The hotel room is quite old. Light switches do not function well. Wifi is weak. The phone in the room doesn't work. The refrigerator does not work. The air conditioner works well. Breakfast is good. Receptionists are nice and helpful.

Very good location in the ancient city. The structure of the hotel is very nice too.

It was such an unique experience to stay in a hotel inside the ancient city wall, it felt like travelled back to China in the olden days. As it was off-peak season when we visited 山海关，we were upgraded to a family room, which mean there is a separate bedroom with a single bed, on top of a master room with a double bed. As it was rather cold and we were tired from all the walking, we decided to make life easy by eating at the restaurant within the hotel. We didn't expect much though. But..., we were much much more than surprise the dishes were Ace standard, be it in presentation or taste! A big big thumb up! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. All in all, we really enjoyed the service extended to us! It is no doubt hotel staff in China places their guests at top priority, making them feel at home at all times. P.S the teapot was not filled with tea but a yummilicious 松茸汤。

Upsides: charming low-rise hotel; convenient location in the old town, friendly and helpful staff (though limited English), generous buffet breakfast Downsides: a raucous and chain-smoking (but amicable) group of other guests. A leaking washbasin (fixed promptly). No bar. Would stay happily again.

Excellent location near the west gate of the walled town . Walking distance to all corners of the old town. The hotel is built in ancient Chinese style and is a popular photo spot for tourists. The room is not well soundproofed but, fortunate for us, noises were minimal during sleep hours. Shower and air-conditioning (heating) could be improved.

This is a very well-appointed and comfortable hotel located within the old town walls of Shanhaiguan, 50 yards or so from the east gate. It is built and decorated in the traditional style of the area. Large, comfortable beds, the a/c unit warms the room. A filling and varied breakfast is delivered to the room in the morning. The staff are cheerful and pleasant. The hotel boasts a restaurant in a separate building which serves a wide selection of delicious food. Private dining rooms are available. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would be very happy to return.

I had a very good stay. The first room they gave me, there was mold in the bathroom. It was quickly resolved as they upgraded my room. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Location is amazing, right in the centre of the old town. Will definitely be returning!

good environment

It was my first time to visit the beautiful ancient city of Shanhaiguan. The hotel environment was very quiet. The room facilities were a bit old, but very clean. The waiters were warm and attentive. It only took 6 minutes to walk to the No. 1 Pass in the World. There was not much traffic in the ancient city this season. I guess this hotel will be full in the summer.

The hotel is not far from the West City Gate, and it is easy to find with its imposing facade. The hotel is large, well-equipped, and has its own parking lot. The staff is well-trained and will take the initiative to greet guests and take them to their rooms. The breakfast variety is not large but clean and hygienic, and it can be heated and kept warm in time, which is very important in the cold winter. The room is not big but very warm, and the waiter will take the initiative to bring the radiator to the room and send snacks. The only drawback is that the bathroom does not have a dry and wet separation, and the bath water will flow everywhere. Overall, it is still highly recommended.

Ancient style, there is a special atmosphere in the scenic area, but I didn't have enough time, so I didn't have dinner, which was a pity. Many reviews said that the dinner was delicious, and I felt even more regretful after having breakfast. The breakfast was delicious! The service attitude was very good, and they took the initiative to contact me to express the things I left behind I will come again next time

I was driving back to my hometown and passed by Shanhaiguan. I decided to stay in Shanhaiguan. I looked at many hotels online and finally chose Shanhai Holiday Hotel, which is 800 meters away from the No. 1 Pass in the world in the ancient city. It happened to be the time when the annual expo was quite lively. It also happened to be snowing heavily. The ancient city in the snow has a different scenery. It is so beautiful. The front desk staff was very good during the check-in process. They also took the initiative to bring two bottles of hot water. I ate Shanhaiguan special meat pot in the hotel. Eating meat pot on a snowy day gives people warmth from the inside out

The Chinese-style hotel is very distinctive. As soon as you enter the courtyard, you feel like you are traveling through time. The parking lot is large and there are charging stations. When you check in, the front desk manager upgraded the room. He was very friendly and gave us warm mineral water. The room is quite comfortable. Although it has been open for a long time, it is ok overall.
