The best thing about this hotel is its location as it is very close to the train station and to the restaurants and pubs of Hakodate. The twin room we booked was very basic, with enough space for two big luggages to be opened fully. Unfortunately, there is no free parking space as you are asked to pay for parking fee even in their designated parking spaces.

The room is big and comfortably host 3 adults. We are pleasantly surprised to find a washing machine and other kitchen equipment in the room. Not to mention the walk in closet. It’s a full service apartment than a hotel room. The location is a bit far from public transport and attractions. However, the balcony with a fantastic sea view is to well worth the effort spent getting to the hotel. The hotel is also reasonably priced, considering that it was a peak season (summer vacation period).

I used JR INN for the first time. JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo has used it. I stayed at a railway hotel for railway fans, but I was impressed this time. From the single room I stayed in, you can see all the vehicles coming in from the top of Hakodate Station platform. If you thought you could see Twilight Express and Hokuto Star in the time of running on the bed, Cassiopeia came in. In addition, the timetable is posted on the top floor bath, and the train is seen while bathing. There are many books related to the railway in the rest place, and you can know the history of the railway in Hokkaido. At the entrance of the hotel, there is a head mark such as Hokuto star, and the track is drawn on the floor, and it is a hotel that is not able to be caught in the railway mania from the moment when it enters. It is conveniently located in front of the station or in the station, and from the opposite room, Hakodate mountain can be seen, and I thought it was a good hotel other than railway fans.

This was the perfect location to stay overnight on our trip between Asahikawa and Tokyo. We had travelled by train from Sapporo and were switching to the Shinkansen at Shin Hakodate Hokuto. We had booked a room with two beds which turned out to be either double or queen. We also hadn't realised that the hotel has an onsen, so this was a particularly nice surprise. The beds were good, and the Japanese style pillows were okay, too - sometimes they can be a bit hard, or too fat. The hotel is clean and modern with nice toiletries and yukata supplied. The only slight disappointment was that the restaurant was closed on the night we stayed (a Friday), but there is a Ramen restaurant downstairs in an adjacent shopping area, and this was fine.

I chose it because it is called ”hot spring where you can travel in Hokkaido by Shinkansen”. It was an online reservation, but I received a confirmation call such as the room on the 2 floor without an elevator and the room with only a shower. At that time, I was able to make a reservation for a private bath. A few days before my stay, I received an email from the manager and a call to decide dinner time. The hotel can be seen from Onuma Station. Walk 5 minutes. When you enter the front desk, you will find a nice atmosphere like an overseas resort. You can drink coffee and tea, and there is a bar lounge (with time limit) to relax. Even adults can enjoy the railway diorama and railway goods in the lounge. There were various customers such as couples, couples, and families. The room was the smallest room, but the interior was devised and functional and I didn't feel much narrowness. I was worried that the room with only a shower and the large communal bath were open-air baths, but it was not colder than I expected because of the good weather. I used the large communal bath 2 times, but it was reserved. Despite the busy season of the private bath, the reservation was not crowded, and I used it at 2. (1 Some places are reserved in advance. There are already vacancies on the day of 1.) Bath towels and towels are convenient in the bathhouse other than the guest rooms. And what should be noted is the meal? A menu that you can enjoy with your eyes according to the concept of ”delicious Epuy”. Meat, fish, vegetables, mushrooms, homemade bread dinner, breakfast full of vegetables and dairy products. I was almost hungry in the center of the local area. There were many young staff, but it was a customer service that conveys the feeling of hospitality. On the way back, despite the station Chika, he sent me by car because my feet were bad. When you try to find a place to stay for the purpose of hot springs, the elements of Japanese will inevitably become stronger, which is also attractive. However, it was a very satisfying trip that sometimes seemed to be good for hot springs like Epi and good inn like children in resort hotels. This time it was a relaxing trip to enjoy the snowy scenery, but I would like to revisit Epi to look forward to cycling and walking in different seasons. It was a trip that noticed the goodness of southern Hokkaido.

