Peacock Beach Resort and Spa

We recently stayed at the hotel for a family getaway, and our experience was a mix of positives and negatives. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, which set a friendly tone for our stay. However, while our room was tidy, it unfortunately did not meet our cleanliness expectations. We were surprised to find that there were no telephones in the room, which made communication with the front desk a bit inconvenient. One significant issue we encountered was the lack of hot water. When we brought this to the attention of the staff, we were informed that the solar system was not functioning properly on rainy days. This was disappointing, as we were unable to enjoy comfortable showers during our stay. The restaurant left something to be desired, too. While the dinner was quite enjoyable, both breakfast and lunch did not meet our expectations, and we noticed that the dining area could have been cleaner. Overall, the maintenance of the facilities seemed to be lacking. On a brighter note, the pool area was well-maintained and provided a pleasant experience for the whole family. We appreciated the friendly demeanor of the staff throughout our stay. Additionally, the resort's easy access from Hambanthota was a definite plus. Can not recommend to another for a stay after spending that much money.
My Village

A wonderful place with a pleasant quiet indoor garden, a pleasant food and drink (adviser: the tropical milkshake) and friendly staff that arranged a beautiful safari for us. The large pool is separately located in a small paradise on the other side of the road (less than half a minute walk). Rooms are fine and air-conditioned. Tip: choose safari in Yala Block 5. We were one of only seven jeeps that day, and saw everything we wanted. Details, but the room can just be dressed a little more beautiful and smarter: table next to bed would be fine, the lamps are rough but with the lucks closed the windowless room is very dark.
Oak Ray Wild Yala

Very close to Lake Thieu, the room is about 30 square meters, consistent with the picture, wild hotel, furniture facilities do not have too high expectations, there is a small creature inside is normal and acceptable. Someone helped carry luggage to the room when staying at the hotel. The dinner was very rich, the meal was included in the reservation, which was better than the restaurant we had eaten a few days ago, and the price was super high. Service in the meal is also good. Because the next day I had to get up early to go to Yarra Park, the hotel's packed breakfast was also very rich.
Kayaam House

As part of our 3rd trip to Sri Lanka, I selected this hotel on the basis of recommendations and reviews. I must say that I do not share the positivity of other guests. Fortunately we were only there for 3 nights. The main building is gorgeous and imposing. Contrary to the bedrooms, the common areas are extremely spacious and airy. The pool is large and the pool area and garden are nice and well equipped and tended. A proper foot shower to wash the feet after the beach would be an improvement. For such an hotel, the rooms are far too small. Lack of clothes storage makes matter worse. The bathroom is equally small and dark. The overall impression is one of a cramped and oppressive space which is most unusual in Sri Lanka. It is reminiscent of rooms in any large international hotel chain. The narrow balcony which is made smaller by the bath has only one bench chair to sit on rather than 2 chairs to relax in. The staff are attentive, friendly and helpful, so is the management. The food quality is good but variable, while some dishes are well executed while others are more disappointing. The menu is extensive but very expensive by local standards. Overall, if you are not bothered by the room size, there are some very good reasons to choose this hotel, but there are so many good hotels in SL that this one might not be first choice.
Hotel Tamarind Tree

The hotel's swimming pool is good, the water quality is relatively good, and the swimming pool is relatively large. It can score 5 points; The hotel's Wi-Fi is very slow and basically unusable. This negative review is worth 1 point; The hotel's food is average and can be scored 4 points; The accommodation conditions are B&Bs, so don’t expect too much; The conditions of the hotels next to Yala Park are very average, and that's about it. Regarding chartered cars in Yala National Park, please do not step into the trap. Jeep chartered cars are all priced uniformly by market associations. According to the model, the price is 13,000-15,000 rupees for 4 hours for half a day and double for the whole day. You can buy the park tickets alone. Any quotation in the name of a turnkey package, whether it is a driver introduction or a hotel recommendation, is a scam. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled and ask for price details! ! ! The folk customs in Yala are not very simple, so be sure to avoid pitfalls!
Elephant Reach

We spent one night at Elephant Reach as part of our visit to Yala National Park and I so wish we could have stayed longer! What a lovely place. The rooms were clean and spacious, already set up with an extra bed for our kiddo. Check-in was easy, all staff members were very attentive and kind. We had a short window of time before our safari departure and the restaurant was able to quickly whip up some food for us. After the safari, we had a lovely time at the pool which was clean and well-maintained with towel service. Buffet dinner was great, and we particularly enjoyed the local dishes and desserts. My only suggestion would be to please label which dishes are vegetarian--although there were plenty of options for us, it was difficult to tell in some cases which were veg.
