Hotels in Inside Pingyao Ancient City, Pingyao County

Extremely satisfied with my stay! The B&B is right near the county government office, and the architecture is wonderfully ancient and charming. As someone from the south, it was my first time experiencing a 'kang' (heated bed), and it was quite good. The owner was very hospitable and even gave us some vinegar when we left.

The hotel: Really enjoyed the experience of staying at a hotel in the ancient city. Also great service and being picked up and dropped off to the train station was a great added touch. Breakfast option too and its nice. The area: The area could do with a nice speakeasy bar, with tapas style dishes (4 dumplings per plate, small soba noodle dishes, chicken skewers etc). The area has a few rock bars but its so loud and ruins the ancient vibe.

My experience staying at this hotel as below. 1. They provide pickup and drop off from the train station. The day before the Inn contacted me to make arrangement for the pickup. Then they arranged to drive me back to station on the day I leave. Service was efficient and prompt. Much appreciated. 2. I was able to use the washing machine to wash come clothes which was much needed. Comb and toiletries were provided. So grateful for these little necessities as I left mine at the previous hotel. 3. The boss upgraded me to a bigger and better room because it was the low season. The kang bed was so comfortable and firm. I had the best sleep so far at this Inn. I'm so happy. 4. The Inn is inside the old city and practically next to one of the city gates. Very convenient for sightseeing old Pingyao city. 5. Everyone very friendly and helpful. Boss also gave me a bottle of vinegar. Wish I could take it back to UK with me. 6. The price of this Inn is also very reasonable and affordable. 7. Pingyao is a beautiful, ancient old city. Worth coming. I highly recommend staying here. This is a historic building, and the two-story room is quite spacious. It's well-equipped with amenities like a hairdryer and an electric kettle. It also has air conditioning and floor heating. The owner is very kind; they picked us up from the high-speed rail station, and the service was excellent, including a generous breakfast. Location: It's very close to the main street, within a 10-minute walk to the county government office.

The host was incredibly enthusiastic and explained every ancient city detail meticulously. It was especially thoughtful that they pre-cooled the millet porridge for breakfast, which was not only ample but also nutritious. The hotel is very close to the bustling South Street, making it super convenient for aurora viewing. For every aspect, this is the top choice. Highly recommended!

Let me elaborate. **Courtyard Design:** Very beautiful, many scenic spots within the ancient city are decorated in a similar style. **Room Amenities:** Given the prime location, the room isn't large, perhaps around 15 square meters. It has all the essentials and is very clean. The mattress was comfortable. Of course, it can't compare to high-end or luxury hotels. Its main advantage is its excellent location; it's very convenient for exploring, and you can easily pop back for a rest when you get tired. **Service:** The staff were very service-oriented. When we arrived, there weren't many guests, and the service was very attentive. **Breakfast:** It's not a buffet; it's a fixed-menu breakfast, like a 'nine-grid' style. It looks very appealing, and the taste is decent enough to fill you up. Overall, it's a good stay. Naturally, for this price point within the ancient city, you shouldn't compare it to hotels of the same price outside. It's incomparable, primarily due to its superb geographical advantage.

It's a short walk to the Ming and Qing old street and the City Tower, making it super convenient for exploring the ancient city. The hotel is a traditional courtyard house with red lanterns throughout, creating a strong, picturesque atmosphere – great for photos! They even have 'kang' (heated bed) rooms for a unique Jinnese residential experience. 2. **Thoughtful Service for Drivers:** Since motor vehicles aren't allowed in the ancient city, guests park in the public lot outside the North Gate. Staff come to pick you up and help with luggage, which is a huge plus for those traveling with seniors or a lot of bags. 3. **Comprehensive Amenities:** Breakfast is provided, and there's a small noodle shop within the courtyard. Some rooms on the second floor offer night views of the ancient city's rooftops. They can also connect you with traditional style photography services at a discount. 24-hour hot water and air conditioning are standard. 4. **Good Service Reputation:** The housekeeper offers travel advice, luggage storage is available, and guests receive a small souvenir upon departure. It's a popular choice for families and those traveling with children.

Staying at this hotel allowed me to immerse myself in history, experiencing both the weight of time and the beauty of modern nature. This stay was absolutely perfect, deserving full marks! From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I could feel the hotel's professionalism and dedication. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming, making check-in efficient and smooth, and they even proactively introduced the surrounding scenery and transportation, making me feel incredibly welcome. The room was spacious and bright, with a simple yet stylish design. The bedding was soft and comfortable against the skin, ensuring a good night's sleep. Hygiene was impeccable, with a separate shower and toilet, fresh-smelling toiletries, and even the corners were spotless. The soundproofing was excellent, completely undisturbed by outside noise. The Chinese style was perfect, showcasing meticulous attention to detail. The hotel's facilities were also comprehensive, with a rich and fresh breakfast selection. The location, right within the ancient city of Pingyao, was a major plus. What impressed me most was the hotel's hospitality; I truly felt at home, with a genuine concern for the guests' well-being. In short, this is a hotel I would definitely stay at again without hesitation, highly recommended for both business trips and family vacations!

The old courtyard offers a peaceful retreat despite its central location. The rooms are clean, and the butler service is excellent, even providing complimentary tea and fruit. Sitting in the courtyard chatting, it feels like time has turned back. It's also conveniently located, with the butler offering pick-up and drop-off services.

This was such a sweet stay! Very pretty hotel, way better than the photos. The room was extremely clean and felt quite new. There was a western toilet and the shower had a curtain. The air conditioner was working great. The location is quite convenient, 10 minutes from a gate by walking, and close to the main street. The recommended restaurants were well priced and had great food, nothing negative to say about anything on this hotel. A lot of free amenities and they even gave me some specialties on the checkout! I wish I had stayed more time in PingYao, the city is very beautiful.
