After reading the reviews, I checked in with trepidation. My mother was quite satisfied. The style is different from Tokyo.

180-year-old house. It takes 1,000 yuan to get here from Kyoto Station and walks for 10 minutes.
A foreign lady spoke English and gave various introductions.
Japanese-style room. I experienced both breakfast and dinner.
Japanese breakfast is rice. Just order breakfast once to try. The Lawson breakfast is convenient 20-30 meters from the door.
There are only three shared shower rooms. You need to make an appointment in advance. One room is one hour (maybe we are two people).
The other rooms are occupied by foreigners. There are only a few rooms and it is quiet.
Closes at 11 o'clock. Go out and come back early? You can't take a shower after 11 o'clock. Otherwise, I'm worried about disturbing others' sleep.
Breakfast and shower are scheduled at the same time.
Dinner is at 7 o'clock.
The massage is from an outside company. It costs 6,000 yuan per hour. It's good.

We spent 3 unforgettable nights at Izuyasu Ryokan and it was like making our biggest travelling dream in Japan come true. The ryokan is an amazing, silent spot in Kyoto hidden from tourists' eyes but right in the heart of the city. Bedrooms as well as kitchen, dining room and bathrooms look like original pieces from Japonese ancient tradition for hospitality. Service standards are very high, extremely welcoming and warm as if you are staying at your own place. Wooden decorations, flowers and hidden gardens help to convey a cosy atmosphere all over the ryokan. Every little detail is worthy at least one night stop at Izuyasu Ryokan!

Our stay was beautiful and a fantastic experience as a family to get a small taste of traditional Japanese culture. Everything from sleeping on futons to sitting on tatami mats to our own private onsen made for a memorable stay . Thank you so much for having us and I will be highly recommending this accommodation to family and friends .

The entire team was friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. The bathing and curfew gave us some trouble a few days but the overall experience was excellent.
