The hotel is in a great location, about 12 minutes walk from the train station. The guy at the front desk was very enthusiastic and patient. It was already evening when we arrived. He still introduced us bit by bit. And the hotel is pet-friendly, and I saw a lot of cute dogs! !

AlvinDCFantastic stay! Highly recommend.
My partner and I stayed for a night. Arrived rather late and the staff were still up waiting for us. Acknowledged us by name and showed us up to our sea-facing room. Clean, well furnished, minimalist modern and spacious feel. Woke up to a fantastic unblocked sea view in our large window.
Breakfast was available to all in the kitchen/ pantry from 7.30-10 with a more than decadent spread of your staples, hot fresh brewed tea and coffee.
Minor drawback was the slightly longer walking distance from the city (about 15mins), no toothbrush available, and had I not read up online ahead of time, I’d never be able to find the place as there is (as many others have also mentioned) no clear sign that says “The Halcyon”.
So to anyone to follow in our steps, this is honestly a beautiful place to stay. Excellent value for money away from the noise of the town centre, wonderful hospitable staff for a lovely guest experience, delightful & scrumptious brekkie, cosy and clean modernistic rooms & gorgeous views to wake up to. No hassle checking in or out.
Just be mindful to look out for the big words that says “HOTEL” and you’re very likely at the right spot. (Checkout photos 1&2) Walk in without fear and be greeted by warm smiles and a fantastic experience all around.

Guest UserThe hotel is very beautiful, very clean, the sea scenery is very good, the transportation is also very convenient, and near to the sea. Open your eyes and see the sunrise. The boss is also very warm, there is water and milk in the refrigerator, very satisfied!! I love here and want to stay next time. The lack of lift to move luggage is a little inconvenient, but the spacious rooms and warm decor offset all of this

Overall, it was a really good experience. The staff were really nice, and the location was great. The only downside was that there was no air conditioning, and opening the window gets the bugs in. The walls weren’t soundproof either, so I was woken by the neighbours chatting and laughing at 4 am.

Guest UserAmazing location right by the beach so some rooms would be overlooking the promenade and coast.
The rooms are tired and decoration needs to be updated although the reception areas look good. The beds and pillows were VERY comfy! Better than some travelodge, so a good night sleep. So if you can look past the poor paint, the £37 a night twin room will be a bargain. I would return at this price, but not more expensive.
Its not the usual high quality or standard that I expected from Best Western chain. More a budget option.
£7 is for a continental breakfast so this was declined. Tea and coffee in room was good.
Late arrival but checking in was swift and very helpful. Free but limited overnight parking outside but you have to get a ticket (the hotel can do this for you for £2.25) from 8am so if you want a lie in, you need to book and pay when you check in.

It is value for money. Staff is very nice and helpful.
Breakfast is traditionally English breakfast, with bread, fruit, cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee/tea. Although not many variety, but the food is good. Room is small, main bed is comfortable, but the extra bed is too soft, not comfortable. As no a/c, we need to ask for fan. Room is not all prepared. You need to ask reception, but they are kind to help. Comparatively, a bit far from pier or beach. But maybe a good walk along beach during sunny day.

Guest UserGrand hotel on the sea front. We had a sea-view room with balcony which was very large and newly decorated, but the absence of any pictures or wall art made the room feel a bit stark. By comparison the bathroom was quite small and felt very cramped. Comfortable bed and seating, so all was absolutely fine for our one night stay. Enjoyed our breakfast in the formal dining room overlooking the sea front.

Everything I needed for an easy and comfortable stopover for work. Friendly welcome, comfy bed, clean room, decent shower for a very reasonable price.
Location wasn’t particularly important as I arrived late and left early, but the Majestic is right on the seafront, perfectly placed for the beach, shops, bars and restaurants. Hotel bar looked nice but it was just a bed for the night on this occasion. Would certainly stay again. Thanks to staff.

Guest UserNot used this hotel before but have stayed on the same road, not the most welcoming site on entering the building as front entrance stairs in poor state and full of cigarette ends.Reception service ok but was occasions when I came down and shouted and no one around, couldn't see a bell to ring either. Stairs and corridor on way to room seemed in poor state and a lot of the doors scratched and some damaged, lots of dirty linen just left lying about outside rooms.Had a single room which was on the small side but bathroom quite modern and had a bath, wooden floors with no rugs down,no hairdryer which is unheard of theses days.Had paid more for a 3rd night double room (just double bed in this case) as room too small and no room to walk around bed, bathroom very large but instead of a blind or curtain someone had put a shower curtain up at the window whilst the two windows in the room had two flimsy different curtains neither of which fitted.
There was a distinct feeling that no women had any input in the place and only saw male staff when needed assistance .This accommodation is more suitable for single men booking at short notice as a cheaper option, the name Pearl and Pebbles gave me the thought of clean and bright which this was certainly not, wouldn't stay again
