"I only realized after checking in that this wasn't the ”most beautiful sunset” Shangri-La that's so famous online. This one is outside the city, but it's still a great resort. While the hotel is overall quite dated, the staff are very warm and friendly, and they have a heated pool. You can go to the mountains in the morning to see animals, but remember to book in advance due to limited spots. Most guests are Westerners and Chinese. It's not as photogenic as the other Shangri-La, but it's perfect for a relaxed, leisurely vacation."
