Monte Gordo Hotels with Wi-Fi

Have just returned home after a week at this hotel. I noticed it had mixed reviews. My personal opinion of this hotel is it was perfect for my needs. The hotel is very clean and spacious. My room and bathroom were spotless. Free air con, free safe. A very decent size fridge that kept contents very cool. Free wifi all over the hotel and no problems with it. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. As we’re the bar staff. A “hi” to Martin who was super sweet. A huge dining area that was very clean. Lots of choice for breakfast. Cereals, yogurts, fruit, breads, cakes, cheese, meats, preserves and honey etc. There was also cooked bacon, sausages, fried and scrambled eggs, beans, mushrooms etc. Toaster at hand for toast. The bread rolls are baked fresh in the kitchen each morning and are delicious. My one and only negative is the choice of teabags. Needed three to produce one cup of weak tasteless tea. There’s a large sunbathing area with good quality sun loungers. The pool was stunning too. I would most definitely return to this lovely and well run hotel.

Staying here at the moment and yes the hotel is a bit dated but it is superb, definitely better than 3 stars. Last year we stayed in the 4 star Alcazar Hotel, which is close by, however it is closed this year, which resulted in us choosing Hotel Vasco da Gama. This hotel is much better; location, food, staff, beds, towels, bedding, pools and sunbeds all excellent. There is not a huge choice at dinner but what there is is excellent, resulting in me having difficulty in choosing what to have! Breakfasts are great too. Unfortunately we are going home tomorrow but will definitely be back, already looking to book for next year.

The hotel is conveniently located near beach and town centre. Very clean and well run. Room was good and cleaned every day. Pool area good too. Breakfast was fresh and well stocked. The breakfast staff were amazing- as the weekend was a bank holiday- they ran round like whirling dervishes restocking the food, cleaning tables etc. Reception staff helpful too. One point- no bottle of water in the fridge on arrival- I expect that after a long journey. Yes I’d recommend it

Basic hotel, rooms nice and clean, bed made every day. Staff not particularly friendly, food basic and boring went out most days. Pretty central for what we wanted, it was a place to sleep. Beach only about 5/10 minute walk which is beautiful.

My wife and I stayed at the Inn over Xmas and experienced a quiet, relaxing and enjoyable stay. We got one of the two upstairs rooms which had an outdoor balcony with two chairs and a delightful view of the mountains. Also a pleasant surprise was the super water pressure in our shower. It's just across the street from the water which was also very convenient as we were able to easily capture some wonderful sunsets and seabird activity without having to get in the car. The food in the restaurant downstairs was excellent and the warm smiling staff and the Inn owners were all extremely friendly and available. Thanks Jon and Nancy for a wonderful experience. We hope to be back again soon.

Vila Real and Monte Gordo are two interesting destinations for practicing sports (running, cycling, golf, etc.) and this Hotel has the ideal characteristics for it. Location close to sports facilities, rooms prepared for a good rest and a breakfast with healthy, quality options suitable for athletes.

I just got back from the trip.I stayed in this hotel. Very good European hotel for ”three stars.” Staff friendly and always ready to help.Aquarium on registration is quite large and spacious.No bullying on animals I have seen.Bed and towels are always clean.Of the toilet Appliances are only soap.All the rest you can buy in a gastronomy at a corner-cheap and available.Rooms and showers are spacious.There is a small ”kitchen” with a refrigerator, tile and microwave stove.All the food cooking facilities: pans, jars, knives,forks,slippers,a teapot and even a pad for wine and wine glasses.washing and kitchen towels.Wide balcony with table and chairs.The air conditioner works perfectly.On windows shadowy pillows.But the most important dignity is the location of the hotel.It is located in The very centre of the boulevard and two steps from the beach.I recommend visiting the VistaMar restaurant - delicious food and acceptable prices.Also cheerful and hospitality staff.

The best thing was breakfast. The room was changed to us saying it was superior, but the room we had reserved was refurbished and with shower, and the room we received no. And even though we went down and explained that we reserved it so for the difficulty not to use bathroom but they said they had no other. So a big negative point. And as regards the facilities, say they have a outdoor swimming pool, indoor ...(this is part of the spa that you have to pay and doesn't say it anywhere, but when you arrive there. The Calema is situated on a backstreet just a few minutes from the beach. Initial impressions are good. The public areas are clean and reasonably well maintained. The gym seemed busy but the pool was totally unused. My room was clean and consisted of a small bedroom and bathroom with a larger kichenette and living area with a balcony. The kitchen equipment was sticky, unsurprising given that neither washing up liquid or tea towels were provided, with a random selection of cups and plates. My friends in other rooms fared better or worse suggesting poor management of the cleaning team. The single beds are rock hard and very narrow, but I slept well. Unfortunately a dead bird appeared on my balcony halfway through my stay which I reported four times on successive day, but it was still there on departure. The restaurant was poor. Cold breakfast options only and limited choices. The evening buffet was even worse with no vegetarian options or even labelling to tell you what you might be eating. After the first night we realised that we needed to eat at the start of the stated period as the food soon cooled and nothing was topped up. Vegetables were either cooked to death or missing altogether. For example, one night a single melon was put out along with another item, when they ran out quickly (before we got to that stage) a few small bowls of red jelly (of indeterminate flavour) were put out. An odd man also seemed to be hanging around glaring at people (we were told that he was the owner but he did no obvious work). Most days he seemed to be in the lounge with his phone loudly on speaker either shouting into it or watching something, making it impossible to have a quiet drink in the bar. One evening he hosted some sort of family meal after which one of the children was given the key to the piano. She then proceeded to play very badly and loudly. We complained to the man and he just shrugged. We left along with our fellow guests. So in summary, the Calema could be a good hotel but it needs some management attention, a decent food offering and for the owner to respect that we are paying guests and that the public areas are not an extension of his living room.
