Avoid Not as expected, very misleading re bar and restaurant. You have to track down someone and ask if there is food and the bar is a wine list. Lots of stairs, if they ever finish the renovations it could be a nice place. Best thing is the view. But sorry to say I would not recommend staying here.

The most beautiful castle I’ve ever stayed in This was exactly what we were looking for. The property was exceptional and incredible. We also learned from an article in the room that Michelangelo had stayed there while Florence was being erected.

Very hospitable hosts This family run manor is a charming small hotel. There is a lovely view of Florence from the roof top patio and the breakfast room. The service and welcome was warm. The rooms are set up for romantic stays. Our story though, after we had checked out we discovered our rental car key fob was dead. Enie, the owner of Montalbano spent hours helping us by calling the car rental company, being on hold, waiting for a callback, waiting finally for the tow truck. He brought us to the dining room to wait and served us cappucinos and biscuits, while he waited outside for the call from the tow truck. We were no longer guests of the hotel, yet Enie was so kind to us. This hospitality is the sign of true service.

Sconsigliatissimo

The property was pretty, the views were great, our room was huge, and, the bed was comfortable with a jetted tub. For those who travel here, it is great if you have a car or taxi as it is a 1/2 mile up a steep long driveway. I also suggest that guests bring snacks and beverages as there are none on the property and it is hard to find staff if you have questions.
