs. It looks dirty. The colony is also covered with insect secretions and spider webs. The partitions in the room are all gray, which makes people feel uncomfortable. And if it is too far to go to the beach, it is not convenient. It can only be said that this Banyan Tree is relatively backward, not as good as the nearby Viseroy.

Stayed a week at Sandos Playacar with our family of 6 - childrens ages range from 11-17. Here was our experience: Staff: Hotel staff, wait staff, and cleaning staff were all extremely friendly and attentive. We had one marginal experience with a server in a very busy restaurant, but after having the same server later in the week (who remembered my 11 year olds drink order) with a much better experience we chalked the first night up to being understaffed at the previous restaurant. Each interaction we had from room service to the photographer who took family pictures for us was very good to excellent. The sales staff were another story - pushy and over the top about upgrading your stay and their Royal Elite Club (timeshare) access. We chose not to take their ”tour” and our room was called each day around 8am trying to book what they called a ”mandatory tour” - it was invasive. In addition, we had messages left on our door and sales staff show up to our room wanting to get our tour booked. This alone is enough to make me not want to return - it was a very dissapointing portion of our experience. They started mining us for information while checking in. I don't mean after we were checked in, while we were checking in. I was tying to answer questions from the front desk and pay resort fees while a sales member was also peppering us with questions. We had been traveling for 10 hours at this point and hadn't had a meal - they didn't care about what we wanted to do with our time, only tried to book tours to pitch upgrades and offer ”free gifts”. If you go, be prepared for it - it's a large point of focus for them. Also be aware that without upgrading, you will be blocked from accessing about 1/3 of the resort bars, pools and other amenties. Food: The food was a disappointment. We frequented the main buffet because it was the most flexible for timing. Although there were several options, we found many dishes to be overcooked, bland or simply unpalatable. The Snack Bar/Pool Side buffet was decent, more restricted options but the quality of the food was better. The themed restaurants were marginally better that the buffets: French restaurant 3/5, Burrito/Tacos 2/5 (ordered a salad, came with no greens), Fogo de Janeiro 5/5, Asiana 2/5, Gourmex 2/5 and Italian 4/5. Our kids enjoyed the Cupcake Shop and the buffet ice cream but also left many items uneaten. Beach: Amazing. Best part of the whole place. Clean, beautiful sand and crystal clear water. We spent time there 4 out of 6 days. Lots of vendors walking around soliciting everything from bracelets to scuba diving trips or spa sessions (this was common around the pools as well). They were all very polite and none were pushy. A polite ”no, thank you” and they moved on. There were servers on the beach as well for drinks, which was nice because we didn't upgrade our experience so about 1/3 of the resort wasn't open to us. There is no need for golf. You can stay in other good hotels at this price. The restaurant is delicious, but all-inclusive is not recommended. The price is not as good as a la carte.

I’m not sure why the low review on this hotel. I actually slept better here as compared to the resort I’m at Grand Riviera Princess. I took my parents here for a night to shop at their popular 5th St (which is so freaking expensive- more expensive than the resort merchandise). I booked online and the system suggested the Master Suite since there’s 3 of us. To my surprise…. MASTER SUITE is literally 3 rooms!!!! I actually went downstairs to ask if they made a mistake. I only paid a total of $103!!!!! They gave us Room 210 - which includes 211 and 212!!!!? 210- 2 queen beds 211 - sofa bed with dining table (think of it like a living room) 212- 2 queen beds It was so clean and the bed sheets, pillows and blankets are all oh so comfortable. Since we only stayed for a night- I couldn’t comment on other amenities except it’s the best sleep I’ve ever had since landing in Mexico.

We are a well travelled couple who are generally easy going and not hugely demanding. Positives: - The hotel is centrally located. - The hotel is quirky and a little quaint (personal opinion). - The hotel is fairly cheap. - Cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful. - Our room was huge. OK's: - Reception staff friendly-ish (some more than others). - Cute little pool but way too much chlorine. Negatives: - The reception staff can barely communicate in English and made no effort to get hold of someone who did. - We booked a room with two beds. The one bed was very firm and the second not useable (it was too unstable to sit on let alone sleep on. - The pillows were made from memory foam and accordingly very hard. Woke up most mornings with back and neck ache. - Air-conditioner leaked non-stop. We had to use both trash cans in the room to collect the water and they needed regular emptying. Reported this to reception on 4 occasions without remedy. - Lack of furniture in the room. The room is listed to cater for 4 guests however there was only 1 dinning chair in the room for use at the little table. - The balcony is a good size but no chairs, however there was a table. Also the railing around the balcony was very wobbly and badly rusted (certainly wouldn't let children play on that balcony. - The shower-head was very old and blocked which resulted in the bathroom getting flooded and a rather unpleasant shower experience. - General maintenance of the room was terrible. Windows and balcony door opened and closed with difficulty. Front door was felt very insecure and the internal locks (chain lock) was barely attached to the door. (granted I never felt unsafe). Holes in the walls that have never been filled or repaired. - One day we noticed what appeared to be bloody foot steps in the pool area. It unfortunately took the staff two days to clean these footprints. Unfortunately, I would never stay at this hotel again. I would also not recommend this hotel to anybody else.

The hotel is very clean and in a convenient location. A shopping mall on the pedestrian street is just next to the hotel. I took an ADO bus to the Carmen Seaside from the Cancun Airport and walked to the hotel in about 10 minutes. It's 10 minutes' walk from the Walmart Supermarket.

A woman travels alone and finds a good location and finds it !!! The room was white and clean and tidy. It was better to have a slide door between the living room and the bed room and between the bed and the closet. There was a separate guest toilet so that couples and two friends could travel comfortably when sharing a room. Even the shampoo and body wash scents were luxurious herbs. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooking utensils, washing machine, dryer and dishwasher. I just need to buy all the detergents !!! The jacuzzi was even better in the open air and I was very reluctant to go to the beach because I was traveling alone. Breakfast was eaten at the cafe in the building, but the amount was small but the service was clean and the working people were good. It was uncomfortable that there was no iron board !!! I booked one day first and liked it and extended it one more day. It was a little expensive compared to other places, but I want to use it again!

Hotel is in prime and walkable distance to Cozumel ferry. Room walls are very thin that you can hear someone walking outside other than that it’s good experience. Breakfast is tied up with hotel next door. It’s limited menu not buffet. They’ll prepare your food “only” when you’re there if you’re in rush plan accordingly.