This hotel is located pretty deep in the woods, it's a bit scary to drive there after dark, but once you reach the main building, there's a large parking lot close by. (There are a few buses go to the hotel as well, but beware nothing is within the walking distance) The hotel is quite big but somehow has a cozy feeling I can't really tell why, probably due to a combination of lighting, texture and smells. This is most obvious in the guest rooms. My room wasn't very big. It didn't look fancy, it didn't even have a view (just trees outside). But I still felt comfortable just to be there and I enjoyed my stay. The hotel was also a lot quieter than I expected, with fewer tourist groups than other major hotels I stayed in Hokkaido recently. They do have a laundry room for guests, which is very rare for a hotel at this level. The one thing that disappointed me was the dinner. Yes the restaurant had a good view to the lighted swamp outside, but the portion was ridiculously small and the taste wasn't good enough for the price tag. Because there's nothing within walking distance, I had to drive out to the nearest convenience store to get more food. The breakfast buffet was great though, with a huge selection of items and good taste. The hot spring bath was pretty small, but had a unique setting that feels like it's connected to the lighted swamp outside. When someone enters the pool, water will spill out into the swamp below (I believe). The bathing experience was natural and tranquil. You can also walk into the woods around the hotel to experience more of the local nature (though there are a lots of bugs). Overall I think this hotel feels pleasant and is surprisingly cost effective if you skip the dinner.

