This hotel is superb, it's located quite near to most of the highlights in the city like the Jiayuguan fort and alleys with night street food (about 1 km walk away). Furthermore, it has many delicious restaurants in the surrounding. The rooms are spacious and the breakfast was delicious with a decent number of choices. The breakfast dining staff serves different noodle dish everyday which I looked forward to everyday during my stay. Staff were helpful and polite and overall, the service was excellent.

This hotel really made my stay in town. They went above and beyond to help me with directions, help me get some deliveries I needed after I lost my chargers elsewhere, and to make me feel welcome, despite my complete lack of the language. The cleaning staff were some of the friendliest I have encountered, and the fruit they dropped off was a nice touch. Definitely recommend this place - it’s well located around restaurants and parks.

This is the most amazing B&B I have stayed in after many years of traveling. The overall design of the hotel comes from its owner, a top medical student. Everywhere is elegant and interesting, and there are many good views for taking pictures. The rooms are clean and bright, without any peculiar smell. Wet and dry are separated, and the toiletries are all brand products. We also prepare laundry detergent, foot bath and foot bath bag for guests, and the quality of slippers is also good. The bath towels are soft and the hand towels and bath towels are clearly classified. I like the balcony the most. The balcony of the standard room can see the snow-capped mountains of Qilian Mountains. The double bed room for parents and children can see a large river with clear water. Stayed here for the second time, and it was just as good as before. The service was very enthusiastic. I sent some things to the front desk before I came. The waiters were friendly and sincere and were happy to answer our questions. We originally booked a king-size room, and the hotel upgraded it to a suite for free, which was very comfortable! The room was clean and the buttons to control the lights and automatic curtains were modern and easy to use. The hotel is ideally located, with many quality restaurants nearby. It is also very close to the Jiayuguan Yingbin Lake Tourist Park. It is very relaxing to walk there at night to enjoy the beautiful garden scenery.

PPhilip BreitensteinVery nice hotel in Jiayuguan. The room is nice, clean and the bed is very good. There are plenty of nice restaurants for food close by. The staff is nice and helpfully but as elsewhere in China, when asking if there is a bus to somewhere they will tell you to take a taxi.
There is a bus (bus 6) that goes directly to the Fort, it literally stops in front of the hotel and it costs one Yuan (pay cash; no Alipay or Weixin in the bus but a different app). You can also rent a HelloRide scooter to get around. You can't get to the Overhanging Wall and the First Beacon with the scooter (it is outside of the service area; so you have to take a taxi since there is actually no bus there 😊 ).

The girls at the front desk were very nice (the recommended Xiaohua and Dapangzi, Huguo, Xingpi tea, and beef noodles were all delicious, and the hotel location was good, not far from these places). They also upgraded our room (thank you again). The guest rooms were very clean, and the corners of the bathroom were very clean. Whether it was the room staff or the front desk, they would greet the guests and respond to the guests' needs. It was great👍... The shampoo, shower and hand soap in the room all smelled very good, and the most favorite thing was that the pillows were so comfortable (I want to know what brand it is)
I almost forgot to mention the breakfast. The restaurant was clean and sanitary, and the dishes were rich!
I forgot to take pictures of the guest rooms in a hurry, but I will choose Starway Hotel in the future

The city has almost no public transport so getting a didi or taxi is a must unfortunately. I Don't understand what's wrong with the hotel interior designer. why the hell did he choose to put a clear glass door for the bathroom. If you wanna take a sh*t your roomate will know AND SEE, like #***. We highly reccomend to visit Wei Jin tombs which are extremely unique, rural and very different from the typical chinese tourist spot. (and for some reason no chinese go there the place was literally empty)

The location is very good, with a bus stop and restaurants nearby. Also, note that you can leave your bags at the reception before check-in and after check out. Overall, a good option when visiting Jiayuguan.

BBarryFor a start, it is now called the Herdsman Lodge. It is up one flight of steps from the street, no lift. Someone has obviously spent a fair amount of time and attention on the look of the place, but there are some things which would make staying here a better experience. The beds in the capsule are really hard (worse than on a Chinese train) and squeal every time you move. The capsules themselves look nice, but some of the plastic is a bit flimsy. They did supply toilet paper, but if you don't like squat toilets, you're out of luck. The shower cubicles are tiny, I don't know how to shower without getting my clothes wet. There is a drinks fridge, but no drinks are in it, and no water is supplied or available. The water boiler in the kitchen runs out at some stage in the evening.
Big tip: turn left out the door, go to the intersection, turn left and cross the road - the #4 bus goes to the Great Wall Scenic area, where you can see the fort, but not the wall.
