Blue Lake Top 10 Holiday Park
4.3/551 Reviews
Many people come to the Blue Lake in RVs and yachts. Needless to say, the scenery of the Blue Lake is so beautiful. Sitting by the lake relaxes your teeth and scalp. The resort has separate toilets and shared toilets/bathrooms. Mostly locals come for water sports and swimming/camping, very few Chinese tourists. It is recommended to bring a swimming ring or surfboard from January to March. There are no restaurants around, so we brought instant noodles and tomatoes on our backs. After eating a few days later, we took a 10-minute taxi to the Landing Cafe next to Terawera Lake to eat. The beach was very lively on a sunny day, filled with children and adults with dogs🐶 Come and play in the water. The lake is crystal clear and opposite is a volcano. You can talk to local people with yachts and let them drive to the hot water beach at the foot of the volcano for a hot spring♨️.
Rotorua Thermal Holiday Park

For the price, this holiday park was fine. Know what to expect—we had only a cabin with two beds, a table and two chairs, and a space heater. The bathroom with toilet, sink, and shower was in a separate building. If you are used to camping, this is a step up. If not, this may be rough for you. Management should consider adding heaters to shared spaces, like the toilets, kitchen, and laundry. We traveled in winter and it was cold!
Aura Accommodation

The hotel is very nice and I want to come to the second time. Location is close to the lake, downtown, shopping malls are very convenient to eat. The hotel is motel style and the car is conveniently located at the door. The facilities in the room are complete, the tableware is complete, and the stove is full of fire to make Chinese food. The bed is comfortable to sleep, moderately soft and hard. There is a heated swimming pool, and the water temperature is roughly 32 degrees in the summer at 28 degrees. The hot spring pool has a strong smell of sulfur, which is much more authentic than the hot springs in the country. It is just a simple environment, one pool and one room, two in total. The hotel rents bicycles for free and is also very good value. New Zealand bicycles are planned to have a dedicated road, which is another way to visit in addition to hiking. The hotel staff is very nice and welcoming. There are also some shortcomings. Because of the hot springs, the air has a sulphur smell. But it didn't take long to stay, but it was very comfortable to ask, which was good for rhinitis and pharyngitis. The room is a little smaller. There is only one window on the ground floor where we live. The ventilation is slightly worse. The actual stay for three days is not serious. It is still under the premise of cooking in the room. In short, the hotel feels the owner's intentions and intimacy everywhere, even if it is in the hotel, it will not be boring. I also forgot that one important thing is that TV provides Netfix, and foreign hotels that have lived in the past few years have not provided it for free. More than 700 prices are very good value.

Wylie Court Motor Lodge
4.2/597 Reviews
Would give 0 star if option's given, NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY, DO NOT book with them if you are travelling with young children and don't want uncertainties. PLEASE READ OUR EXPERIENCE BELOW PATIENTLY. We book a one night accommodation at Wylie Court Motor Lodge in Rotorua for 21/10/2023. 7pm tonight (one night before check in) , we received a phone call from the motel advising we were supposed to check in on he 20th. I checked my booking confirmation, it clearly said check in was on 21/10/2023. I called the motel back, the motel staff said they didn't know what happened, they said the information bookings.com dropped off for them was on the 20th, anyway there was no room available on the 21st. The staff offered alternative accommodation but not providing any details (eg. Location, size of the room, cleaness, facility etc) on the alternative accomodation. When we said we didn't want alternative accommodation as we were travelling with a minor (4 year old) and wouldn't consider anything we were not sure of, the staff became verbally rude/abusive and hung up. Considering our trip was due the next day, I called back, and she kept repeating ”now I'm going to talk and you listen!” said ”even if you show up tomorrow with your four year old, you won't be provided a place to stay”. She hung up to me again, the following times that I called back, the calls just went straight into voice mails. It's very clear that Wylie Court intended to dishoner its booking and force customer to accept alternative accommodation in threat of no other accommodation in the surrounding region would be available for the night appointed, under the awareness that we would be travelling with a minor and would not have any options. As a result, we cancelled our Rotorua trip, all prepaid tours were forfeited and we are in the process of negotiating with Wylie Court in travel loss compensation. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE travelling to Rotorua Rigion, the standard of customer service was below unacceptable.
Sudima Hotel Lake Rotorua
4.2/5104 Reviews
I stayed in the Sudima Lake Rotorua Hotel for three nights while attending a conference. The Sudima was selected as it was the cheapest of the four listed by the conference organisers. The accommodation and buffet breakfasts were standard and wouldn’t in themselves warrant a review, either positive or negative. What did warrant a review, however, was the check-in experience. This is the reason for the level-two rating. Having stayed at a range of accommodation – from higher end to backpacker - I cannot recall anything like it, either here in New Zealand or overseas. There was one person at the reception desk and only one other guest checking-in before me. That check-in took a seemingly interminable time, but that can happen for whatever reason. My check-in appeared normal, but thereafter the experience ‘went to custard’. Assigned a room on the third floor I duly went with my bag to the room. Arriving there the magnetic door card wouldn’t open the door. I then returned to the reception desk, explained the situation and was provided with a new set of door cards. I then proceeded back to the third floor and, yes, the door cards this time successfully opened the door. However, upon entering the room I was surprised to find evidence that someone else was using the room. Material around the room showed that this person was also a conference attendee. (Interestingly there was a half drunk bottle of whisky on a table, but alas it was a blend and not a single malt so there was no temptation to take a few swigs.) Using the room’s telephone, I called the reception number but there was no response. Anxious that the room’s inhabitant may return I returned once more to the reception desk to be provided with a new room and corresponding door cards. Another ascent to the third floor finally eventuated with valid room occupancy at the Sudima Lake Rotorua Hotel. The time lapse since first entering the hotel stretched to about 40 minutes.
