Waterland

Our stay at Waterland, the night before we flew out from CMB, was convenient and enjoyable. The private bungalow was cute, and it was great having a private pool on our private patio. The food at the restaurant was exceptional. If you need a place to stay the night before leaving Sri Lanka, and want your last night to offer a non-city Sri Lankan vibe, I recommend Waterland!

*Wonderful Stay at Waterland Hotel – Monsoon Villaל, Negombo* We stayed at *Waterland Hotel in Negombo* in the *Monsoon Family Villa* for two nights. We were a family group: parents and three grown-up children. The hotel staff were kind and attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. The location is peaceful, not in the city center, and right next to the Dutch Canal. The rooms were spacious, clean, and had a private pool. Breakfast was excellent – it's recommended to pre-order special dishes from the menu the evening before. Dinner was very tasty, and we especially recommend the local Sri Lankan dishes. In the morning, we went for a walk and visited the local fish market. We also took a family boat ride from the hotel along the Dutch Canal for $55. We saw interesting wildlife, and our guide, Medzara from the hotel, was wonderful. The hotel features a billiards table over 100 years old. We met Mark, the hotel owner, who was very friendly and shared stories about the place. There are also bicycles available – it’s a good idea to request them in advance so they can be prepared.
