The ambience was fabulous and Kaiseki meals astonishing. The room big and comfortable. The price was well deserved. Kagetsu is top notch with their attention to details for their service, food, Onsen baths and more. Don’t hesitate to go there. It’s a dreamlike stay. 🎎

I chose this ryokan based on photos and reviews. The hotel grounds are beautiful, but it looks more beautiful in the photos. We were there during the golden week and thought there would be a lot of people, fortunately it wasn't. We liked the room, the onsen too.
We took both breakfast and dinner to try the local cuisine. There was a lot of food, but then we realized that we don't like all Japanese food. But there was also a lot of tasty food. Overall, the hotel is not bad.
I didn't like how the transfer from the bus stop to the hotel was organized

The facility itself is old, but it was well-maintained and clean. The large communal bath was also nice. The food was also satisfying, with a wide variety of options.
It is within walking distance from the station, but there is also a shuttle service, so I used that.

All aspects are OK, the service needs to increase staff, the catering needs to be improved, especially the handling of raw and cooked food, cold and hot food, it would be better to have separate instructions

Awesome! The hot springs are great! The room is also quite big ~ because there are not many people staying there, it is very good to go to the hot springs, and overall it is very clean!
And the breakfast in the morning is also delicious. The izakaya opposite the dinner is super good and delicious🤤

Although it is an old inn, the facilities themselves were clean.
The garden and pond were very beautiful.

Shihe Hot Spring is a very small village. This hotel is a 20-minute walk from the station. Contact the hotel in advance to reserve a shuttle. A taxi is not expensive and costs less than 20 yuan.
Features of the hotel are the courtyard and hot springs. The courtyard is exquisite and has koi carps. The hot springs are particularly good, natural hot springs.
Breakfast is a set meal. When checking in, the front desk will ask guests in advance what time they would like to eat.
There is a home wine shop opposite the hotel, which is open late in the evening.
The rooms are all Japanese-style, sheets are recycled every day, and staff will come to make the beds in the evening. It will be more difficult for the elderly to sleep on the floor, which needs to be considered in advance. The room is large and can sleep 5-6 people.
Outside our room is a rockery with an artificial waterfall landscape. At first, I was worried that the sound of water would affect my sleep. What's very considerate is that the waterfall will automatically close at 9:30 every evening and at noon, allowing guests to have a rest in peace.
Overall, I was very satisfied. Apart from hot spring bathing, there were no other entertainment activities.

It is a magically, tranquil place. The rooms are HUGE , koi fish ponds, rock gardens, gemstone, woodwork art is everywhere. The staff is incredibly nice and the food was so good! The hot springs were phenomenal. This is a place I will never forget. I stayed in Japan for 2 weeks and this was mine and my husband's favorite place, nestled in the mountains away from most tourist. It really gave a feel for the quiet mountainside life of Japan. I can't wait to return one day.

My favorite accommodation stay on our 3 week trip to Japan by far! Secluded and peaceful with a large onsen that was opened 24/7. Friendly staff, massive rooms and a tasty meal for breakfast and dinner. I've already started recommending the place to friends who are travelling to Japan this year.
