This hotel is located in Aso district, up the mountain. Preferably to drive. Parking is complimentary. The room is spacious, with a living room and bathroom. Went for the onsen for hotel guests. It has indoor and outdoor onsen pools. I included 2 meals for my stay, breakfast and dinner. Worth the try for the buffet breakfast and dinner.

Very good dinner & breakfast. But room abit old, can’t accept it has no shower in the room, you need to go to onsen to shower. Onsen quality soso, not strong flavour and temperature is not that hot like others.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The buffets are quite good. But the ventilation of the toilet inside the room seems not good.

Serve in buffet style and lots of choice. Room size is good and new renovated. There has private onsen for couple and families without additonal charge. Close to the shopping street. But need to check with the restaurants, most of them close on Tue or Wed

There are many public and private bath to choose from in this ryokan. Plus you can get the kurokawa onsen pass (tegata) which gives you access to 3 external onsens in the town (most ryokans in town are participating) within one year of purchase of the tegata. We didn’t book dinner at the hotel, and used the diner time to try Nonohana お宿 野の花 and Ryokan Konoyu 黒川温泉 旅館 こうの湯, then next morning before breakfast I went to most of the onsens in the hotel, then after breakfast we checked out and tried Miyama Sanso 山みず木別邸 深山山荘, all four places (including this hotel) have amazing onsens and views. We drove so it was easier for us to try onsens far from the hotel, but driving in town wasn’t the easiest given narrow roads. The parking lot is a few minutes walk from the hotel, we kept the key with us for easy move around.

The location is good, close to the shopping street. Staff are helpful and friendly. However, we just found out there is no shower inside the room so it is inconvenient. Breakfast was delicious

Kurokawa is a more local hot spring in Japan. It does not have the high-end commercialization of Beppu. Transportation can only be done by bus. The hotel is right on the hot spring street. You can easily find the hotel by following the road signs after getting off the bus. If you don't want to walk, you can directly contact the hotel car to pick you up at the bus station. The hot spring is very clean and right next to the waterfall. It is very pleasant to soak and listen to the sound of the waterfall. There is also a three-hour hiking route outside the hotel, which starts a beautiful day in Kurokawa. The hotel provides afternoon tea drinks such as milk to guests staying in the hotel, and there is also a happy hour for drinks in the evening. By the way, there is a Chinese waiter at the front desk who can communicate directly

Kurokawa Onsen is not very convenient to get to, but the experience is very good because of this. Youcai is a relatively large hot spring hotel in Kurokawa, and there will be staff to pick you up at the bus stop. The facilities are very good, the environment is very good, and the buffet is also very good.

It was really really good. I want to go again. It was a room without tatami mats, but I liked the room, and the dinner was made with fresh ingredients, so it was more delicious than eating at any other restaurant. I took the bus because I was a walker, but they took me to the bus stop when I checked out, which was the best. I will definitely visit again next time!!
