Canyon lodge is one of the best lodges we have ever stayed in, and we have been to a few. The place looks like Hobiton, with little cabins scattered between rocks and resounded by trees and lawns. The cabins are well equipped and very comfortable, the staff is as friendly as can be and the food is great. The location, just at the gate of the park is a great bonus. Highly recommended!!!!

Location superb, grounds very well looked after. Pool area excellent. Rooms well designed. Food mainly good but one of the nights it was cold due to burners not being switched on early enough. This meant we could not eat it but still we were expected to pay for it??? Heating up chicken with burners not a good way forward.

Lovely location of the Hotel as not far from the Canyon, welcoming staff. The rooms were very clean and breakfast was good. Why 3 stars? Algernon who was the receptionist had no answer to any question and had to check with management from the price of the set dinner to what was the options for vegetarians.. We found him friendly on face but not nice to deal with...

Great location and the site itself, beautiful landscapes all around the hotel. Reception OK but some confusion on check in. Rooms very small and far from public areas , no place to unpack suitcases. Dinner buffet good with in particular and excellent choice of salads. Breakfast buffet good, fruit salad excellent , mini quiches tasty , coffee quality good.

Stayed at Canyon Lodge during our visit to Fish River Canyon. Rooms were on the small side but very nice and had somewhat of a charm to them. Beds were comfy and at night and staff would come and put hot water bottles into the beds which was a lovely small addition. The heater/air conditioning was also very good as it kept the rooms very warm at night. While the room was small, I did really enjoy staying in them as it felt nice and cosy. Wi-Fi is also not available in the rooms so you must go to the main reception or pool to access it. Whilst visiting this lodge, we visited Fish River Canyon and also did the sundowner walk in the evening to view the sunset. Our Fish River canyon tour was guided by Simone and was excellent - the views of the canyon are incredible and I highly recommend visiting. We did do it in an open top car which in hindsight was probably a mistake as it gets extremely cold, especially early in the morning. The sundowner walk was a nice quick 1 hour walk up some rocks to reach a viewpoint and is worth doing. Food in the lodge was a set starter and dessert with a buffet for mains. The food was nice but I didn’t find anything to be outstanding. The buffet had a good variety of dishes and it was nice to be able to help yourself to whatever you want. One of the reasons this review is 4 star and not 5 star is because the food quality was probably not as good as some of the other lodges. Additionally the portion sizes for starters and desserts were extremely small and could definitely do with being slightly bigger. The pool is down the other end of the resort and had incredible views of the desert. The staff often come and ask if you would like to order any drinks as well. Overall staff were very friendly and I would highly recommend this lodge if visiting Fish River Canyon.

This place blew me away with it's beauty. The gravel road there looks like it's just going nowhere and suddenly you arrive to this oasis which takes your breath away. The service we received was 5 star from check in to check out. The room built into the rock made for one of the best sleeping experiences i have ever had, it felt like i was sleeping in a cave. The grounds was immaculate with everything in its place and super tidy. The buffet dinner incredible with the best oryx steak we have experienced in Namibia. If you thought it could not end better go to the pool area which looks out over the horizon and you can see the fish river canyon in the far with the giraffe grazing below. Wait for the sun to set and experience the piece and quite of the Namib. This is a bucket list place and we will return next year for more.

We came from a self-drive tour from the Canyon Road Campsite through the Gondwana National Park. We were greeted by several oryxes eating grass right in front of the reception. It was a very hot sunny day and all we could think about was a cold drink.

We had an amazing stay at this unique lodge set amongst the most enormous boulders. Our room had a fantastic view, looking out over the desert. Comfortable beds and a good shower. All the staff were excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. We stayed 3 nights, the food choice was great and of a high standard. An excellent buffet. The pool views are incredible. All in all another high quality Gondwana property and one we would both recommend and will return to.

Excellent service from Anna at the front desk and all the staff. We were however told that finner was invluded and I even mentioned that I was looking forward to just eating salad so it was a shock to be charged ND495 pp for the buffet. The 2nd day we had a late pub lunch instead at ND90! The 6km morning walk was spectacular but very difficult terrain, lots of climbing. In our 60s we did well but be aware. Baldwin was an amazing guide. We did an afternoon drive to the canyon with Simon and came back after sunset. Well worth it as it's quite a tough drive to get there. The lodge is built into the rock formations and rooms are very comfortable. It is difficult to block out the lights from the pathways at night though. Would definitely go back.

Very nice ambiance, sharp staff team and perfect environment. Always impressed when people manage a good hotel resort lodge so extreme far away from the rest of the world. Namibdesert in Gandwana is about 35 to 40 degrees celsius as we arrive, the reception is alert and sharp. Service great and beer cold. Evening diner was good. Way above average. Breakvast simple with care and good. Only missed the sausages. Evening view splendid. If ever you should spend here a couple of days and do the trail early morging. The evening, night, mornig...great silence you can hear the birds fly.

I cant speak more highly of this lodge, withthe absolute highest praise to Charles, who was incredible and went above and beyond any kind of help we could have asked for. Our car was stuck on the side of the road in the middle of seemingly nowhere, and we were able to get a ride to this lodge to seek help. I was really worried about the situation, and thought this would become a big ordeal, but as soon as we arrived and spoke with Charles, he fixed everything. We couldnt have asked for a more gracious staff member who did everything he could to help us get back on track to fix the situation and offer various solutions. It was the most unparalleled experience I have ever had travelling. He offered as much reassurance as he did help. The lodge itself is stunning, all the staff were so kind and attentive. The restaurant was lovely, and the food was delicious. All this aside, I still cant speak more highly of Charles, who truly saved our trip. I would highly recommend this place to absolutely anyone, and am extremely grateful x a million to have met Charles.

The rooms are clean and equipped with everything one needs, the location is astounding, and the whole area is impeccably maintained. The real highlight of this place and our stay was the staff. In this regard, a special mention goes to Timo and Milencia - they were kind and thoughtful. Ps: Milencia has a heavenly voice, but she’s too shy to sing.

Stayed 2 comfortable and enjoyable nights during an Epic Road Trip, which spanned the length and breadth of the Country. Excellent Location, Setting & Outlooks (vistas), good Food, Beverages and Service in general (enthusiastic and willing rather than polished). Room allocated was in a great position right on the front looking-out towards their pool, but minute. Us and the Double bed filled it. No room for Luggage and we were traveling super lite. Terrific scenery & rock formations abound both in their grounds and the area, as do Dassies (Rock Hyraxes) - I counted 90 one evening There is little to do in the Area apart from visiting the Fish River Canyon. Despite the Name it is not close-by. 40+ minutes there and same back. A visit to the Visitor Centre was Out as it was Locked-up tight. The Look-out Point had some níce and quite spectacular Vistas. But once you have visited (walked or driven to) the Hikers & Sunset Viewpoint – you’re done. The Option of driving into and down to Ais-Ais (Canyon floor) did not appeal since that was allegedly a further 2 hours drive each way. We kept that for the next time & will stay on the West-side. This time, the East suited since we were then headed for Grunau, Karasburg, & the SA Border post at Onseepkans
Response from Property: Dear Guest, Thank you for the great review of our hotel! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again very soon. Sincerely, Angelique
