Excellent hotel. Abit far from the city centre but it had an amazing environment surrounded by nature. The rooms were massive. The overall experience was great! The gym could been better on the other hand the pool was lovely.

On our recent visit, Dan was exceptionally helpful and made us feel right at home. We needed a last minute special request lunch order to go. He made it happen and took extreme strides to ensure everything was nut and peanut free. Thank you to Dan and the entire staff at this amazing property.

Anyone who stays at Hemmigways, Karen, Nairobi will not be disappointed.
The property is often used as a pre or post safari hotel.
But I used it as my destination resort in its own right & I was thrilled with everything, especially the kind & thoughtful attention from all the staff.

Роскошный! Жаль что останавливалась только на одну ночь. Придраться не к чему. Спасибо за гостеприимство. Обязательно приеду снова. Номера большие , чисто. Территория красивая, много бегает обезьянок. Есть бассейн. Вкусные рестораны.

Hemingways is positioned as an exclusive luxury 45 room hotel, located around beautiful gardens in the suburb of Karen. It has a modern colonial style. Staff were helpful and although each spacious room is allocated a “butler” it’s hard to see the benefit. Food, service etc were all acceptable but not memorable whilst its price point is very hard to justify when places such as the Norfolk (see separate review) fully deliver on value, service & historic charm.

I liked Hemingways overall, it's got a certain charm about it that made me come back for a second stay on a one night stopover in Nairobi. The lobby in particular has a great atmosphere, and the rooms are also spacious and well appointed. My main complaint is that the service isn't great - the concierge was very slow in responding to a simple request for an airport pickup (I had to email and then call twice for it to get sorted), they didn't honour my Amex benefits until I pointed it out to them, and I felt they really overcharged me for my city tour and trip to Nairobi National Park.

We had a terrible experience staying for a night with our two young sons. No one was there on arrival - we had to have someone from the restaurant help us find someone to check us in and assist with our bags. Our room was lovely, but the sewerage tank directly outside had just been emptied so there was a horrible smell all through the night. We went to the restaurant to order a cocktail and dessert to celebrate our birthdays. The dessert arrived after 45minutes and was raw (we'd ordered a crumble). After an hour waiting we gave up on our cocktails and left. There was hardly anyone there so it certainly wasn't because they were busy, and no one seemed to care at all. Breakfast the next morning was first burnt, and then came out with basically raw eggs. It was by far our worst experience staying anywhere in Nairobi. We emailed the manager after our stay to share our experience and never even got a reply. There are far better hotels in Nairobi with far lower price tags. Avoid this place and try one of them instead.