GGuest UserWhat an amazing hotel HakoBA Hakodate is. It is located in the old Fuji Bank building which gives it a unique character. They have done an amazing job updating the interior making it look modern yet still letting the character of the building shine through, awesome! Staff at reception were super friendly and helped us with lots of recommendations, like food and drink, and helped us with the public transport 1-day pass which you can buy here. There's also a cool little shop in the reception area selling local gifts. The room was really nice and we were lucky they gave us a room on the top floor which meant the room had really high ceilings and amazing details on the ceiling. Bathroom was pretty large, very modern and clean. Location wise this hotel is perfect. It is a 20 minute walk from the station but well connected to other public transport like buses and the city tram system. Located in the middle of the redbrick warehouse area of Hakodate there's plenty of shopping and restaurants around. Ideal for exploring this amazing city. Highly recommend staying here!
GGuest UserWe stayed at Century Marina for our first night in Hokkaido and originally chose it for its proximity to most of the sites we wanted to see in Hakodate. It's just a few minute walk from the train station with plenty of sidewalks so pulling our suitcases was no issue. The hotel also has a large parking lot if you choose to drive. It's also just a few minute walk from the warehouse district and the older area up the hill where a lot of historical embassies and churches are. The hotel's breakfast buffet is an experience itself with an extensive spread of both Japanese and Western food options. You will reserve a time slot when checking in, but even then you should expect a 10-20 minute wait in the morning to get your table, so its best to go up before your reserved time. This hotel also has one of the best rooftop onsen I've seen, with wonderful views of the whole marina and hill. When booking I didn't realize there was a hot springs so this was a nice surprise. Our room was right next to the elevator but very quiet and clean. This is a newer hotel too so everything felt very fresh and well-maintained. We checked in using Japanese, but the hotel has check-in info packets and signs in English so this is a good option for non-Japanese speaking guests as well.
MMS JshyWe had 2 kids 2 adults and both kids and adults like the room a lot . It’s not a hotel with a lot of services but it’s totally fine for us ( Eg no room cleaning but basket with clean towels were delivered to the door next morning . Enough space for our luggages ( 1 big 1 medium 1 small ) Kids love the bunk bed ( altho have to remind them not to stand up when they wake up due to ceiling height) The beds on the bottom is actually big enough for 2 ppl I think, but I had it all for myself. There is a kitchen sink, fridge and even a microwave and simple utensils. 2 min away walking to morning seafood market, and there is also outdoor parking area right outside the hotel. Check in staff is nice and checkout was super fast too. We re glad we chose this hotel!
GGuest UserIt has been almost 3 years that we have not visited Japan. Once Japan opened tourism, we packed our bags. We decided this trip will be a trip to enjoy some onsen (hot springs bath) and to see some fall foliage in colors. We picked Hakodate for onsen. This hotel offers in room open air bath tub on the balcony with a 180 degree ocean view!! Our activities were focused on taking onsen and having great food at the hotel buffet restaurant. After a great onsen bath, we wore the clothing they provided to us to the restaurant, very layback and relaxing!! There were many families, old and very young at the hotel over the weekend. So we think families take short vacations here. Strongly recommend to add Hakodate and this hotel to be part of your tour in Japan !
GGuest UserFirst of all, the location is perfect. 3 minutes walk from Hakodate Station. There is a Max Value nearby and a tram station passes right in front of you.
The overall disadvantage is that it is old, but we are putting a lot of effort into overcoming it.
Representatively, there is a modern, remodeled lounge on the first floor. The lounge design itself is nice, and the drink bar, which provides free coffee, tea, and water, is open until 10 p.m.
Another advantage is the breakfast, which is expensive at 2,000 yen (300 yen less if you book in advance the day before), but you can make your own kaisendon and eat it, and best of all, you can enjoy the view of Hakodate Bay from the top floor of the hotel.
The view is well worth it.
Also, there is a bar on the top floor where breakfast was served from 10 PM to 1 PM, and it boasts a reasonable price of 1,100 yen for a cocktail and a light snack.
It's run by an old bartender. If the advantage of the breakfast restaurant was the daytime view, the advantage of this place is that you can enjoy the view at night.
The downside is that currently, for environmental protection reasons, room cleaning is not provided and only water and towels are exchanged, but since I didn't stay in Hakodate for a long time, it didn't matter.
There are things to like and dislike, but for me it was the best hotel.
ZZhangjiahaoWhat a great experience, and the breakfast is delicious! It's very close to the station, and the transportation is convenient! There are also convenience stores and parking lots around, so it's very convenient to drive by yourself! The large public bath is also very comfortable
GGuest UserToyoko Inn has two branches around Hakodate Station, ”Hokkaido Hakodate Station Front Gate” and ”Hokkaido Hakodate Station Front Chaoshi”, of which ”Hokkaido Hakodate Station Front Chaoshi” is close to Hakodate Station, about two minutes walk. ”Hokkaido Hakodate Station Front Gate” is about a five-minute walk, in fact, it is quite close to Hakodate Station, it is a convenient and affordable choice for accommodation.
GGuest UserIt was a nostalgic inn full of Showa retro feeling. It is very beautiful, but it is not temperate and can relax. The meal and bath were very good, but there was no feeling of pulling out of the group. I was worried about the room on the 2 floor of the cherry blossoms, but the strange smell was full. I opened the window and turned the air cleaner, but I was worried until the morning. Isn't Haori washed every time? I didn't use it because I smelled like someone worn? The cloth on the edge of the chair was broken, the menu file on the seat table was broken, and it was quite old. The small place was able to maintain every time ... and it was a pity. The cosmetic water and emulsion with a straw are dry enough to not be used at all. I think it's better to bring your own. I had a pack plan like a lady set, so I followed the amenities separately, but I needed the morning because it was one time. I don't notice at first glance, but I was sorry that I entered the entrance and had a cardboard in the back of my right hand. The garden from the window of the cherry blossom room is peeled off or a pity. The view from the lobby was nice. Good point The staff are very friendly and helpful. The garbage is always cleaned cleanly enough to not fall one garbage. From the bus stop of the shuttle bus from the airport, it is within walking distance of the city tram station. Because the bus was suspended during the declaration of emergency, I went to the Trapistinne Abbey for about 1500 yen by taxi. I felt a lot closer from around Hakodate station.
GGuest UserI used it for the first time. A luxury hotel, breakfast is a special mention! We chose Japanese food in Azeria for the first night 1 and Matsumae for the second night. At the buffet, there was a heap of salmon roe that I had never seen before, and I was able to make a super gorgeous seafood bowl, which was really amazing. 2 Matsumae on the night was also a very nice set, and I chose the salmon roe set, but this is also super satisfying. My friend was Hitsumabushi set, which looked very delicious! The room was large and well maintained, and it was good because it had a long-established style plus modern functionality.
GGuest User< Good thing > I stayed in a Japanese-style room (7.5 book). I used it with my baby. From the conclusion, the food was very nice (really), the hall was clean, the hot springs were comfortable, and ice candy and water / special drinks (forgot the name) were prepared for free after the hot springs. < What I thought a little > ● Room size Some people may say that this size is enough, but I was cramped with my 々 family. However, there was no space except for the space of the 7.5 chapter in the room, and it felt difficult to stay overnight. The closet is so small that if you bring it with you, you will have to spread it to the room unless it is a carry bag that can be installed on the plane. ● There is a customer service baby, so if possible, I asked if early check-in was possible. Then, the answer was ”Early check-in is impossible.” There is no word to decorate, only the above words. Next, he said, ”Well, I don't know if it's 14:30.” It was a call that I couldn't think of as a phone response from a very large hotel. I was disappointed before I went. The counter depends on the person, but I could see the customer service that was a little unpleasant. (Of course, there were some nice people) ● Meal time-specification I think there is Corona's support, so time-specification is OK, but what if you are late? When I visited, I was told, ”5 minutes is fine, but it's more difficult.” To be honest, it was difficult to travel to meet the time of the meal. I wanted communication such as having a little more grace or being able to change the time until a few minutes ago. Next time I will go to another accommodation.
