etant donné le prix je pensais que ce serait le meilleur hebergement de mon voyage. Or si le charme est certain, le personnel accueillant surtout la personne qui sert les repas,et l experience interessante, mon avis est un peu mitigé sur le ryokan en lui meme qui meriterait une renovation peiture , et où il y avait à redire sur le nettoyage, poussiere sur les pieds des meubles et ca se voit quand on dort sur des futons donc le rapport qualité prix n est pas bon , meme si nous avons apprécié les repas bons et bien présentés,. petit bémol aussi sur le bain privé pas exceptionnel . a ce prix là 450 euros la nuit le repas sans salle de bain et le petit déj, on est en droit d attendre mieux ,

The best Ryokan
We had the best experience with this beautiful Ryokan. The staff was so sweet, the food was amazing, and the room was 10 out off 10. I definitely recommend this amazing Ryokan. I do recommend to know the basics of Japanese to better communicate with the staff. The location was as well perfect, walk distance from the main attractions and that made it easier for us to visit them without having many tourist around.

Great experience
Fantastic service and lovely facilities. We had the Kaiseki dinner and it was a wonderful and memorable experience despite the many Japanese flavors that honestly did not suit our tastebuds. The plating was beautiful and the service so kind and gentile that we still loved the whole experience.

True Ryokan experience
Ryokan Motonago was a perfect place for us to spend our first night in Kyoto. Location is excellent in the Gion area,it’s a charming neighborhood of winding streets and shops. we could walk to the Yasaka Shrine and Kiyomizu Temple. We opted for the Kaiseki dinner and found it a great experience. We ate in our room sitting on the floor, and slept on futons they prepared after dinner. For bathing you make an appointment to use the communal bath. It’s a room with showers and a large tub- you clean off at the shower then can have a soak. It’s private to your party.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We took a taxi there from Kyoto station, which was good because not sure we would have found it on our own. In front are sliding wooden slotted doors and he had to show us we could just open them and go in.
One night was perfect for us. We moved to a western style hotel for the rest of our stay
