The rooms are spacious, clean and tidy, with disposable slippers. Breakfast is OK. Very close to the train station. Can park. Going to the old town is not far away. It was a downhill road and it was quite tired. The hotel also offers a free Lugano bus card, which can be used free of charge by bus and 2/3 bus.

The hotel has a homey feel. It is quite large for a solo traveler. The hotel is located at the center - train station is quite accessible too via the funicular. Breakfast was fine. Though one has to book the time as the space is quite small and that social distancing is practiced. Masks are required while taking the food. Staff is very approachable and helpful, and can speak English so it was quite easy to communicate.

We were very happy with our stay at Walter Au Lac. Excellent location, beautiful terrace. Breakfast was plentiful and the attendants were extremely attentive. They provided a high chair for my daughter and kept her entertained. They were very kind though they didn't speak much English. The room was very clean and spacious. The view from the balcony wasn't great since we had the last room in the hall on the second floor. There was a tree in the way of the Lake view but we felt being able to go to the terrace was a consolation. Overall, we were very happy here and would stay here again. Parking was about 4 min away walking, and sometimes it may be cheaper to pay the actual garage price than the 28 CHF the hotel offers. Just do the math to see what is better.

Great attention to detail by its proprietor Learco Bernasconi and wife along with desk administrator Leila who all keep it spotlessly clean and are always only too glad to please and recommend things without being overly fussy. Hotel offers free local transport voucher which also includes a number of discountable Lugano attractions. Attached bistro restaurant/pizzeria offers a menu which is frequently changed during the week to keep it fresh and interesting. Well and moderately price rooms which include breakfast offering a continental style spread. Overall- literally little if anything to complain of. Very much in the Swiss tradition of hotel management. For people looking for a well run 3-3.5 star accommodation.

We’ve fallen in love with this place! Our stay felt like stepping back in time, with the hotel’s rich history, antique furniture, and traditional service creating an unforgettable experience. The attention to detail and quality really stood out, making it the perfect place to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. We loved spending our afternoons on the balcony overlooking the piazza, enjoying the peaceful view. The honesty bar was a lovely touch, and the beautiful teapots added charm. We thoroughly enjoyed reading about the hotel’s history and admiring the beautiful photos throughout. It was a truly exceptional, comfortable, and pleasant stay. We’ll definitely be back. The rooms are very nice and the environment is beautiful. Sitting on the balcony of the room, listening to birds, drinking a little wine, and admiring the lights of Lugano Lake and the mountain homes on the opposite side, it is really a treat. The room is equipped with an electric kettle, shampoo, and shower gel. You need to bring your own dental appliances and slippers.

This hotel has pluses and minuses. I booked it for the price and Lake view. Most to the reviews here are correct in some ways. The old owner does walk around smoking a cigar (mostly in the restaurant downstairs), and his baby photos are everywhere. It's a bit creepy. However, we found our room to be very clean and comfortable AND we had a balcony with the promised lake view which was spectacular! We also had a bathtub, which you don't find often in the mid-range hotels. It was clean and the water nice and hot, although the drain didn't work well. The thick glass doors kept the noise out at night and we slept well. We found the hotel perfectly safe. Good thing we didn't read the rest of these reviews before booking! I wouldn't recommend Lord Tillingdon's restaurant below the hotel however; the food and wine were so-so and too expensive for what we got.

Ho soggiornato due notti ed ho scelto un appartamento comodissimo. Arredato in modo sobrio ed elegante. Tutto pulitissimo. Come da foto. Comodo il checkin automatico che permette di fare tutto in autonomia. Gli appartamenti sono facilmente collegati tramite una scala interna anche per il bistrot per chi vuole utilizzare la loro cucina per pranzi, cene e colazioni, senza dover uscire. La colazione che ho provato è ottima ed il personale gentilissimo e disponbile. Parcheggio gratuito per i clienti. Ho trovato invece poco funzionale l'altezza per l'accesso/uscita della doccia...un po' rischiosa del mio appartamento. In generale consiglio vivamente questo CPRESORT . Ma consiglio: - di dotare l'appartamento di bustine per qualche tisana che alieterebbe il soggiorno. - lasciare al bistrot degli adattatori per prese in caso di necessità come avviene negli alberghi

I arranged my trip at very short notice, arrived very late, but Luca was there to welcome me to his Hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and when my lift to the Airport didn’t arrive due to a landslide on the main road from Milan to Lugano, Luca offered to take me, without which, I would not have made my Flight home. In short, excellent location, great value for money and a perfect host!
