really great onsen hotel. very modern. food and service are great. very enjoyable and comfortable stay. it focuses on using art as form of relaxation.

Very relaxing place. Good for unwind. Good and huge room with private onsen. Only the public onsen facilities is a bit outdated.

Love love love my stay here. The service is just personal and the place provides much privacy and tranquility from the hustle and bustle if you come from the cities. When we arrived, the staff came over to our car to welcome us and help us with our bag. The check in was smooth and we were briefed on the breakfast and dinner timings and what we could do on-site. The room is huge and we were treated with great view every morning. The meals were great too. I can’t wait to return to this hotel, perhaps in the winter.

The lady at the front desk is very attentive. The reception is very good from the moment you enter the door. She reminds you what time it is for breakfast and what time it is for dinner. Both dinner and breakfast are delicious. The room is clean and there is a private soup. It is a first-class vacation. hotel

Daxue arrived very late, the dinner ordered was gone, and there was no food. The main waiter didn't speak any English. Will not visit again.

The open-air bath in the room was very nice. There were activities at the hotel, there was art everywhere, and I was able to really enjoy myself just inside the hotel. I would like to visit you again if I have a chance.

Incomparable and unforgettable. The standard of dinner seems not to be as high as it used to be.

The hotel is very good. Modern Japanese style room. Give a comfortable feeling. Will not give guests the old time hot spring hotel. The group is also famous. Give me a positive feeling. Will come again next time.

Great service, great food, and great food.

Beautiful room and facilities, the mealtimes are made very special by the attentive staff and the food is good. The meals are incredibly generous in size! We found staff to be friendly and most spoke a good level of conversational English which was really helpful. The room and onsen was spotless and the beds really comfortable. We found it easy to get around Hakone via the local bus and other modes of transport. The staff provided us with a timetable and directions to the correct stop If you have mobility issues the short walk to the bus stop is steep. My only criticism is that we were offered a taxi but then told there are no taxis and to get the bus to the station - fine by us but if we had a lot of luggage I think that would have been pretty stressful. Overall a great stay and I would definitely stay again!

Amazing room and hotel. Very close to the bus stop that allows for easy access to the Hakone free pass route (15 minutes away to the ropeway). Meals were delicious (and massive!) and the staff went out their way to make us comfortable. The hot bath on the terrace was very relaxing but you also get the access to the main onsen with it's three baths. Well worth the trip!

This is the worst hotel in Japan! The staff is terrible and don’t refund you . Rooms is dirty bugs flying everywhere nasty dinner options and are not able to refund. The room smells like urine and the bed looked like someone slept on it! I don’t like the stay here !!!! I want to get refunded and they couldn’t will dispute but trust me stay at the Hyatt don’t stay here

A great stay here at Kai Sengokuhara. Unfortunately it was cut short due to confusion between our agents and the hotel. That being said, the hotel were very friendly about it and apologetic. They moved us to their sister hotel Kai Hakone for our 2nd night. The staff, despite the lack of English did everything they could to make it up to us and I have to praise them for that! The hotel itself is stunning, the room was beautiful with incredible views and a lovely in room onsen. The communal onsen is nice, however not the best I’ve been to in Japan! I think we were unprepared for the food. It’s a very Japanese hotel, whereby what you eat is fully Japanese in a small personal booth which is very bizzare. A great experience, but I wouldn’t say it’s the best meal I’ve ever had! A great stay nonetheless. Wish it could’ve been the full 2 nights!

Not very friendly to foreigners because of lack of communication. Explaining and showing things about hotel is mandatory in a friendly way to a customer to make them feel comfortable in their stay. Overall, hotel as a building and facilities are nice but to have a better experience staff should be more friendly, informative and helpful to have their guests have a good experience at their stay. As we asked to have a taxi van to go to train station, response was not very helpful by saying that they can not guarantee to arrange big van at that time and didn’t offer any solution either. There are couple more experiences that I won’t mention but overall that made us feel uncomfortable and not very welcomed. I wouldn’t come back or advise anyone to stay at this hotel in Hakone. I am sure there are better alternatives.
