Hotels in Nijo Castle, Kyoto

The location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk to the Shijo bus stop and 10 minutes to the subway station. With a FamilyMart conveniently located downstairs, all our breakfast and late-night snack needs were covered. This hotel offers great value for money. The room was quite spacious, featuring a king-size bed that comfortably accommodated two people. It also came with a small sofa and a table. I was particularly pleased with the ample hangers provided. A delightful surprise was the onsen (hot spring) bath; it was wonderfully relaxing to soak in it every evening after exploring. My only minor point of confusion was that while the room was tidied daily, the bed itself wasn't made. It would have been nice if they could at least straighten out the sheets a bit.

Overall, the room was quite spacious for Japanese standards, and both the facilities and cleanliness were good. The room was very quiet; we didn't hear any noise from other guests, indicating good soundproofing. All in all, this hotel offers excellent value for money. We even caught sight of a memorial parade passing by downstairs from our room and went down to watch it. The hotel's location is also fantastic, with subway and bus stations conveniently nearby. Highly recommended.

I was very pleased with our stay. The room was more spacious and comfortable than our accommodation in Osaka, and the price was very reasonable. Our quad room featured two Western-style beds and two futon mattresses laid out on the tatami floor, which the kids absolutely loved. While it might feel a bit cramped for five people, it was perfectly comfortable for our group of four. We just managed to fit all our luggage. The hotel was exceptionally clean, and we appreciated the separate toilet and shower/bath area. The tatami flooring in the room was spotless. Breakfast was a set meal (teishoku) that we pre-ordered and had delivered to our room. While it wasn't particularly delicious, it was convenient and helped us out since most restaurants in Japan open quite late in the morning. There's complimentary sake available in the hotel lobby, which was a very pleasant bonus. They also offer a free public bath (onsen) and popsicles. We tried the bath once, and it was incredibly refreshing after a long day of city walking. The hotel is located 1.2 kilometers from Kyoto Daimaru Department Store. The subway station is just a left turn away from the hotel entrance, and there are also bus stops nearby, offering convenient access to all the main attractions. Kyoto JR Station is about a 2.7 km taxi ride, which cost us around 2000 JPY.

Upon arrival at the Richmond Premiere Hotel Kyoto Shijo, the spacious and bright lobby immediately captivates. Large floor-to-ceiling windows flood the hotel with natural light, while plants and a flowing water feature outside create a tranquil and elegant atmosphere. There's no traditional check-in counter; guests are seated wherever they please and are greeted by a friendly staff member with a welcome drink. From the outset, the hotel's attentive service is evident. The hotel's third floor is the heart of the hotel, housing the lobby, restaurant, and lounge. Daily cultural activities are held, and guests are welcome to participate, adding a touch of Kyoto flair to their trip. Guest rooms are located on floors 4 to 8. Elevator access requires keycard access on the third floor, a thoughtful and secure design. A microwave, washing machine, vending machine, and ice machine are located on the sixth floor for added convenience. Breakfast is a highlight, a refined culinary journey through Kyoto, offering a variety of grilled items, pickles, and small dishes, along with traditional Kyoto cuisine and even breakfast drinks. Indulge in a unique culinary experience from the morning onwards. Snacks are served during afternoon tea, and Happy Hours after 5pm is extremely popular. Whether you want to relax for a moment or have a drink with your travel companions, it is a pleasant time not to be missed during your trip.

Getting there was relatively convenient, only two stops on the JR San-in Main Line after transferring from the Haruka express. While there aren't many dining options right around the hotel, convenience stores like Lawson and 7-Eleven are very handy. The street outside is quiet. The room itself was very small, with aisles so narrow only one person could walk through at a time. The white shower stool in the bathroom had some yellow stains, which was a bit off-putting. On the brighter side, the hotel does offer a large public bath. Laundry facilities are also available, costing 300 yen for washing and 100 yen for drying, which was quite convenient!

We had a good stay there. The service is good. Room is clean. There are several shops and restaurants nearby. It’s about 8-10mins walk to the nearest subway station. 20-25mins walk to the market. The hotel provides tea, coffee and water at the reception. There are washing machines, ice machine and vending machines on the same floor. Their public bath is clean and good.

We really enjoyed our stay at Urban Kyoto Nijo Premium Hotel. The service was excellent, and the staff were very attentive and kind. Our room was cozy, spotless, and had great sound insulation, which made it easy to relax after long, eventful days exploring Kyoto. We would gladly stay here again!

The hotel is quite a distance from both the subway station and the main shopping street, making shopping quite inconvenient. Even the bus stop requires about a 100-meter walk and crossing an overpass. They offer a public bathhouse with separate sections for men and women. The water was quite clean, and it felt incredibly relaxing to soak in after a long day of walking. My room, located on the 9th floor, had a distinct urine-like odor when the air conditioning was turned on. The smell only dissipated after I used the air purifier. The included buffet breakfast had a rather limited selection of items. On a positive note, there's an excellent ramen shop located right downstairs from the hotel, which is definitely worth a visit.

This hotel is very good location, near Omiya station (Hankyu line), Exit#5 has elevator 🛗 from platform to ground floor). If take Kyoto City bus, take bus number 206, 207 to Omiya matsubara station and walk just 150meters. This hotel is very clean, has all amenities, and facilities in the room (refrigerator and hair dryer). This hotel also have coin laundry machine and ice maker machine at 1st floor. I'm very happy with this hotel and its reasonable price, so I extend to stay here total 5 days.

This hotel is absolutely fantastic! The only minor drawback is the 7-8 minute walk to the subway station, but otherwise, it's flawless. The room was impeccably clean and tidy. All the bath products provided were from the well-known Japanese brand DHC. The hand soap was gentle enough for facial cleansing and had a lovely fragrance. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the pillows were memory foam. It was the first time I've ever slept so comfortably in a hotel! Usually, hotel pillows are soft, flimsy, and completely unsupportive, which always prevents me from getting a good night's rest. The front desk is located on the second floor, where you'll also find a complimentary self-service beverage station. They offer ice water, ice cubes, coffee, lattes, matcha, and a selection of tea bags – just help yourself! We found it incredibly convenient to fill up our water bottles before heading out for the day and again before returning to our room in the evening. Directly opposite the hotel, downstairs, there's a FamilyMart convenience store. To the left, you'll find a supermarket which offers discounted sushi and fresh produce in the evenings – a real bargain! We often picked up items to enjoy as a late-night snack. To the right of the hotel, there's an izakaya; we didn't get to try it, but it looked quite appealing. While there aren't any Chinese-speaking staff, it didn't pose any communication issues, and my overall experience was fantastic. The front desk even has complimentary DHC makeup remover, toner, and lotion samples available for guests to take. I genuinely can't recommend this hotel enough! I will definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Kyoto.
