Clarion Paris CDG Airport

A brief 3-night stay at this hotel was required as part of a regular six-monthly aircraft simulator training requirement; it was my first time at this particular hotel, but I have stayed at other Crowne Plaza hotels before, so I had a reasonable idea of what to expect. After a very prompt collection from the TGV station at Paris-CDG airport (only 5mins or so after telephoning the hotel reception desk), we all arrived at the hotel a few minutes later (even though the bus was approx three-quarters full, everyone was wearing a face mask and was considerate in spacing themselves out as far as practicable); the welcoming reception staff checked me in very quickly, also informing me that my IHG Rewards Club Card was registered on their system already - very clever !!! The whole of the ground floor was designated as an area in which face masks were to be worn, and all guests complied with the requirement. I was allocated a very spacious room on the third floor; despite the room having a balcony facing the main road, there was very little road noise so I was able to get a decent night's sleep each night, helped by a very comfortable bed with choice of pillows, plus an efficient air conditioning system to keep the temperature down and the airflow constantly circulating. The group with whom I was travelling ate in the hotel restaurant on the first night - despite the current pandemic, there was still a very reasonable selection of meals available to choose from, and the restaurant was approximately half full with socially-distanced guests; the food arrived promptly and was absolutely delicious - I have never had a bad meal yet in any IHG hotel.... On subsequent evenings, we chose to eat in the Roissy-en-France village - turn left out of the hotel main entrance and left again through a park and there is a varied selection of bistros, pizzerias, etc. after a 5-10min walk. The breakfast selection in the mornings was again reasonable, considering the pandemic - cereals, tea/coffee and bottled fruit juices were all self-service, any other food items were served by a member of staff to prevent over-handling by guests - all understandable and went a long way towards reassuring us that the pandemic was being treated as seriously as it should; on two occasions (including our return journey to the airport) we were too early to attend breakfast but the staff kindly made up ”Breakfast Boxes” with a selection of yoghurt, juice, cereal, cakes, etc. Very tasty and much appreciated !!! We booked the hotel shuttle bus on two consecutive days for transportation to the simulator complex approx 10mins away - on both occasions the shuttle left promptly and arrived for our return journey exactly when requested. I did not use the Health Suite this time, but certainly hope to do so the next time I stay here. All-in-all, I would not hesitate to stay here for either leisure or for future business trips.
