GGuest UserWe stayed here for business due to the proximity to our office. The hotel targets football fans with trophies on display and a direct access to stadium tours, floors are named after football players/leagues as well as rooms. My room looked exactly like a football changing room with pictures of Borussia players, it was nice and clean and the view over the stadium was lovely. I didn't like the fact that the bed wasn't made, I had a double bed with 2 single duvets that were left on the side, the shower drainage seemed to be clogged and kept flooding so the water almost reached the interconnecting door, the blinds are not user friendly at all and I had to call down to reception several times (same for my colleagues). Lastly, the TV is placed on the side of the bed making it impossible to watch it whilst in bed. We used their restaurant several times and the service was extremely slow. On the first day it took 40 minutes for a salad and a coca cola whilst the night after we had to wait over 1h for our meals (4 people). We asked if we could watch the Champions League quarters of final match, we were told that this wasn't possible as the match was broadcasted by DAZN and the bar only had a SKY license. This was extremely weird considering that we were in a sport bar inside of a ”sport hotel” surrounded by football screens 24/7. Reception staff was nice and polite.
Check-in was not pleasant. It was clear that the receptionist would rather be elsewhere when checking in the gentleman before me and then myself. This young lady did not appreciate queries about local restaurants either. I returned to reception to check on parking and the same lady rolled her eyes. Very rude and no idea about customer service. Ordered a beer in the bar but it was slow coming. The barman was more interested in laughing with and serving the gang of Italians (Fellow countrymen) than anyone else in the bar. Room was average with strange floopy pillows. Could not get free wifi to work properly. Meal in restaurant quite average. Lifts were slow and full of staff moving bedding up and down floors. Not a good hotel at all. I would steer clear next time I am in town.
GGuest UserWe wanted to find a cheap stay at a hotel in Mönchengladbach. Normally mcdreams is the choice…sub 50€ with free parking. This is quite basic and no frills 3 star accommodation. But in Germany 3 stars means a lot…even when basic. It’s clean, great beds, bathroom … great price quality. While looking I got a special offer for this hotel on hotels.com. 50€ per room per night. This hotel has what I call the trifecta. Great price, free parking and free breakfast. But it was so so much better thans expected. To be honest the pictures on the website didn’t do this hotel any justice at all. We almost cancelled because it looks dated and with shabby bathroom. Let’s do the bad first. The floor in the room…looks very shiny, plasticky. But it was meticulously clean and walking on it is beer than on the carpets that just doesn’t feel clean enough in older hotels. The bathroom I must say feel and looks old. That’s due to the white tiles and bathtub I guess. But bathroom was meticulously clean and all in working order. The bath is really not so functional, quite high. So elderly or less flexible persons must be careful when getting in or out from bath. But great if you have a baby or kids I guess. In our room the shower didn’t have a thermostat and the water temperature moved around a bit…from coldish to too hot…and everything in between. That’s a negative, but water pressure was good. But the rest was much much better then expected. First of all free parking underneath the hotel. But I think the street is free parking too. Location is in upper residential area so feels really safe in the street. Weirdly you can enter the hotel via the garage…but the door doesn’t open from the outside. Also no chance to call reception topen it. This means when you arrive you need to walk outside on quite a steep climb to enter hotel at reception. The rooms as I mentioned was very clean and quite spacious. There is a good working TV. Beds are great. Sadly two singles, but at 90cm that’s a good width. You get two pillows and there is plenty of plugs to use. For the summer..unfortunately no AC. What really sets this place apart is the amenities provided. It shames 4/5 star hotels. From toothbrushes, shaving kit, toilet wet wipes, to sewing and even a shoeshine kit.wow. The best I saved the best for last. The free breakfast. We got a full German breakfast. The downside it was at the nearby elisenhof hotel. The good thing….It was top quality breakfast. In 5 star hotels I have had breakfast with more choice, but it was not so tasty or of such quality. Don’t get me wrong. It had everything.bacon. Sausage, 2 types scrambled egg, salmon, and the usual continental spread. The breads was great and cold cuts with local specialty always good. The juice bar was tops with fresh squeezed OJ machine. A very satisfying start of the day. I cant recommend this place enough. The price quality king..even if without the extra discount.
Very friendly and professional staff. The entire hotel and rooms are kept very clean and tidy. The location is really convenient, with easy walking distance to town center, bus and train stations. There is a great cafe with very friendly staff around the corner in the same structure, as well as a small grocery store and gas station/convenience store in the same lot. My only complaint, as with most hotels I've used recently is the beds are much too soft these days, like an overstuffed giant pillow. Not comfortable and bad for my back. This seems to be an annoying trend and not specific to McDreams, so despite this one issue I would absolutely use McDreams hotel again if I revisit the city.
Excellent staff and first class facilities. Great food and comfortable rooms. Reception team were very helpful when our car broke and helped us with great support. Thank you to the entire team at the hotel.
