2-Star Hotels in Mobile

I needed a room for one night because I was attending a show in Downtown Mobile. After reading reviews and looking at the location (which was very close to the venue), I went with the Candlewood. It was very nice, especially for the cost. There was a mini kitchen in the room with a full sized refrigerator, two stove burner, a microwave, and a sink. The bathroom was ver nice and had a walk in shower with sliding glass doors. My room had a great view of downtown. Oh and the mattresses ..... oh my gosh! I was tempted to take the covers off to see the brand! They were so cozy and comfortable. Also, the staff was so great! Matthew is who I spoke to at the front desk and he was absolutely phenomenal! I will definitely be booking a room here again when I travel to Mobile.

My husband & I recently spent 5 nights in a 1 king bed 1 bedroom suite. When we travel we usually don't stay in chain hotels and assumed it would just be a place to sleep. We were wrong. Everyone was friendly. The breakfast was what I expected but the friendly attitude made it a fun place to go each morning. We also enjoyed relaxing with a cup of tea/coffee in the area after a day of exploring. The front desk was friendly greeting us each time we came back in. Housekeeping was every other day or as requested (which were all honored in a timely fashion). Convenient downtown location for sightseeing. Not being a fan of southern cooking a Greer's supermarket was a 10 minute walk away. The room had a wrap around terrace and was quiet. Glad we stayed and will do so again if we return to Mobil.

The environment is OK, it is cheap and good in this small town. It is the house that has been in the house for some years. If you are particularly fond of cleaning, you should carefully consider it.

Lovely looking place. It's a historic inn, so we weren't expecting the most up-to-date amenities. But when we got there, had to search for a front desk person - the call number they left had a full mailbox. We were told our room was on the top (3rd) floor and that the elevator was out of order (apparently been broken a long time). I explained that I had mobility issues that made it difficult to climb all the stairs with luggage etc. I was hoping she would change us to a ground floor room. Her response: ”Aw, bless your heart.” So we schlepped upstairs to find a view, not of the courtyard, which was what we booked, but of the demolition of the old convention center. Well, that couldn't be helped. but we couldn't get the ”blackout” curtains completely closed, maybe because they were attached to the rods with zip ties! It was not possible to make coffee - there was no pot or carafe to put in the machine. Front desk tried to tell me to just put the cup into the machine to catch the coffee. Cup didn't fit and besides, it was styrofoam and would have melted on the bottom heating burner where the pot usually sits. I told her that and she looked at me like I was nuts. On the upside, the rest of the staff was very friendly and the room and bed were clean and comfy. Location was great. Not a bad stay, but I doubt I would book there again.

Could have been perfect. First the positive, it was nice and comfortable stayed 2 nights. Second morning I called down for towels , wash cloths and coffee. It was 8:40am. She said housekeeping doesn’t come in until 9:30 ? But that I could come down and get them. Get to the desk and she’s in her phone, I wait a bit and when I finally say hello she looks up. Ask for them again and she says she can give me what she has. Hands me 4 hand towels, I ask can she give me actual towels and she proceeds to say she doesn’t have any wash cloths or towels. I say , can you go get some please and she goes into a room by the desk and says she doesn’t have any. She sees another lady who appears to me to be housekeeping , she goes into a room again and says they don’t have any , I said well can I get some out of an empty room please!? We need to shower. She hesitantly starts to go up to a room I assume. Then I told the front desk lady “ I’m sorry but this is unacceptable. This is a hotel, it’s 9am and people need to shower “ she says they were booked and that’s why they have no towels. She then gives me pool towels!! Unacceptable on all levels! The breakfast also sucked.

Very nice representation of the brand. A nice property in a quiet location. Friendly and accommodating staff that moved me to an even nicer bigger room when my original room type didn't have a refrigerator. All with a smile. The room was spacious clean and a comfortable mattress. 5 to 10 minutes from food shopping and the airport. The price was reasonable for an airport hotel. And I didn't hear any planes.

I did not plan to stay at this hotel- I was on a long road trip, and due to unanticipated road work and traffic accidents along the way that caused significant driving delays, I was unable to make it to my destination that evening. I booked the room on the Marriott Bonvoy app. The desk clerk was not at the front desk when I arrived- he was in a room behind the desk. The hallway was dark and dingy- very poorly lit. The room was clean; however, I wanted to use the freezer in the room refrigerator and found what is shown in the attached photo. Other issues: lightbulb in the room was burnt out, and while shampoo and bar soap was in the room, there was no lotion. I went downstairs to ask for it- and again, the clerk had to be summoned to the desk. I had no issues whatsoever with noise. I was grateful that the hotel had a hot breakfast- the breakfast hostess was outgoing and welcoming, but so much so that she was almost intrusive. This hotel is located in a busy area off of I-65. If you want a less congestion, I suggest driving north a few miles to Saraland- there are newer hotels in a less urban setting. This hotel could be so much better with a thorough renovation and a few tweeks in customer service.

BLACK MOLD IN BATHROOM!!! Checked in after all of the ”great” reviews. Lobby was nicely updated but very heavily perfumed. Went to the room flipped the light switch which only turned on one dim light. Turned o the bathroom light and there was a large spit of black mold on the wall next to the tub that looks like it had been painted over many times. We left immediately and went to ask for a refund. The man behind the desk was very unconcerned about me saying they had black moldand ieven tried showing him the picture I took. He said please let me get you a new room and you can inspect it before. I had no intention of staying but he said please just check. We went..and he shows us the room rightness to the one with the black mold... I thought he was kidding. I said the room with mold is right next door.He said but no mold in this room. We asked for a refund and I reported them to the Mobile health department. This hotel has also hanged hands 3 times in the last year. So bad..

My wife and I enjoyed everything about our visit even the children enjoying themselves at the pool. The room was huge and very clean, and the bed was soft and extremely comfortable. The most awesome staff anywhere, and the price can not be beat. We will definitely visit again soon.
