The hotel itself is nice. Inviting lobby. Isaac and Cesar at the front desk were great. Really, all of the staff I interacted with were really nice. Complimentary champagne in the lobby. Complimentary coffee station in the lobby, but no machine in the room, which is a stinker. Sometimes you just want coffee before stepping out of the room. The hotel is in what they call the Tendernob- a transitional area between Nob Hill and the Tenderloin. Things get weird quickly if you walk one block the wrong way (but walking the right way, you get to Union Square in a few minutes). I live in a city and have a high tolerance for that stuff, but someone from a more serene hometown may find it pretty jarring. Also, despite being a city dweller, I should say that I would not stay here with my family, but found it just fine for solo man travel. The Palace Hotel, another Bonvoy property, is where I stay when I visit with my family. The Adagio is cheaper, but not THAT much cheaper. All in all, this hotel is doing its absolute best with what it is in control of. Rooms are well sized and comfortable, the gym is good enough, the lobby has everything you'd want in a stylish package.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel from February 8 to 12, 24, and returned after traveling to Los Angeles. The second time we stayed was from February 16 to 19, 24. Encountered the same problem. Even though we prepaid the room fee, we were still charged a deposit of 199 US dollars when we checked in. After receiving the credit card reminder SMS, we asked the hotel, and the reply was that the system made a mistake and it should be charged 100. The second check-in still required a destination fee of 30 US dollars per night, which was waived after another negotiation. Because of the wrong deposit collection during the two check-ins, we found the front desk manager to report the situation. The front desk manager gave a bonus compensation of 59 US dollars, but it has been a month since I returned to Shanghai, and I have not received it. After negotiation, Ctrip said that the reward would be given only after the next check-in. After returning to China, I received a notice from my credit card that my credit card transaction was abnormal, so I immediately stopped using it and exchanged it for a new card. Two experiences, many bad experiences, I advise everyone to be careful when swiping the card when staying in this hotel. In addition, the destination fee of 30 US dollars per night is a big mistake, and it was slashed by foreigners.
