The location is great, however you should be aware that the you pay so much for the location and that's it. Standard double room is not spacious, with very small window. The hotel itself is far-far away from luxury, for Europe it looks like 2-3 stars, definitely not 4. The main advantage is rooftop, where you can see beautiful Copacabana beach from 14th floor. This terrace is open for every guest of hotel, even on New Year's eve for free. The service is poor: gentlemen on reception talked indifferently, barely understanding english. They even gave us misleading information: for example, one of them told I need to get up at 7:30 sharp to give belongings for laundry (and no chance to do it in advance or later), the second was sure that we needed to pay for New Year's dinner to have access to rooftop (he didn't know the word "terrace", by the way). Both were wrong. The breakfast was mediocre, with Fanta pretending to be orange juice and no vegetables at all, but with fair good cheeses and deserts though. The service in the bar is very-very slow.

The hotel has a nice location on the beach, but the property could do with some updates. The first room I went into had a funny smell, so I reported it to reception. The male receptionist looked at me, and as if he doubted my word After I insisted, he assigned me a new room, but it was left to me to move my luggage. . No support was offered and I couldn’t be bothered to ask. I did ask if there would be any complimentary water put in the room. He said he would get housekeeping to put some water, but I’m still waiting two days later.  Power outlets in the room are limited and not designed for modern travel. No USB points. The TV is old and not smart or Internet connected. There are no cable channels so nearly all of the channels are local language apart from one CNN news channel in English.. The hotel is quite noisy and dogs. The walls are thin and guests scrape furniture across the marble floors. This is relatively easy to remedy if the hotel cared. The rooftop pool was disappointing as it’s quite small and normally full of kids. The restaurant is closed after breakfast. There is a bar, but it’s never open.. The biggest problem I had was the Internet. It did not work properly in my room and kept cutting out every few minutes. I had to stand in the corridor or come down to the lobby in order to get any decent coverage. I complained to the staff, but they did nothing and just told me it works.. This was extremely frustrating and I certainly wouldn’t come back to this hotel again.

The room I'd booked wasn't available when I checked in, so I was given a different room type. I was able to change rooms the next day, so it was fine. Great views from the rooftop terrace. The WiFi is awful. It's 2024; there's no excuse for hotels to have crappy WiFi.

This is the 4th time in a row that we have stayed at the Astoria, but we checked in at night and, to our dismay, they threw us on the 1st floor, which was a room for a disabled person, I believe… we requested something better, but it was only for the next day. In this same room, the view was not even there, whereas I had booked it with a view of the city, the breakfast was pleasant, the cleanliness was also excellent, the service from PEDRO, in particular, was top-notch… the night attendant barely responded to us.

The air conditioning filter was extremely dirty. The curtains were dirty, and there was a terrible noise in the room due to a possible water pump. I complained but it was no use. The breakfast was good; The staff were friendly.

The hotel is located in front of Copacabana beach. It has a fairly small pool on its incredible terrace. Good breakfast

The hotel facilities are old and the rooms are small, but the location is good, next to the beach.

We had the opportunity to visit 3 types of rooms. A triple, on the 10th floor, with a view of the city: comfortable, with everything you need, and the view is towards Christ the Redeemer. A luxury double, with sea views, on the 2nd floor: even more comfortable, with a hydromassage and better amenities. A double, standard, with sea view, on the 9th floor: comfortable, although the bathroom in this one is without natural ventilation. The TVs in the common ones were smaller and did not allow screen sharing (since none of them had Netflix to use, for example). The Internet on the upper floors is cut off. Everything was excellent. The location is unique. Have towels and lounge chairs on the beach too. The umbrella is paid (R$10). Breakfast is great!
