Hotels in Shuhe Old Town, Lijiang

The longest time I stayed in Lijiang was 8 consecutive days. Compared with the ancient city, Shuhe Ancient Town is less commercialized, and the relatively literary Baisha Ancient Town has more choices, achieving a perfect balance in terms of location and cost-effectiveness. The front desk staff provided very good service, helping with luggage, cleaning and replenishing the room every day, and preparing a variety of breakfasts. It feels rustic and quiet, perfect for quiet writing or working. Hot water is guaranteed and the bedding is comfortable. If there is a disadvantage, it is that there is only one room card, so charging is not very convenient; also, the room may be a bit cold on rainy days due to its large depth. But overall the summer is still very comfortable, and you can see the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain on a sunny day. The room design is also very peaceful, maintaining the ethnic style of the Naxi people, especially the small attic on the top of the mountain, which is the most suitable place for writing. Five-star praise for service, hygiene, and perfect location!

In fact, I found it casually two hours before I arrived in Lijiang. I didn't expect it. After I entered the homestay, I was very pleasantly surprised. First of all, the room is very large, composed of the living room and bedroom; the two 1.5 meters beds are very soft and comfortable. The room facilities are all wooden and have a texture. Secondly, the homestay is very close to Shuhe Ancient Town, only a five or six minute walk away, very quiet, you can see the snow-capped mountains. Also, the boss was super enthusiastic and helped with the luggage. Liqiu also sent milk tea, knowing that we needed a battery car to run all the way. In short, the price is super high, recommended!

This is my second time staying at this hotel. My last visit was six years ago, and I had a very good impression. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied. I was upgraded to a villa for the first two nights after check-in, even though I hadn't booked one. The delivery service was also very timely! The service was excellent. The off-season villa package offered great value. The airport transfer service was incredibly worthwhile, with a Tesla for pickup and drop-off. The afternoon tea was also delightful. The room was incredibly quiet. I stayed for six nights, spending half days exploring, and developed a habit of taking baths and going to bed early. I felt completely rejuvenated, as if all the stress from the daily grind had melted away. It's perfect for those seeking a relaxing and restorative getaway. Light sleepers or those with sensitive nerves will truly find excellent rest in this villa! The hotel is very close to Shuhe Ancient Town, which I actually prefer. I truly love its quiet and less crowded atmosphere. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options, and I saw little ducks and pigeons every day. It's a slight pity I didn't get to see the snow-capped mountains often due to the recent rainy season, but the environment is truly comfortable. I'd definitely want to stay here again on my next visit. While there were a few minor imperfections, they certainly didn't detract from the overall excellent experience. The good truly outweighed the minor flaws, and the service was attentive yet never intrusive.

A belated review. This hotel is located near Shuhe Ancient Town, about a ten-minute walk away. It's next to the Pullman Hotel and offers a very quiet and peaceful environment. As for the hotel facilities, I personally think the owner is quite thoughtful and is striving to emulate the tastes of first-tier brands. Therefore, the hotel is unlike many newer hotels these days. However, times change, and it seems that the high-cost amenities of international brands are being surpassed by the latest domestic alternatives (which are still new, just not as high-tech as many hotels today). This may have been unexpected at first. I still admire the hotel's design. The courtyard is stunning. Cleanliness and comfort are quite acceptable. The service is also very pleasant. I highly recommend this hotel, especially for those who seek a quiet retreat after a busy day. Waking up in the morning and quietly sipping tea in the courtyard is such a delight.

It truly exceeded my expectations. I usually stay in five-star hotels when traveling with children, considering their safety and hygiene. This time in Lijiang, I wanted to try a homestay, so I blindly booked two rooms for two adults and two children. The front desk was very considerate and upgraded the room. The room was very quiet, clean, and refreshing. Even someone with a nervous breakdown who usually requires a lot of sleep, slept very well. The staff was very friendly, bringing fish food to feed the children every morning and giving them two small fish gifts when we left. We also saw a baby squirrel in the courtyard! I was so happy! Two days after leaving, I realized I had left my shampoo at the hotel, and the hotel was so thoughtful to send it back to me. I was so touched...

The room was incredibly spacious and spotless. What's more, it's located right in Shuhe Ancient Town – Lijiang's most authentic and least commercialized ancient town, brimming with local life. A standout feature of this guesthouse is its private courtyard and tea room. Guests are welcome to relax in any area, which creates a truly comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The guesthouse is managed by a group of young men who are all incredibly thoughtful and attentive. They were also very prompt in responding to any questions in the WeChat group. The breakfast was excellent and very generous, offering a refined selection of both Chinese and Western dishes, including coffee, milk, rice noodles, and even okra. It's completely understandable why this place has over 3,000 overwhelmingly positive reviews! I highly recommend this guesthouse and will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Lijiang.

Jennifer from customer service was incredibly helpful and promptly resolved any issues we had. Upon check-in, we had two separate bookings with different room types, but she quickly and efficiently merged them, saving us the hassle of switching rooms during our three-night stay – a huge convenience. The breakfast spread was also generous and varied. Our room featured a private balcony, and the hotel even offers a pillow menu, allowing guests to select one that perfectly suits their individual preference. Our room was a standalone courtyard villa, and the interior decor featured traditional Naxi architectural style. The public areas were spotless, and the meticulously maintained landscaping was evident throughout the property. Our room was quiet, ensuring a perfect night's sleep. Staying here was incredibly relaxing, truly feeling like a secluded paradise. It was a thoroughly satisfying experience.

Juejuezi's B&B When choosing this hotel, the most compelling factor was the ”next door to Shuhe Ancient Town with snow-capped mountain views.” Upon arrival, it was even more stunning than the pictures! The hotel is a mere ten-minute walk from the entrance to Shuhe Ancient Town, avoiding the crowds of the main street while still allowing for plenty of shopping and dining. Returning home in the evening, the sight of the ancient town's lights juxtaposed against the distant silhouette of the snow-capped mountains instantly made the experience worthwhile. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the room were the perfect touch. Opening the curtains in the morning, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain shone brightly before my eyes, even the morning mist drifting over the peaks was clearly visible. No need to rush to the scenic area to grab a seat; you can enjoy this view all to yourself with a cup of tea in your room. The most surprising thing was the attentive service. Upon arrival, they helped us carry our luggage to our room, offered suggestions for things to do in Shuhe Ancient Town, and highlighted local eateries. Evening, when I wanted to borrow a charger, the staff delivered it directly to my room. Every little detail was truly heartwarming. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Lijiang!

Secondly, the service is very considerate. The hotel provides breakfast and afternoon tea, as well as snacks such as flower cakes, American, and Tremella soup. It also provides portable ironing machines, etc. Overall, it is a very good experience.

How should I get started with this? Well, I would say this is a truly hidden gem. In the old town of Shu He （束河）there lies this ancient stylish guesthouse which provides great service and great staying experience. Of course, we were given a free room upgrade which added to the pleasant experience. Besides, the receptionist (吴先生）was very thoughtful and helpful, and the lady who prepared us the yummy breakfast adds to the great experience too. If you are looking for a quiet and cozy vacation, this is definitely the place to go to!
