This is me second time here, one of the best onsen hotel in my mind. Staff was nice food was great.
Only small improvements will make it 10 stars, quickness of service in dinner restaurant (may be lack of staff), second cleanliness of the onsen tub in the room.

The hotel offers a variety of onsen experiences, including a rooftop open-air bath, which was a highlight of our stay. The small indoor water park was enjoyable, though access to the slides required renting additional equipment, which felt unexpected given the room rate. The Western-style room, while functional, appeared dated, particularly the furnishings, and the pillows lacked adequate support. During our two-night stay, the breakfast and dinner buffet menus remained the same each day, which limited variety.
I stayed for several nights with breakfast included. There was a large public bath and a variety of baths. It was a bit disappointing that it wasn't a hot spring. If it had at least had hot spring water, it would have been 5 stars... There was also a sauna!
There was a wide variety of food in the morning, and you could taste the local specialties at the hotel.
The minimum amenities were provided, but I wish the large public bath had used better shampoo and conditioner, as my hair became rough...
Stayed in room 201, the snow view from the panoramic floor-to-ceiling window is really beautiful! There is a private hot spring in the room, and you can also go to other hot spring hotels under the same group to soak in public hot springs. One night and two meals, dinner is shabu-shabu, the quality of the meat is very good! The breakfast is Western style, a bit bland, if it is Japanese style, it would be more pleasant. Even if you don't make an appointment for the shuttle bus, it is very convenient to take the bus, but you have to check the train time in advance. Overall, it is very good~
The location is very good, you can walk to nearby attractions and the station is nearby. The room is clean and sanitary, the view outside the window is beautiful, it is built along the stream, and the open-air hot spring view is even more beautiful. The Japanese breakfast is rich and delicious. A hotel worth recommending.
Love it so much!!! Very big and complete place to stay for relaxation on your holidays. Good views and comfortable rooms.
A lot of Spaces to relax.
Unluckily that my health is not suitable for onsen so I missed opportunity to use them.
Pingpong room is interesting, I want to play if I wasn’t there alone.
Good dinner and buffet breakfast, but would be much better if I can change beef to pork or other meats.
Surprisingly, this hotel connects to Shika no Yu. Some facilities can be used together, so I roamed around and enjoyed a lot.
An evening lounge to enjoy music and snacks was so good. I really wish to stay here again!
Oh, one more thing, I had a nice pic from window to show you first snow of 2024!!
We only had 1 night to stay in this beautiful paradise 🥲🤍
It was the best stay of our 10 day trip in Japan and we would definitely be back to stay here again 🤍
Location: in the Jozankei Onsen town that’s about an hour + out of Sapporo. Honestly if you’re in a group, just book a cab out, it was about $80++ for 3 of us! Otherwise remember to book the Onsen bus shuttle early in advance 🥹
Area around Onsen is nothing much besides other Onsen houses, a small cafe and other smol tourist picture spots.
Back to the Ryokan: this was my first experience being in one and I’m so glad I chose this place! Mum and sister throughly enjoyed it as well, using our in room Onsen ( there’s 2!) and also the shared common Onsen with an outdoor facing the snow too ❄️☃️♨️
Service:The staff was extremely polite and efficient, seeing the reviews of them being rude was kinda uncalled for. They were nothing but kind and attentive. It is a very quiet and peaceful place , I understand the need for all guests to be maintain the atmosphere too.
Food: amazing, one of the best meals I’ve had in Japan so far ♥️ the pictures below speaks for itself 🥹 private dining room to enjoy the view too🏔️
Loved small touches too like the mikimoto soaps , Dyson hair dryers ( in the public Onsen) And the chopstick souvenirs 🥹
I can’t wait to come back here again with my partner 🤍

Outstanding
GGuest UserGreat Japanese-style hotel, the service is very considerate, and the catering is one of the best in professionalism and deliciousness
GGuest UserOkujozankei Onsen Kasho Gyoen is a haven of winter enchantment. The private onsen in our room unveiled a mesmerizing snowscape, creating a serene retreat. Dining was a culinary journey in a private room, with each dish a masterpiece. The attentive staff elevated our experience, their warm attitude leaving an indelible mark. A special flower arrangement for my proposal added a touch of magic. The breathtaking views of the lake and snow-laden trees completed the idyllic setting. Okujozankei Onsen Kasho Gyoen is a gem where luxury meets nature, crafting an unforgettable escape. We eagerly anticipate our return to this winter wonderland.
NNanxinghuayoulunThe most special thing about this Hokkaido hotel is the warm accommodation in Jozankei
Dinner is kaiseki cuisine, the hot spring ♨️ has a design night vision guide, a large bath rest area, and piano and flute performances. In the evening, you can use the next door Kokoro no Sato Jozankei, a very special place for meditation, with a terrace foot bath + art gallery + library + evening tea
After soaking in the evening ♨️ walk through the corridor of the snowy house, come to Kokoro no Sato Jozankei, and taste some fragrant and glutinous roasted sweet potatoes
Original baked apples, flipping through the photography album of cute animals in Eastern Hokkaido, in the atmosphere of white noise background music, the heart unknowingly calmed down
There are very few Chinese messages in the tourist record, basically all in Korean and Japanese. Occasionally, you can feel the happiness transmitted through the text when you turn to one!
By accident, the bus stop back to Sapporo is right in front of his house, and the scheduled rafting gathering place is next door. It's so convenient!
HHuacaomeiJozankei is not far from Sapporo, a wonderfully relaxing town, and a convenience store is just a short walk from the hotel. Stepping outside, the scenery is absolutely stunning. As a southerner, it was my first time seeing such deep snow, and surprisingly, it wasn't cold at all! I imagine it would be just as beautiful in spring and autumn. The hotel staff were incredibly attentive and thoughtful; many of them were older gentlemen and ladies, and I'm truly grateful for their service! The buffet was also delicious. I hope to have the chance to visit again!
FfrimatNice and clean hotel, welcoming staff. Nice dinner but I just felt a little bit rushed, it was a few courses and they brought everything at once, the beef and the sashimi were amazing. The room with a private onsen is perfect for couples.
GGuest UserI chose this hotel specifically for its private bath, only to discover that reservations must be made 2-3 months in advance via email/phone call. The hotel does provide a shuttle bus from Sapporo city, which typically takes about an hour, but you also need to book that at least a month in advance, according to various bloggers. It was quite disappointing not to enjoy the private bath experience and to have to arrange our own transportation from/back to the city. The frustrating part is that you wouldn’t know the advance booking requirement when you make a reservation through Trip.com or similar platforms. Here’s a rephrased version of your statement:
I honestly find this quite unfair.
SSlim88Middle of no where. Luckily I have booked dinner and breakfast otherwise have to find food from convenient stores. Great Onsen and nice tatami. Friendly service. Good breakfast and dinner
KKuailedexiaohuozhiThe buffet was decent, but the facilities are very dated. The 'hot spring' felt more like a public bath. For the price, it was acceptable, with the buffet being the only real highlight. The nearby park is nice for a stroll.
GGuest UserThe room was nice, spacious, and clean. The bathroom was also quite big. However, the room was inconvenient because you have to climb stairs. Free parking is available. The location is a bit far from the city center, but overall, I really liked the room.
