SpringHill Suites Colorado Springs Downtown

Downtown Colorado Springs
The Springhill is centrally located with easy driving to GOG, Manitou Springs, and Broadmoor. The are a number of restaurants within walking distance. The staff is courteous, breakfast is free and underground parking is provided ($17 per night ???). The best part is that the Springhill shares an 8th floor restaurant and bar with the Element next door. The bar is outside and faces the mountains at sunset. Beautiful view and worth seeing even if you are not a hotel guest

The room was very clean and comfortable. Check in was simple and quick. The breakfast was average but the worker was very friendly. Probably the only reason I did not give the hotel a 5 was because of the $10 nightly charge to park. I am very use to paying for parking but not where there is an empty lot and large parking area.

Upon arrival during check in. I inquired about availability of a first floor room. I was told “that shouldn’t be a problem at all”. Upon entering that first floor room, we were overwhelmed by a sickening decaying odor that nearly made us vomit. We noticed a large “air recovery” type machine in the room, but wasn’t running. We asked for a different room and 15 minutes later they found one. While we were waiting, two other patrons were visibly upset at the front desk. It was obvious to us the hotel management was not up to par at this hotel. I asked the clerk how could he give us that awful room without response. No apologies. Other indicators of poor management: Ice machine broken. High speed internet only available for ONE device. Was told this has been a problem there. @checkout wasn’t asked about our stay. Just told we would get an email. And oh yes, was charged $10.80 for 1 night parking in a field under construction and told that was standard Marriott policy. Coming to Colorado Springs? Find a different Marriott.
