Anonymous UserWe were a little apprehensive before our arrival as the hotel was built in 2015. However, the hotel exceed our expectation.
The staff at the porch was patient, he helped us with us luggage and pointed to the free parking.
The receptionist explained the services and facilities available clearly and checked if we made plans for dinner as our room did not come with meals. She later helped us microwave our food purchased from Lawson.
The hotel has 3 private bath that doesn’t require reservation. Both the male and female onsen has great view of the river.
The facilities were clean and well maintained. Very calming views from the room, could sit there and enjoy tea. Recommended to spend an afternoon at the hotel to relax and rest. They provide ramen at 10.30pm too.

Calvin ThiaI had an enjoyable stay at Akan Yuku no Sato Tsuruga. The hotel offers a relaxing atmosphere and is a wonderful place to experience the beauty of Lake Akan.
The service was excellent throughout my stay. The staff were warm, attentive, and professional, always greeting guests with a smile and making every interaction pleasant. Their hospitality really enhanced the overall experience.
The onsen facilities were one of the highlights of the hotel. They are spacious, beautifully designed, and have a luxurious feel, offering a great variety of indoor and outdoor baths. The only minor drawback was that the top-floor outdoor bath did not appear to be as clean as the other baths. Overall, the onsen experience was still great.
The room was a little on the compact side, but it was clean, comfortable, and well maintained.
Overall, I had a great stay and Akan Yuku no Sato Tsuruga is a great choice in Lake Akan.

JoelhoonStayed at The Forest Akan Tsuruga Resort for three nights during our visit to Lake Akan.
The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of the lakeside, Ainu Kotan, visitor centre, restaurants, Kamuy Lumina, and many of the area's attractions. It made exploring Lake Akan very convenient without needing transportation.
The hotel itself has a warm, cozy atmosphere that blends nicely with the surrounding nature. Breakfast was especially enjoyable, with local favourites such as sweet shrimp sashimi and natto.
While our initial room was not quite ideal for our personal preferences, the staff were helpful in assisting us with a room change, and we ended up in a room that suited us much better. Their assistance was greatly appreciated.
One small observation is that during our three-night stay, the buffet menu remained largely the same each day. While the food was good, we found ourselves becoming a little repetitive by the second and third day. Guests staying for a longer period may appreciate a bit more variation in the menu.
The hotel also offers a public bath, although we did not use it during our stay, so I am unable to provide any comments or review on that facility.
One thing worth noting is that the hot spring bathing tax is still charged as part of the stay, regardless of whether guests choose to use the public bath facilities.
Another plus is the coin-operated laundry facilities, which are very useful for travellers staying several days or moving between destinations.
What I enjoyed most was using the hotel as a base to experience Lake Akan. During our stay we explored the forests, visited Ainu Kotan, walked the Kamuy Lumina trail, took the sightseeing cruise, visited the Marimo Exhibition and Observation Center, spotted deer and foxes, and enjoyed beautiful lake views.
On our final evening, the weather was perfect. We watched the sunset over Lake Akan and later enjoyed a sky full of stars. It was a memorable way to end our stay.
Overall, The Forest Akan Tsuruga Resort is a comfortable and convenient base for exploring Lake Akan and the surrounding area.
Thank you for a pleasant stay.

Kushiro isn't a big city, so there's not much to explore. For a one-night stay, this hotel was truly faultless! The room was a standard Japanese-style room, with just enough space to open one suitcase. Downstairs, there's a self-service coffee and tea station, and on each floor, you can choose your own pillow. The breakfast was excellent, and I especially loved the miso soup – it was packed with ingredients and delicious, plus they had Hokkaido milk! Parking is conveniently located right across from the hotel. There seemed to be many restaurants, but in winter, some were closed, and it was really cold, so we didn't venture too far. In summary: the staff were incredibly friendly, and for a one-night stay, it was absolutely perfect.

The hotel is conveniently located across from the JR station. There is a coin laundry on the premises, but the breakfast selection is limited.

The hotel's location is excellent; it's a two-minute walk straight ahead after turning left from the JR station. There's a bus stop and a sightseeing bus pick-up point right outside the entrance. It's also just over a ten-minute walk to Nusamai Bridge. The hotel breakfast is delicious, and there are complimentary alcoholic beverages and soft drinks on the first floor in the evenings. They also offer free hot springs. The only downside is the questionable cleanliness, which needs improvement.

Anonymous UserWe had a lovely stay at Hotel Gozensui in Lake Akan. The location is fantastic — the frozen lake and all the winter activities are just a short walk from the hotel. The staff were very helpful and welcoming, and even though English wasn’t widely spoken, they really tried their best to assist with anything we needed. Our room faced the lake and the view was beautiful, especially at night when we could watch the fireworks right from the room. A very memorable stay in Lake Akan.

Guest UserWe took a tour bus directly to the New Akan Hotel. The hotel is very grand, and although it's a bit old, it's very well-maintained with a European-American style decor. I booked a Japanese-style lake view room in advance, and the size was definitely larger than what was stated in the description, at least 30+ square meters. The indoor and outdoor onsen, all-you-can-eat dining, and service were all excellent. The location is superb, close to both the onsen street and the ice mountain attractions. There are two minor drawbacks: the dinner includes a buffet yakiniku, and the smell can't be dissipated, so the entire public area smells like it... thankfully, the rooms are fine. Also, as many have mentioned, there are a lot of tour groups, all from Taiwan, so the hotel is crowded everywhere you go. You need to plan your meals and onsen visits to avoid peak times. Despite this, the hotel's order is still quite good. The internal shops are not tax-free. If I have the chance to come again, I would still choose this hotel, but I'd try to avoid the times when there are large tour groups, as the environment is quite important when you're on vacation!

Guest UserI stayed here for the first time in May.
The parking lot was spacious and the large public bath was nice, so I made a reservation without hesitation this time. It's just a short walk from the station, so I was able to see the marsh bell on the platform and the beautiful sunset.
The breakfast area was spacious and the morning sun streamed in through the glass windows, making it a great way to start the day. The staff were all very friendly, so I'd definitely like to return.
The view from my room was also great.

The hotel side is adequate but simple. The restaurant part should be avoided, food basic cheap and the worse of our two weeks in Hokkaido. Staff was unfriendly to say the least. There is a beer box at the entrance of the restaurant, but that is ”outside” . We thought we should take the beer before entering the restaurant, and that got the staff just about scream at us, because beer is sold inside! Breakfast is from 7 to 9 and while we were finishing our breakfast started at 8.30 waitress showed up saying we should be out by 9 as they closed! Very close to Akan crane center but the worse accomodation of hokkaido, to be avoided if you can. All other places we stayed people were most friendly!
