This hot spring resort is a beautiful facility located on large, gorgeous grounds, less than two hours from Tokyo station. The Tanigawa mountain range mid-November offered a wonderful backdrop to our suite of three rooms including our private outdoor bath. We spent two days walking the grounds, enjoying the wonderful cuisine, taking numerous dips in our bath as well as experiencing dips in the the two larger communal baths. The service was impeccable, the refrigerator refilled regularly, and late night snacks delivered to our room both evenings. The facility is large but there are only about 16 suites so it feels very quiet and tranquil. Whether you are visiting Japan for the first time or are a frequent visitor to onsen resorts, you should consider staying at Bettei Senjuan. We think it is special.

I used to stay in the main building, but this time the cheap main building is not available, so I stayed in the annex. Is the main building enough considering the cost performance with an emphasis on hot springs? In the annex, it will be a room meal, but there are many aspects that it is easier to eat at a restaurant where you can order early ... The essential hot springs are Longevity Hoshi no Yu, and there is no complaint at the foot of Hoshi no Yu! The two places in the back of Hoshi no Yu, which have no hanging water from the top, are a little warm in winter, but I think you should choose the place as you like because you can soak it for a long time. The Tamaki no Yu, which was disappointed when I visited last time, did not enter this time. (Because the chlorine odor is strong in the circulation, the impression of other hot water is halved.) There are some hot comments about mixed bathing, but many men feel uncomfortable when women come in. (Because the current situation is that it is virtually a male bath under the name of mixed bathing) Hoshi-no-Yu, which has four bathtubs, also enters by looking at other customers, temperature, and places where it is springing out, so it is a woman's changing room. I have to turn my face toward the direction I think there are tough things, but my wife has been lamenting since last time because there is only women-only time from 20:00 to 22:00 here. The atmosphere of the room and the goodness of the hot water are urinary, and it will be a high accommodation fee there alone, but it is true that the food is a little disappointing considering the accommodation fee of more than 20,000 yen. (I think it's a little unsatisfactory for young people who don't drink alcohol and just eat.) Personally, since we emphasize hot springs, there are some downsides, but it will still be a perfect score.

We used it on a tour to OZE. From the hotel to OZE to the OZE to the OZE to the hotel microbus I was able to go in time and was very convenient. The room was available for two people in the triple room and was relaxing. I stayed here in April 2022 on the occasion of the expansion of Kenminwari. As the name of the inn suggests, the sound of the murmuring of the river never ceases. The hot springs are colorless and transparent, glittering and slippery. It is said that there are plenty of hot spring sources, and the spouts of all baths are drinkable. There is a large communal bath for men and women in the main building and a separate mixed bathing open-air bath, which is not connected to the bath in the main building. The hot water is completely transparent, so the hurdle for mixed bathing is high. However, there are separate dressing rooms for men and women, and bath clothes are available at the shop. Dinner is a kaiseki meal with lean beef steak grilled on a stone slab as the main dish. Mr. Nakai is a foreigner, but he does his best to explain the dishes. I bow my head like a hard worker in a foreign land. Inari sushi is prepared in the room for a late-night snack, but this is a grown-up taste mixed with wasabi stems. For breakfast, if you go at the exact time of your reservation, the dashimaki* will still be warm. There was a great attention to detail. There are many cherry blossoms planted in the garden of this inn, but this time it was a really elegant timing when the cherry blossoms in full bloom were blown by the wind and turned into a cherry blossom storm.

The hotel is not far from the station, about a five-minute drive away. Near the hotel is Tianyi Art Museum whose owner is an artist of traditional Shakuhachi musical instruments. The decoration and details of the hotel are very artistic. Inadvertently found a hotel with a local traditional culture atmosphere. You need to make an appointment if you have a private soup, and you can see the outdoor scenery. Public soups for men and women are separated and served 24 hours a day. The breakfast is delicious and authentic with local specialties. The dinner will provide musical instrument performance and experience. Interesting.

Ultra modern hotel. Each room has beautiful river and mountain views. Very clean everywhere. Private hot spring bath on balcony is wonderful. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Maybe the best standard sized room of any hotel I've visited. We have visited a number of onsen hotels around Japan and this one was our favorite; both for the room and the meals. The problem here is that the beautiful small shops on the quaint street are almost all closed; and not for the season. I know business will pick up in the winter when skiers from nearby Tokyo come here but it is too bad that the shops have failed. Something needs to be done to bring more traffic and create things to do outside the hotel. The river in September is low so no rafting or kayaking. If you like to hike there are many trails in the surrounding areas.

I've stayed there before, but since it's 1/3 of the size, there were a lot of people there. I ate what I wanted to eat and was satisfied, but I was disappointed that the seats I was given were the same both in the evening and in the morning, which was a busy place. There were fewer people in the bath than I expected, and I was able to take a bath in three different places, so I was able to relax. I was looking forward to the fireworks, but I had to cling to the window to see them, so I gave up my spot to my small child and just enjoyed the sounds. I think it would be fun for everyone to have fireworks at the bottom, like Niagara Falls. Overall, this is a place I would like to stay at again.

Takaragawa Onsen exceeded all expectations. Upon arriving at Jomokogen station, a friendly driver meets you with a sign and drives you comfortably for 25 km. You need to register in advance by sending an email to the hotel. Upon entering, you immediately feel transported to the past: you leave your shoes, choose a yukata robe with an obi, receive socks and special bathing attire, and proceed to your room in a traditional Japanese style (I highly recommend this to fully experience the atmosphere of the place). When you enter the room, you will likely experience a shock, as it feels like you've stepped into an old movie. I recommend a room with a small balcony in the Main building overlooking the river. Check-in is around 3 PM. You can change and head straight to the hot springs. Yes, everyone has been to saunas, steam rooms, and hammams, but the onsen is unlike anything else. It's impossible to convey the emotions. The combination of hot, clear water, pure air, surrounding nature, the rushing river, the play of light on the leaves, the scents, and the silence offers something new and unique. There are three public baths on the premises and one exclusively for women. After bathing, head to the restaurant for dinner, featuring local dishes. I recommend ordering both dinner and breakfast in advance. The food is very delicious and unique. You will sleep on futons, which will be carefully laid out for you while you have dinner. It’s a wonderful experience, and you'll sleep as lightly as a child. I would love to return here to experience that happiness again. One day was not enough.
