3-Star Hotels in Newark upon Trent

We originally booked for a two night stay but were so impressed with the comfort and cleanliness of our room we stayed for a third. Quiet room, comfortable bed and great shower. All facilities close by. Special thanks to Julia in Reception and Tracey who were such a help, thank you. We would definitely stay again.

Review I had a terrible experience staying at this hotel. The hotel felt rundown and uncared for. I had no Wi-Fi for the duration of my stay. I had booked a standard double and was contacted two days before my stay asked if I’d like to upgrade for an extra hundred pounds to a super king room. I refused that offer but when I arrived, I had been allocated the room anyway. When I complained, the member of staff said ‘well we’re not charging you for it’. This was completely unsatisfactory because I didn’t get the facilities I required. I had was booked into room 30 in the attic. It was very hot and equipped with a very old creaky fan that kept me awake at night. The duvet was lumpy and the filling clumped together. The mattress was the worst I’ve ever slept on. There is nothing that I could recommend about this Hotel apart from its location.

OK hotel

We stayed here for a weekend while working at an exhibition at the nearby Newark showground. All I can say is that the concept is excellent. Self-contained, self-catering, fuss-free accommodation that has everything you need. I was concerned about the contactless method of obtaining entry to the property but this was all very smooth and worked well. I had a minor problem and had to contact Daniel by phone and he solved my issue very efficiently and professionally all in a courteous and professional way, I would heartily recommend The Plough Retreat
