Catamaran Beach Hotel

Wow. This place is terrible... and I mean terrible. As with the previous reviewer, I was sentenced to 12+ hours here after I was bumped off an overbooked flight. It is an absolute disgrace that shows the airline to be the national embarrassment it is. This hotel is FILTHY. The lobby area stinks and there is grime everywhere. The pillow cases haven't even been laundered for gods sake. One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.

Had to spend one night over there duty an unexpected flight issue. We were transferred to this hotel by air port transfer service. The hotel experience was like not so good. We were given the dinner, a buffet with almost no options. Rooms was too dusty. Mosquitoes - no needs to talk about it by word of mosquitoes you can experience it . Staff is average. Any way from airport if it asked which hotel do you need from transfer counter , try to select any other except this

Hi, I have recently get a chance to stay at Catamaran Beach Hotel in regards to long transit via Colombo (Flight from Melbourne to Karachi), My overall experience is most fulfilling and satisfactory(given the cost vs benefits). As we have been welcomed by friendly staff member over the reception once we arrived to hotel from shuttle/bus service arranged by Srilankan Airlines(approx. 30 min from airport), they have provided us with welcome drink and let us have the keys to the room in no time, The room are quiet spacious for me and my wife, it was really neat and clean with all the necessary items provided like soap , towel and bed sheets, the furniture was old but luxurious , the bathroom was really spacious and clean with shower facility, Although, the hotel may look old from outside ( due to some wear and tear because of it's location near the beach-side) but it war really managed and maintained in good condition. The food we had their was amazing specially the vegetable soup as an appetizer, during our stay we got check in at day time (11:00 am to 9:30 pm) , there was two hotel boys that were accommodating us in lobby and at dining, they were really polite and respectful and were looking after us in every manner(not because they are hospitality workers but they were genuinely looking after us whatever way they could, you could sense the vibe), even one of the younger hotel boy was recommending us to have a beach view which was just near the hotel-side swimming pool, it was really a great view to watch and walk(150 meter from hotel back-view near the pool). We went out for a walk (can't go more than 500 meters due to transit visa) outside on the main road/street on which the hotel was located, the people were quite friendly and polite , they were quick to know that we are travelers and were welcoming us with polite gestures. This hotel reservation was for my return journey and on both occasions (on my way to destination and returning back home) Srilankan Airlines have made the bookings and reservations and they were both really great. P.S. :- As we have just traveled in recent times (between April 2022-May 2022) in which there were some disturbance and political instability was going on, we never had an issue during our trip, the only thing that I notice was long queue(1km+) of cars , bikes and auto-rikshaw for the petrol/ gas station waiting for their turn patiently. I would recommend ,whoever is thinking to fly to Srilanka or via Srilanka should booked their tickets and enjoy the hospitality of this wonderful country and it's people.
