Swimming pool facility closed but still advertised. We were not informed prior to our stay that the pool would be closed. We chose this hotel for the location & pool. The hotel is conveniently placed for city stay & tour. We were on the 12th floor, so a pretty decent view overlooking the cathedral & government building. The room was spacious & ok, with tea/coffee making facility. The bed was comfortable & clean. The staff were ok, but nothing stands out in the way of welcome or service. The restaurant could do with brightening & lightening up. Breakfast was ok.

The hotel is very well located, close to the cathedral, with easy access by car. It is a traditional hotel with good facilities, but the service leaves a lot to be desired and the breakfast is not satisfactory. There are very few fruit, cheese and cold cuts options, or rather, there is only one type of each. As for the service, I asked for a towel for the pool, I had to repeat the order 3 times and the towel only arrived after 30 minutes, when I was already leaving the pool area. At reception the information is not always accurate. The bar was often without an attendant. To get a simple bottle of water you had to wait 5 minutes or more for the attendant.

The hotel facilities are good, but the service leaves much to be desired, as well as the breakfast. Comfortable room, good bed, shower is bad. I asked for a towel for the pool and had to repeat the request three times. It took over half an hour for the towel to arrive. I would say the hotel is a bit run down.

The hotel is located in the so-called Funchal building, where the Civil Registry Offices used to be. It is located in the center of the city, right next to the Cathedral. If you stay on the 9th floor you will have great views over the city. The people at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. There was cleanliness and readiness to satisfy the customer. Breakfast is acceptable, although for non-English people there could be a little more on offer, namely honey and one or another jam. The least good thing about this hotel is that I was not entitled to transfers to and from the airport. And another very strange thing is that the taxi service that serves the hotel does not charge per trip but for the number of people in the taxi! This hotel is worth it for its excellent location, seriousness and hygiene. As for breakfast, it's the bare minimum. Lunch and dinner vary slightly throughout the week. The price can be accepted as adequate. It is a hotel that is many, many years old. It has very beautiful works of art inside. As for the rooms, they are satisfactory for a 3 star, but there are better ones. There is no transport to and from the airport and if requested, they charge for the trip, which is just one, per head of person. In other words, if the car carries 3 people, the price is per person and not per trip. Never seen such a thing. Just like you've never seen before, they require a fee to have it in the room, which has a mini kitchen, to have 2 plates and 2 cutlery. A hotel will do, but truth be told, there are better options and for the same or lower price. The pool was not used, but truth be told it is very small.
