York Hotels with Hot Tub

Lovely little boutique b and b very central, round the corner to York minster. 5 min walk from shambles car park which was easy to use, however we pre booked parking £54 only to get a message from hotel 24hrs later to say you get discount for staying there, why not tell you when booking ?. We stayed in room 12 at the top of the hotel, it was very clean and cosy but noisy from the street from 6.30 in the morning, Toilet seat was loose I nearly ended up on the floor. also because of the beautiful oak beam features I walked around bent over most of the time spent in the room, though a younger person might not have minded. Stairs were very very steep what you would expect from a property like this. On the upside breakfast was fabulous with plenty of choice especially the porridge, staff were friendly and helpful.

Very lovely hotel. We love the building and the room and the outside view from our room. Love the coffee machine in our room. Everything feels luxurious. This is the only hotel that provides bedroom slippers throughout our UK trip. Room with big bathroom is nice. There is a famous restaurant inside the hotel. Lucky to get a table without reservations. Paid parking at the hotel is a bit steep. Other than that, all good.

We booked this hotel for a 3 day get away to York. The hotel is well situated off Tadcaster Road, near a woodland path which leads to York racecourse, so is very popular for those who go to the horse racing. Free parking is given on the hotel’s ground, but be warned make sure you go to reception and put in your car registration details in their computerised system otherwise you will be issued with a parking fine from the company who operates CCTV monitoring for the hotel. We booked the hotel through the IHG website, as an IHG Gold member we were given an option of an early checkin for a fee of £20.00 and an upgrade of £45.00. We took advantage of both offers, subject to availability on arrival. Unfortunately this wasn’t possible on arrival, and we weren’t able to check in until nearly 3pm. We were given the upgrade of a room on the top floor. The room had a small fridge with complimentary water and a chocolate bar, slippers, and dressing gowns. The toiletries, conditioner, shampoo, body lotion, are all in fixed to the wall containers. The bath room had a large walk in shower which was quite powerful, but space to hang towels, put personal toiletries was very minimal, and I was thankful that I took a plastic shoe type hold-all and a suction hook which I attached to the shower door to put our toiletries in, otherwise they would have cluttered the sink area. The bathroom was very small, and the door needs to be closed to get any room to do what is necessary in the bathroom. We booked a deal of dinner bed and breakfast. This was a disaster. We went for dinner and just about everything on the menu wasn’t available. Eventually we ordered a burger and chips. After about 30 minutes the food arrived. It was the worse burger and chips I have ever tasted. The burger was burnt on the outside, raw in the middle, the bun was burnt, the chips were very brown, which tasted of fat. We picked at the food as we were so hungry but it wasn’t nice, and hardly edible, in fact what I ate made me feel quite sick afterwards. We complained to reception, who apologised, and said that chefs in York were really hard to employ, and offered to refund the dinner to our account. We said that if this was the case, we would rather not eat dinner in the hotel, and could they please refund the dinner portion from our account for the rest of the stay. We had breakfast for the next 3 mornings, but it wasn’t marvellous, often dishes weren’t refilled when emptied. Some staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing, and others didn’t seem to be that bothered, or concerned, about the guests in the hotel, possibly some more customer service training could be beneficial all round. For the remainder of the stay we ate our evening meal in the pub across the road, which was really good. Location is extremely convenient to get to the sightseeing spots.

Beautiful atmospheric hotel with beautiful entrance, spacious bedroom modern classic bathroom, only the food is expensive and nothing special also breakfast was meager. But for the rest is ok

A hotel worth staying at. The English breakfast was good. Good value for money. Remember to include breakfast when booking. Breakfast costs 10 pounds per person.

The hotel is right in front of the cathedral, the location is very central, and Diagon Alley is also within walking distance, which is not convenient for parking. 7.8 minutes after walking the street one night behind the parking lot is okay, parking during the day is very expensive. Welcome to us is a very old-fashioned British gentleman, introduced the room for 10 minutes, and encountered the butler-style service for the first time.

We stayed here 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Very friendly and helpful checkin on arrival. Our room was well equipped with everything you require for a comfortable stay and it was very quiet. Only small complaint was we had an upstairs room and it got quite hot during the day and took awhile to cool off at night. There’s a pub across the road for meals and a drink and a convenience store a short walk away. A short pleasant walk to the city with all the amazing things York has to offer. There’s a no alcohol policy in your room which has attracted some negative feedback in the past. But it’s the owners place so it’s their rules and we had no problem respecting their decision. We had a cup of tea at night instead of our glass of red. The majority of people would drink responsibly in their rooms but there’s always a few that would spoil it for everyone else and the owners have no option but to make it a blanket ban. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone else.
